He in his mid career remade signs of letters salvaged from commerical signage. They were these large objects, ripped out of their context and put together to make phrases that indicated mailaise (sp) anger or lonliness. Recently he has been making signs himself, usign the same themes but being more generic and overtly commerical.
SO use this thread to dicuss the implications of the readymade and what happens if an artist rejects it ?

this is what I'd like to consider: who made it, where has it been and what does this bring to the artwork's meaning? If the object has been transformed so that it's origins and history are concealed, (say it has been torn, mutilated or partially destroyed) when did the transformation occur? At what point did it cease be what it once was and become something else? Does it ever really become something else or will it's other life residue hang around forever?
