not ned, Friday, 10 October 2003 21:01 (twenty-one years ago)

(in case you were wondering, Mr Raggett is at the airport at this very moment, and therefore unable to reach his computer. Because of this unfortunate inconvenience, he has begged me to please start up a thread on his behalf, in hopes that said thread will be full of goodness by the time he has touched down in the UK.

Please leave a message after the beep.

He assures me that as soon as he is back online, he will return your kindness in kind ...)

BEEEEEEEEEEEP!

ned's secretary ;), Friday, 10 October 2003 21:20 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm counting the minutes until his arrival here in London's glamorous East Ham. I guess it's probably under 1000 now...

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Friday, 10 October 2003 21:22 (twenty-one years ago)

GOODNESS

Leee (Leee), Friday, 10 October 2003 21:24 (twenty-one years ago)

luna (luna.c), Friday, 10 October 2003 21:25 (twenty-one years ago)

I kip on your sofa now ;-)

Matt (Matt), Friday, 10 October 2003 21:46 (twenty-one years ago)

oh hey Ned, not sure if I'll see ya 'til Friday. But, yeah, heavens and all that.

jel -- (jel), Saturday, 11 October 2003 09:32 (twenty-one years ago)

Do we have any firm plans for tomorrow, after Ned sees the Lord Of The Rings exhibition at the Science Museum? Ailsa is around for a few hours up to lunchtime and it would be good to meet her.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Saturday, 11 October 2003 09:41 (twenty-one years ago)

Ned, I have made the weather be all autumnally lovely and sunny for your arrival!

C J (C J), Saturday, 11 October 2003 10:31 (twenty-one years ago)

OK, we have a Ned, in my living room now. See you all later.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Saturday, 11 October 2003 12:25 (twenty-one years ago)

wear protection.

RJG (RJG), Saturday, 11 October 2003 12:27 (twenty-one years ago)

Hey! You're mean. ;-)

LOTR thing will in fact be next Friday, but does anyone want to do anything tomorrow?

See everyone at the pub for the game in a few hours!

stevem (blueski), Saturday, 11 October 2003 13:16 (twenty-one years ago)

Great seeing everyone at the pub for the game, and afterward! Sorry I've gotten too incredibly tired to do a proper night out, but the jet lag finally hit. Apologies if the combination of that and drink made me more loopy and bizarro than usual. ;-) Night all! If there's something planned for tomorrow at all, please post it here! Otherwise I hope to see a lot of you on Thursday when Andrew and I arrive from Ireland!

Ned posting from Martin's address (Martin Skidmore), Saturday, 11 October 2003 20:40 (twenty-one years ago)

OK, we are going to meet up with Ailsa tomorrow (Sunday), I'm pretty sure, late morning/lunchtime, so if anyone fancies that email me or call me or something.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Saturday, 11 October 2003 20:49 (twenty-one years ago)

Great hearing from you lot. I hope you guys have tons of fun! :)

Many Coloured Halo (Dee the Lurker), Saturday, 11 October 2003 21:35 (twenty-one years ago)

Ned is a cool guy but a bit loopy ;)

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Saturday, 11 October 2003 21:57 (twenty-one years ago)

Darn you, sir! (But this is accurate.)

Anyway, hi there again to Gareth, Tim H, Jerry the Nipper and Carsmile, hi for the first time at long last to Mark C, his girlfriend (Sarah? am I remembering that right?), Mandee, Mark H Stevem, Julio, Cis and the man/myth/legend himself, the Pinefox! A grand night out as far as I can remember it but the lack of sleep was definitely wearing on me. However I'm awake and all caught up now, rah.

At this point Martin and I are watching the England/Georgia rugby match -- I'll be calling my friend Vinita later on, might go out to meet up with her in a bit, and then tomorrow it's off to Dublin (and another thread since they would protest at being lumped onto a UK trip thread, I'm sure).

So did we yet have specific plans for Thursday night? Curry, etc.?

Ned at Martin's place (Martin Skidmore), Sunday, 12 October 2003 12:08 (twenty-one years ago)

And now hi again -- to Pam, Mike Jones's wife (I hope I'm right there?) and all the good folks I met at the party my friend Vinita invited me to. Martin came along, we had a good ol' time, drinks were had, I was very loud and American. Yay! Off to Dublin tomorrow. :-)

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Sunday, 12 October 2003 20:08 (twenty-one years ago)

Oops, should have had said that was me just before. But the smiley gave it away I'm sure. ;-)

Ned at Martin's place (Martin Skidmore), Sunday, 12 October 2003 20:08 (twenty-one years ago)

here in Dublin we are having terrible fun trying to arrange a Nedfap.

DV (dirtyvicar), Monday, 13 October 2003 14:19 (twenty-one years ago)

Well, yes. :-)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 13 October 2003 14:58 (twenty-one years ago)

Firstly,

Cruciverbalist, Monday, 13 October 2003 17:41 (twenty-one years ago)

So I'm back in the UK and tonight I got to meet:

Ed and Suzy, who both rock (and Suzy in particular is a sweetheart)
Joe aka HSA! In the company of Kate, o' course. He seems a fine individual and we agreed on the worth of Viz, much to Kate's disdain.
Rob from Canada, a fine feller.
Matt DC, likewise!
The legendarily great and good Mark SinkAH! Who texted Rainy a message from us all, rah.
Ricky T., clearly a man of good heart and taste, who bought me a drink even.

