Virus that screws up dates and file sizes?

Yeah, so after a week of doing some heavy image rendering in photoshop, I found out that the current date on my computer is -1412100/0/0 and changes everytime I look at it. My clock displays oddly (i.e. 1:5 rather than 1:05) and my 5 GB external hard drive says:

Capacity: 42 GB
Available:18 GB
Used: 23 GB on disk 2É533É560É320 bytes) for 4É085 items

I have no idea what É means, but everything seems to be fucked up and includes a É in the file size.

I updated my Virex definitions (got the latest from Sept. 10, 2001) and then trashed my system preferences, restarted with extensions off, ran Virex with the new preferences and after it crashed a few times on ITC Avant Garde and Helvetica, I finally threw out an entire fonts folder and tried again. It didn't find any viruses or trojan horses.

So, then I ran Norton Utilities disk doctor and repaired all problems it found, optimized the hard drives and restarted, rebuilt the desk top and it still is all fucked up.

Anyone heard of a virus like this, recent or otherwise? I'm just trying to figure out if I should scrap everything I completed in the last week and maybe get a new computer or something. What a bummer...

Erm, I think it's my battery. I ordered a new G4 anyway, as I'd wanted to before I got laid off. But, if this happens to you, it's probably just your battery. So, leave your computer on constantly until you can find the time to change the battery cuz when the computer's off, your battery is on. That was a fun way to spend my entire weekend, though, worrying like that.
