*INSANE HOUR LONG CACKLE OF THE HAPPILY DAMNED*

*frantically dials the men in white coats*

adaml (adaml), Thursday, 9 October 2003 21:32 (twenty-one years ago)

You know you're a geek when....

*stays put, comfortably a thousand miles away*

Many Coloured Halo (Dee the Lurker), Thursday, 9 October 2003 21:33 (twenty-one years ago)

do you really think it was going to sell out?

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Thursday, 9 October 2003 21:34 (twenty-one years ago)

Chow, if Ned took so long to get through, you know how popular the marathon is.

Nichole Graham (Nichole Graham), Thursday, 9 October 2003 21:35 (twenty-one years ago)

Nichole! Enough with the "Chow"!

also, I was just thinking maybe there were U2 tickets or something that came up for sale at the same time...

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Thursday, 9 October 2003 21:40 (twenty-one years ago)

It wasn't through Ticketmaster but AMC's own internal ticket selling deal -- they don't use Fandango. However, in a brilliant strategic move:

* they put all the tickets throughout the nation on sale at the same time

* they make every participating theater use the one sole server setup through the general website.

Result -- calamity! So basically the geek masses mobilized, swamped AMC and affiliates with complaints, and now they're authorizing various theaters to just sell direct.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 9 October 2003 21:46 (twenty-one years ago)

So thats why my coworker wasn't in today.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Thursday, 9 October 2003 21:48 (twenty-one years ago)

And having gotten my tickets, I see on the theonering.net page about all this that apparently the box office at the theater in the area showing this, the AMC 30 at the Block in Orange, IS about to sell out, so yes, Spencer, I had reason! ;-)

(You'll also note that my own contribution to the page includes a trademark smiley. :-))

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 9 October 2003 21:51 (twenty-one years ago)

wow, I would totally sit through this.

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Thursday, 9 October 2003 21:54 (twenty-one years ago)

I hope to hell they at least let us out of the theaters during the breaks to get cheap(er) food, but I dunno...

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 9 October 2003 22:00 (twenty-one years ago)

I love those movies, but to be cooped up in a movie theater for 9+ hours would be complete torture. Ned, if I ever had any doubts about you being a mentalist they've been cleared up now.

Nicolars (Nicole), Thursday, 9 October 2003 22:03 (twenty-one years ago)

bring a picnic in your backpack! wine, sanwiches, etc!

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Thursday, 9 October 2003 22:04 (twenty-one years ago)

They've got you right where they want you....and they know it: be ready for sky-high(er) prices, and coin machines installed in the restrooms.

Nichole Graham (Nichole Graham), Thursday, 9 October 2003 22:06 (twenty-one years ago)

Enough to feed a family of 5 would be wise

Nichole Graham (Nichole Graham), Thursday, 9 October 2003 22:07 (twenty-one years ago)

Ned, what if you actually go mental??? Have you considerd that? You could get Gandalf complex or something...

adaml (adaml), Thursday, 9 October 2003 22:09 (twenty-one years ago)

...we can joke, but this is serious stuff.

adaml (adaml), Thursday, 9 October 2003 22:09 (twenty-one years ago)

Ned, if I ever had any doubts about you being a mentalist they've been cleared up now

Lars, I know I'll be outing myself, but: I'd do that, too! No doubt each theatre will have the riot police out in force in case a film reel snaps.

Nichole Graham (Nichole Graham), Thursday, 9 October 2003 22:10 (twenty-one years ago)

ILXors in being insane supergeeks shocker.

Ally @ school, Thursday, 9 October 2003 22:26 (twenty-one years ago)

Would I be subject to a lynchmob if I said I hadn't even seen the first one?

luna (luna.c), Thursday, 9 October 2003 22:27 (twenty-one years ago)

It was kind of irritating to be honest, you didn't miss much. The second one was pretty good from what I remember. I mean they got Orlando Bloom in it so it can't be all bad.

Ally @ school, Thursday, 9 October 2003 22:32 (twenty-one years ago)

Ned, if I ever had any doubts about you being a mentalist they've been cleared up now.

Hurrah! I'm validated!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 9 October 2003 23:31 (twenty-one years ago)

You act like it was ever questioned;> (notice the present smiley)

Nichole Graham (Nichole Graham), Thursday, 9 October 2003 23:33 (twenty-one years ago)

Nicolars herself states that she might have had doubts = you need glasses. ;-)

Actually, 9+ hours, a mere trifle: the first film will start screening at 1 pm and the whole thing will conclude at around 1:30 am, assuming reports about the final film being three and a half hours remain true.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 9 October 2003 23:39 (twenty-one years ago)

Sod that, then the built-in lasers wouldn't focus. Remember the meaning of irony, sirrah?;>

Nichole Graham (Nichole Graham), Thursday, 9 October 2003 23:44 (twenty-one years ago)

Irony I know nothing about. Ironing is delicious.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 9 October 2003 23:46 (twenty-one years ago)

And here I thought your degree would have actually been useful;>

Everytime I resign myself to my nerdiness, I see something like those t-shirts and have a total Cool Kid reaction.
