(FAKTK = Fancy a Kick the Keg?)

The Visions movie theater this coming weekend is showing Freaks (1932) as its midnight movie. (And it's also still showing Donnie Darko on the other screen as a midnight movie.) Saturday nights are Kick the Keg: for $10 you get admission to the movie and all the beer you can drink (unless the keg runs dry first, but I've never known that to happen). Anyone else up for this?

j.lu (j.lu), Monday, 6 October 2003 13:36 (twenty-one years ago)

Sounds great. I'd definitely be up for this if I lived in the states!

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Monday, 6 October 2003 13:39 (twenty-one years ago)

J - let me ask Sarah later, her internet at work is down. I can't remember if we're doing something on Saturday, I have a feeling that there's something planned but I can't figure out what. But if not, we might be able to make it, it sounds fun to me.

NA (Nick A.), Monday, 6 October 2003 13:58 (twenty-one years ago)

Donnie Darko again? We'll see about this. Thanks for the heads-up!

TOMBOT, Monday, 6 October 2003 15:12 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm going to see Freaks. But if any of you want to see Donnie Darko the same night, I can meet up with you before or after.

j.lu (j.lu), Monday, 6 October 2003 15:50 (twenty-one years ago)

Well, shit. I'd love to, but I'm already committed this weekend to being in Richmond.

Girolamo Savonarola, Monday, 6 October 2003 15:54 (twenty-one years ago)

Ugh. Freaks is like one of my mom's favorite movies. The ending of that movie scares the shit out of me for some reason. I don't like...wait, I won't spoil in case anyone didn't see it. It's gross!

Ally (mlescaut), Monday, 6 October 2003 16:02 (twenty-one years ago)

We could be krazy and have a Richmond FAP, since GS will be here and Sarah and I live here, but if not, it looks like Sarah and I could come up for this if we can get it organized. We should probably visit my parents anyway.

NA (Nick A.), Monday, 6 October 2003 17:13 (twenty-one years ago)

We should just start picking random cities within reasonable driving distance from Washington DC and have FAPs there. "Meet us in the lobby of the HoJo's in Beckley, WV, we're gonna wreck shop on the free continental breakfast, yo."

Anyway, I'll be in the "'hood", as "they" say, this weekend. So whatever. Not that anyone wants to see me after I was such a cunt at the Turbonegro show.

Ally (mlescaut), Monday, 6 October 2003 17:16 (twenty-one years ago)

Hey is this happening? Sarah and I will be in town. Is anyone besides us and j. lu up for it?

NA (Nick A.), Thursday, 9 October 2003 15:57 (twenty-one years ago)

I'll be in the general vicinity of Washington D.C. this weekend. Is there also a HoJos?

Ally (mlescaut), Thursday, 9 October 2003 16:45 (twenty-one years ago)

Do HoJos still exist? The only one I've ever known of in DC is now under some other corporate name.

j.lu (j.lu), Thursday, 9 October 2003 18:46 (twenty-one years ago)

Not sure about the midnight show, but I'd be up for something earlier in the evening. Unless I get all shy and stuff.

(There is indeed a HoJos out on NY Ave NE, but I wouldn't recommend it...)

mookieproof (mookieproof), Thursday, 9 October 2003 18:55 (twenty-one years ago)

Yeah I imagine we can go to this but I'd also prefer earlier.

Ally (mlescaut), Thursday, 9 October 2003 19:03 (twenty-one years ago)

Well in that case does anyone have any requests regarding places to go and/or substances to be consumed? (Legal only, please.)

j.lu (j.lu), Thursday, 9 October 2003 19:08 (twenty-one years ago)

Regarding a proposed Richmond FAP - I can't, as I'll be with the gf's family then. They happened to be visiting us at the time of the Baltimore FAP, so you can see where it would look bad for it to happen twice. Oh well.

Girolamo Savonarola, Thursday, 9 October 2003 19:11 (twenty-one years ago)

That's cool, like I said, we'll be in DC anyways.

NA (Nick A.), Thursday, 9 October 2003 19:13 (twenty-one years ago)

and yes, that's huge, sorry.

TOMBOT, Thursday, 9 October 2003 20:15 (twenty-one years ago)

Great.

Will they also sell straight scotch to me?

Ally (mlescaut), Thursday, 9 October 2003 20:17 (twenty-one years ago)

They will. But they have no draft beer, which is a minus.

mookieproof (mookieproof), Thursday, 9 October 2003 20:47 (twenty-one years ago)

to me

mookieproof (mookieproof), Thursday, 9 October 2003 20:47 (twenty-one years ago)

We should just go sit on a street corner outside my company's hotel and heckle people.

Ally @ school, Thursday, 9 October 2003 22:20 (twenty-one years ago)

Cool--just remember, you can't buy 40's at the corner store after 10pm. As if having no representation in Congress weren't enough.

mookieproof (mookieproof), Thursday, 9 October 2003 22:26 (twenty-one years ago)

Really? That's so lame, what in the world is that? God, just all of you come to NYC and we'll say it's DC.

I wish I could be more helpful to this thread but I really have no clue what to do in DC besides listing all the places my coworkers all take the same secretary, or at least claim to when they're really out banging hookers.

Like meeting at 9 or 10 seems good?

Ally @ school, Thursday, 9 October 2003 22:31 (twenty-one years ago)

We can smoke here though. Wait, I don't smoke, so that doesn't help.

