I will do my best to make it. I like the Foundry. I'll try to bring HSA as well.

kate (kate), Wednesday, 8 October 2003 12:40 (twenty-one years ago)

i went to the Foundry for the first time last night - they had live piano and some awful spoken word readings going on but i didn't notice where the voice was coming from (too busy trying not to fall off my chair, heh)

stevem (blueski), Wednesday, 8 October 2003 12:43 (twenty-one years ago)

i will come to this tho as it's only down the road from my work now, what time does it start Ed?

stevem (blueski), Wednesday, 8 October 2003 12:44 (twenty-one years ago)

7 I think, Ambrose?

Ed (dali), Wednesday, 8 October 2003 12:46 (twenty-one years ago)

The Foundry used to be my local -sniff- and yeah, they have some pretty dodgy art/poetry/whatever things going on, but there's other floors you can go to if you don't want to have it inflicted upon you.

Ha ha, my first "date" with HSA was at the Foundry. There was one of those scary poetry reading things going on, which I walked in on, then turned around and walked out of, and ran into HSA on his way in. "Don't go in there!" I insisted. "There's poetry going on in there and I am CATEGORICALLY AGAINST POETRY!!!" He laughed but agreed to go somewhere else for a drink. I later found out his grandfather was a proper poet... he did, however, forgive me for hating poetry.

Anyway... erm... yeah. It's owned by the KLF, isn't it? They'll let anyone do whatever art stuff they like there on the one condition that it has NOTHING AT ALL TO DO WITH THE ARTS COUNCIL.

I think it's Bill D and Gimpo's bar but I'm not sure. That big neon T is one of Mr. Drummond's finest works, I'll have you know.

Tim (Tim), Wednesday, 8 October 2003 12:53 (twenty-one years ago)

it did make me think of The Buzzing Sign bar in The Simpsons so i have to agree

stevem (blueski), Wednesday, 8 October 2003 12:59 (twenty-one years ago)

It is, bill d's bar.

Ed (dali), Wednesday, 8 October 2003 13:00 (twenty-one years ago)

I like the big rotating thing in the basement, which it is fun to get drunk on and whiz round faster and faster until you get dizzy and fall off or Tracey comes down and yells at you cause the neighbours are complaining again. :-)

kate (kate), Wednesday, 8 October 2003 13:10 (twenty-one years ago)

Ach, sorry, it now looks like we can't come. Forgot to check with my other half first, and it turns out some weirdy beardy experimental music mates of his are playing at the South Bank Centre and we've got to go to that. Can you just hear the excitement just dripping from my voice at the prospect?

kate (kate), Thursday, 9 October 2003 08:25 (twenty-one years ago)

there is now live banjo for 10 minutes. the whole thing starts at 7. dont ask me about the banjo. i dont know what is happening about that. but it should be happening.
also, the chocolate brownies are burnt. so that sucks.

ambrose (ambrose), Thursday, 9 October 2003 09:49 (twenty-one years ago)

bump bump bumpity bump

Ed (dali), Thursday, 9 October 2003 15:53 (twenty-one years ago)

I don't think I can come (as discussed with stevem last night). My mum made me promise to be early tonight*.

*By which I mean, it'll be around 8.30pm that she gets pissed off with me for not being at home and phone-nags incessantly.

Barima (Barima), Thursday, 9 October 2003 16:07 (twenty-one years ago)

ed @ ns, Thursday, 9 October 2003 20:09 (twenty-one years ago)

the banjoist was cool, he really didn't give a damn you know

electropop girl Horowitz also not bad, good Korging, but i'd like any girl in an outfit like hers myself

stevem (blueski), Friday, 10 October 2003 08:43 (twenty-one years ago)

I had to deal with an evening of Sacred Music made by Satanists instead.

Some of it was pretty cool. I enjoyed Chris & Cosey. Current 93 got REALLY OLD REALLY FAST though. God, I hate mincepop. Or mincegoth or mincefolk or whatever the hell that was supposed to be. Stop mincing and bouncing up and down getting really stroppy with your bad poetry, I'm trying to listen to the pretty chamber music.

kate (kate), Friday, 10 October 2003 08:46 (twenty-one years ago)

I saw UNDERWORLD! And it even bored me silly which is saying something. I think my next knitting project will be to knit K. Beckinsale a nice Aran jumper.

I also got lost at Surrey Quays AGAIN and have decided that that whole entire area is one giant vortex. Chiz.

Sarah (starry), Friday, 10 October 2003 08:52 (twenty-one years ago)

oooh me head

Ed (dali), Friday, 10 October 2003 08:56 (twenty-one years ago)

for a second i thought Sarah meant etc.

stevem (blueski), Friday, 10 October 2003 08:57 (twenty-one years ago)

Underworld is one of the worst movies ever made. And about an hour too long. And you keep waiting for something to happen, and it doesn't. ANd you keep waiting for an explanation of WTF is going on, and you never get one. And gangs of pretty boys who are just dying to paint my toenails keep turning up and just STANDING THERE and then ending up doing nothing and never being shown again. Sigh.

HSA and I played Spot The Goth last night. I won, I won, I won, I won, I won - eventually we gave up when we both had, like, 200 points each.

kate (kate), Friday, 10 October 2003 08:59 (twenty-one years ago)

Mostly I have been typing it as UNDERWURLDE but did the proper name this time to avoid people talking about ye old skool video game and completely FORGOT about the young peoples dancing music ect

Sarah (starry), Friday, 10 October 2003 09:00 (twenty-one years ago)

Underworld was v good.
