Is he a knockoff of himself??? Was he always already a knock off of himself?!!! This movie sounds great!

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Monday, 6 October 2003 22:10 (twenty-one years ago)

I'd see it, just for the tongue planted firmly in cheek.....

Nichole Graham (Nichole Graham), Monday, 6 October 2003 22:13 (twenty-one years ago)

the vanity fair article this presumably springs off from was great

cinniblount (James Blount), Tuesday, 7 October 2003 05:03 (twenty-one years ago)

What, "Being Ozzy Osbourne" didn't count?

Chris P (Chris P), Tuesday, 7 October 2003 05:14 (twenty-one years ago)

Any why is someone named Allen Conway playing John Malkovich in this movie? Sounds like the ninth level of meta-hell.

Kenan Hebert (kenan), Tuesday, 7 October 2003 09:09 (twenty-one years ago)

the problem with this film begins, but does not end, with its title.

amateurist (amateurist), Tuesday, 7 October 2003 09:27 (twenty-one years ago)

Hadn't that Kubrick impersonator been around for ages? There was that Graham Greene one too.

N. (nickdastoor), Tuesday, 7 October 2003 10:22 (twenty-one years ago)

Yeah, he was definitely around before "Eyes Wide Shut".

Tuomas (Tuomas), Tuesday, 7 October 2003 13:38 (twenty-one years ago)

do you think he got a retirement package when Kubrick died? I mean, it sorta puts him out of work, no?

Horace Mann (Horace Mann), Tuesday, 7 October 2003 19:13 (twenty-one years ago)

There's a guy down the chipshop swears he's Stanley Kubrick.

N. (nickdastoor), Tuesday, 7 October 2003 20:26 (twenty-one years ago)

Colour me vaguel interested!

s1utsky (slutsky), Wednesday, 8 October 2003 01:26 (twenty-one years ago)

Colour me Vogue: Two vocal groups rarely heard from since the early 90s unite for a cross-country tour of cowboy bars. Romantic Comedy.

Horace Mann (Horace Mann), Wednesday, 8 October 2003 14:59 (twenty-one years ago)

I would so go see that movie, HM. wearing hammer pants.

colette (a2lette), Wednesday, 8 October 2003 15:21 (twenty-one years ago)

it was a very weird caper all round this, as the bloke actually
convinced joe longthorne (!!!) that he really was kubrick
and that he wanted him in his new film. he literally looked nothing
like him. just before he died (suicide ? apologies if not) he left
a note for his son *signed* 'stanley'. it was a way interesting story.

piscesboy, Wednesday, 8 October 2003 16:40 (twenty-one years ago)

when did this actually come out?

BIG HOOS aka the steendriver, Sunday, 24 June 2007 10:13 (seventeen years ago)

I think they were showing it in Finnish cinemas a couple of years ago, so 2005 sounds about right. This thread was probably started when the movie was still in production, and, you know, sometimes it can take ages to get a movie released.

Tuomas, Sunday, 24 June 2007 10:21 (seventeen years ago)

Though if you look at the released dates on the IMDb page, it seems it was only released in the US in March 2007, which would explain the Wiki date.

Tuomas, Sunday, 24 June 2007 10:23 (seventeen years ago)

Your explanation is satisfactory.

BIG HOOS aka the steendriver, Sunday, 24 June 2007 10:45 (seventeen years ago)
