Say you're trapped on a desert island, but you find the POO Genie of Ironic Choices. It gives the choice of having unhampered and unlimited access to one artistic medium. What do you pick?

Well, music. Then I can bury the speakers around the island and create ambient sound as desired.

Is food an artistic medium? Because that's pretty essential...

Music is the food of love, plus it has no calories. So hurrah.

Ned I'd recommend you try to assemble for your island a mint, vintage SQ Quad setup. True, there was a limited number of titles available, but take advantage of the opportunity to conceal the four loudspeakers in a variety of locations, and you'll be living in SQ style.

Actually, I don't recommend that. But I wonder if anyone, any enthusiast (such a mild word for what is really being described) has put such a setup together. Vintage SQ reciever, the recommended turntable (surely a Dual) and speakers... and just has it set up in a room. I'm not sure what purpose this would serve, really. But the ways of the enthusiast are often obscure.

Fine woodworking - I'll make an intricately-carved dining-room table that doubles as a raft.

I thought this was going to be a thread about Piero Manzoni and Chris Ofili.

I thought this was a thread about how I like my steak: medium-rare of course

Film - (very much a "Duh!" choice for me), as I do love it so, plus I do get to hear good music from time to time in them. I could definitely see myself watching a lot of cheesier movies just to get the good tunes, though. Definitely.

Theater. Lots of company from the various companies. And you could probably stowaway on one of the boats as the leave to continue on their tour.