Um, if j.lu wants to see the movie at Visions, I suggest maybe the Pharmacy in Adams Morgan (18th & Belmont). It's not too far away and has an ILX-ish jukebox. Plus a lot of Latvian rokk.

mookieproof (mookieproof), Thursday, 9 October 2003 22:40 (twenty-one years ago)

"ILX-ish jukebox"??! :/

Ally @ school, Thursday, 9 October 2003 22:42 (twenty-one years ago)

well. Admittedly, I haven't seen Turbonegro there, but I swear it's the best jukebox in town.

mookieproof (mookieproof), Thursday, 9 October 2003 22:59 (twenty-one years ago)

Pharmacy Bar, very cool. Shall we say 9pm?

Visions is about halfway between the Brickskeller and the Pharmacy Bar; we could probably hit both during the evening and still get to the movies at midnight.

If it weren't for the cost of housing I'd be interested in relocating to NYC.

j.lu (j.lu), Thursday, 9 October 2003 23:25 (twenty-one years ago)

okay. I'll be the tall guy drinking beer.

mookieproof (mookieproof), Thursday, 9 October 2003 23:45 (twenty-one years ago)

Nick and I will be there with our bad PowerBook ownin' selves.

Sarah McLusky (coco), Thursday, 9 October 2003 23:49 (twenty-one years ago)

OK I will be there, hou all sodl me on this plan. WOO hoo ooo

Ally (mlescaut), Friday, 10 October 2003 02:21 (twenty-one years ago)

Update: turns out my sister will be in town too, so my parents might want to do some kind of family thing on Saturday night. If not, my sister might want to come along too, but she's 21 and cool so that would be ok. But Ally, Tom, j. lu, can one or all of you send me your cell phone nos. again so I can call you if plans change?

NA (Nick A.), Friday, 10 October 2003 11:49 (twenty-one years ago)

Done.

Ally (mlescaut), Friday, 10 October 2003 12:54 (twenty-one years ago)

Ally I never got your email. Did you sent it to: naamme @ yahoo.com?

NA (Nick A.), Friday, 10 October 2003 16:49 (twenty-one years ago)

My email is done fucked up today. I did, yes, you'll probably get it three weeks from now. I'm gonna resend from a diff account cos I had to run home to pack my shit anyway since I decided to drink heavily instead of, you know, pack my shit last night.

Ally (mlescaut), Friday, 10 October 2003 16:58 (twenty-one years ago)

(did you get it? Cos otherwise I"m just going to post my phone # on this thread)

Ally (mlescaut), Friday, 10 October 2003 17:52 (twenty-one years ago)

Nick went home from work early today, Ally. You can try emailing it to me.

Sarah MCLusky (coco), Friday, 10 October 2003 17:57 (twenty-one years ago)

Ooh the slacker!

Ally (mlescaut), Friday, 10 October 2003 18:08 (twenty-one years ago)

I got yer email though Ally, thanks.

NA (Nick A.), Friday, 10 October 2003 18:08 (twenty-one years ago)

So, you admit you're a slacker?

Sarah McLusky (coco), Friday, 10 October 2003 18:18 (twenty-one years ago)

Um.

we have been coerced by Pizza Christ to get mongoloid at Blob's Park tonight instead. Also at this point making it to DC and back in anything approaching a reasonable state of sobriety seems like a very sketchy proposition at best. again, my apologies.

TOMBOT, Saturday, 11 October 2003 23:01 (twenty-one years ago)

people who dont go to this, when they can...are stupid

charltonlido (gareth), Saturday, 11 October 2003 23:30 (twenty-one years ago)

U R ALL FUXX0RS

except for j.lu, who's awesome. i even showered and everything!

mookieproof (mookieproof), Sunday, 12 October 2003 02:37 (twenty-one years ago)

Well. Since only John (mookieproof, a most cool dude) and I made it to the Pharmacy Bar tonight, we agreed to call it a night early. (Fortunately I have beer at home.) Since Monday is a holiday, is anyone interested in meeting up Sunday evening at Brickskeller?

In the meantime, the Pharmacy Bar does indeed have the best jukebox I've seen so far in DC (no Turbonegro, tho).

j.lu (j.lu), Sunday, 12 October 2003 02:41 (twenty-one years ago)

We're sorry we couldn't make it. I think we're planning on seeing Kill Bill tomorrow but we might be available for a dinner meetup at the Brickskeller tomorrow. Depends on when we crawl out of bed. Peace!!!

TOMBOT, Sunday, 12 October 2003 03:02 (twenty-one years ago)

Brickskellar does have great buffalo burgers. Another good starting option would be the African diaspora food and mint-heavy mojitos at (decor-challenged, admittedly) Wazuri a few blocks up 18th St.

confi, Sunday, 12 October 2003 03:23 (twenty-one years ago)

Sorry. We got sucked into family hang-out time since my sister was in town (she lives in NYC and doesn't come down too often). We tried to call Tombot since we only had his number and Ally's number, but only got to leave a message. We're not in DC anymore, back home in Richmond now. But have fun without us. :(

NA (Nick A.), Sunday, 12 October 2003 23:00 (twenty-one years ago)

I got no messages! I thought I left you guys one on Sarah's phone. My service was acting up this weekend though, I wound up having to call verizon tech support and have them fix it so that may be the explanation. Next time Ally comes down and we're in DC we'll have to email you folks or give you a ring.

TOMBOT, Monday, 13 October 2003 01:20 (twenty-one years ago)

I think Charlton is being a dickface.

Ally (mlescaut), Monday, 13 October 2003 04:47 (twenty-one years ago)

So the honeymoon stage is over, Ally-zay?

Mary (Mary), Monday, 13 October 2003 19:24 (twenty-one years ago)

Well he called me stupid :(

Ally (mlescaut), Monday, 13 October 2003 19:32 (twenty-one years ago)

it's a team of endearment for Bradfordians. i know this because he calls me stupid all the time.
