I spilled some tea on my keyboard last week and despite shaking the keyboard upside down for ten minutes and drying it gently with a hairdryer, the 'c' key went all sticky and wouldn't work properly.

It's okay now, mostly because I swapped it for a co-worker's keyboard when they weren't looking.

http://www.pricewatch.com/ will find you a cheap USB keyboard, though likely from an unreasonable and untrustworthy dealer.

If its a standard Apple USB keyboard, those keys should pry off easily. Might be worthwhile taking them off and cleaning them off separately, to prevent sticky juice from clogging things up.

It took me about a week to get my Apple keyboard working after spilling tea on it...if you can borrow someones keyboard, unplug yours before you do any further damage, and wait it out.

I lost my letter B in a vacuum cleaner incident with my old laptop, but once I figured out how the parts went, I got the button back on with some tweezers (tiny little parts are tough to work with with just fingers).

It seems that it would be a pain to take the whole keyboard apart, but three letters wouldn't be that bad.

OK wait I have to chime in here. My old iBook had a sticky key and I pried it off. You CANNOT put the keys back on again. They snap off and that's it. I managed to get it halfway back on, but it was always on the verge of falling off again. Now on my PowerBook in the last couple days the return key has gotten stuck; it barely works at all. I am tempted to pry it off to see if something got stuck underneath it, but the keys appear to be the same style as those on the iBook. Once you snap them off, you've pretty much broken it.

Bright sides: topics to freestyle about; bleeding edge of new l33t slang.

Re: Sean, standard Apple keyboard == not laptop keyboard
