Since he and his family own the company I work for, I'm wondering if I'll get the day off work?

You deserve it. So far I like Gary Hache' by Andrew Vincent. It's a bit Lou Reed, a bit Jonathan Richman. You might like Hamell on Trial if you like this.

This wasn't expected wasn't it? Hmm media shakeup time.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Tuesday, 7 October 2003 16:38 (twenty-one years ago)

I kinda doubt there will be much shakeup from this, though it wasn't expected. David and Leonard have been running the bizz of Izz for a few years anyway while the Izz-ster concentrated on his various causes, incl. Zionism and having infomercials count towards Canadian Content quotas.

Horace Mann (Horace Mann), Tuesday, 7 October 2003 16:47 (twenty-one years ago)

What, is this guy the Rupert Murdoch of Canada or something?

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 7 October 2003 16:49 (twenty-one years ago)

Not that bad but yeah.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Tuesday, 7 October 2003 16:53 (twenty-one years ago)

yeah.
At one point he owned around a third of Canada's daily papers and the second largest private broadcaster. I think he also has stakes in a few US papers incl the Chicago Tribune and I know they've been quite successful in Australia and New Zealand, which may even be some sort of spiteful stab against Murdoch/

Horace Mann (Horace Mann), Tuesday, 7 October 2003 16:54 (twenty-one years ago)

(they've since ditched a lot of the smaller dailies, incl Chris Piuma's favourite, the Moose Jaw Times-Herald)

Horace Mann (Horace Mann), Tuesday, 7 October 2003 16:55 (twenty-one years ago)

It was kinda amusing because between Conrad Black being conservative and Izzy being liberal everything sorta came out in the wash. Course now Conrad renounced his Canadian citizenship to become a British lord and Izzy's passed on.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Tuesday, 7 October 2003 16:57 (twenty-one years ago)

Is the MJT-H up for sale? It couldn't cost more than a few hundred smackeroos, could it?

Chris P (Chris P), Tuesday, 7 October 2003 17:07 (twenty-one years ago)

I wonder if Lawrence Martin will get his job back?

Horace Mann (Horace Mann), Tuesday, 7 October 2003 17:08 (twenty-one years ago)

Fox has told him that they have a Thursday night slot waiting for him.

Scott hooked up with Thomas Miller, of Regina
Word to that!

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Tuesday, 7 October 2003 17:19 (twenty-one years ago)

I wonder if Miller High School in Regina is named after him. I always liked to imagine that it was named after Henry or Roger.

Horace Mann (Horace Mann), Tuesday, 7 October 2003 17:24 (twenty-one years ago)

Man, that reminds me, I really need to send them a copy of my CD.

Chris P (Chris P), Tuesday, 7 October 2003 18:22 (twenty-one years ago)

Wow, I hadn't heard about this.