Also, Mike D., Sarah, Andrew, Toby, Tim, Julio, Stevem, Pete and the man of dark dressed in black mystery himself, Tom Ewing, scholar and gent (and Nick Graham will be pleased to know that the card was delivered!).

I am feeling hungover already. The actual night of ruin is tomorrow. Sarah took a lovely picture of Mike and I. My head is hurting. I MUST SLEEP.

Ned at Martin's place (Martin Skidmore), Thursday, 16 October 2003 22:58 (twenty-one years ago)

(and Nick Graham will be pleased to know that the card was delivered!)

Wahey....I am, indeed! Merci, VB---rock!;> It should give M. Ewing a smile or summat, I hope.

(grin) Slightly envious you got to meet HSA, Ed and Suzy (as well as the crew I missed) before I did!

I am feeling hungover already

Imagine the lovely feeling you'll have by tomorrow night. Erm, like you've been smacked by five lorries!

Nichole Graham (Nichole Graham), Thursday, 16 October 2003 23:42 (twenty-one years ago)

[(grin)Kudos to Raggett's secretary, and all. Yet more evidence of her inherent coolness.]

Nichole Graham (Nichole Graham), Thursday, 16 October 2003 23:44 (twenty-one years ago)

hi Ned, it sounds like you are having a great time! I got that text message just as I was photographing a beetle called a Green Cockchafer, oh tee hee hee!

I would have sent a message back but my prepay is out of er, pay. However, I am just off to the shops to get some, so I shall bombard you and mark s with text love for when you wake up.

rainy (rainy), Friday, 17 October 2003 03:04 (twenty-one years ago)

I still demand pictures, Ned...

Girolamo Savonarola, Friday, 17 October 2003 04:15 (twenty-one years ago)

If I just had film in the camera...er.

Ned at Martin's place (Martin Skidmore), Friday, 17 October 2003 07:48 (twenty-one years ago)

Ah, and Stripester, Ned delivered yer greetings, so I transAtlantically wave back and say hello!

::also waves at Nic::

kate (kate), Friday, 17 October 2003 07:52 (twenty-one years ago)

argh i forgot my camera today - i hope someone brings one tonight

stevem (blueski), Friday, 17 October 2003 08:51 (twenty-one years ago)

I took a couple of pictures on my phone but I've not worked out how to copy them to my computer yet.

Ed (dali), Friday, 17 October 2003 09:59 (twenty-one years ago)

what you have to do is get a piece of greaseproof paper and place it over your phone and scribble over it with a pencil, the rub the other side othe tracing paper on your monitor, works every time ed ;)

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Friday, 17 October 2003 10:16 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm going to buy a big spiky camera for Stevem insertion purposes later.

Tim (Tim), Friday, 17 October 2003 10:19 (twenty-one years ago)

Refer to Wedding FAP thread for my further thoughts. Oh my, you people are geniuses. :-)

Ned at Martin's place (Martin Skidmore), Saturday, 18 October 2003 00:12 (twenty-one years ago)

Well, a grand afternoon and evening out -- met up with Ed and went to his and Suzy's place, saw Gareth as well, Kate and HSA came over and all of us minus Gareth went out to Southall. Met up with Stevem there, shopped a bit in a pretty good market, had some excellent and cheap food and desserts, were shouted at by lager louts and Tory party members (the same thing in the end?), went back into the city, Ed and Suzy and I hung out at their place, Tracer and two friends of Gareth came over, they all went out with Gareth to LFO and I headed home and here I am. :-)

And that's really about it for me -- gonna get some sleep, then I'm up and out very early for home. To everyone and anyone who I met, especially to my patient and gracious hosts Andrew and Martin, my thanks to y'all putting up with me. Had a wonderful week plus and it was great and a half. :-)

Ned at Martin's place (Martin Skidmore), Saturday, 18 October 2003 21:14 (twenty-one years ago)

have a good flight Ned :-)

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Saturday, 18 October 2003 21:17 (twenty-one years ago)

and all of us minus Gareth went out to Southall

I am worried by this statement, as I was looking after my mum at the time (she has banged her head!).

Nick Southall (Nick Southall), Saturday, 18 October 2003 23:13 (twenty-one years ago)

Aw. Hope she is well.

I'm home safe, sleepy and jetlagged as hell. Yay! Regular service tomorrow, maybe.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Sunday, 19 October 2003 23:56 (twenty-one years ago)

welcome back!

teeny (teeny), Monday, 20 October 2003 00:18 (twenty-one years ago)

Rah! You should have been there. Hell, everyone should have.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 20 October 2003 00:20 (twenty-one years ago)

When do we see proper pictures?

Casuistry (Chris P), Monday, 20 October 2003 00:44 (twenty-one years ago)

When I get them scanned. You know, like last year's Australia/New Zealand pic...oh wait.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 20 October 2003 00:59 (twenty-one years ago)

Ach no! At least shill out for a CD-ROM of the photos, then.

Casuistry (Chris P), Monday, 20 October 2003 01:14 (twenty-one years ago)

I have heard of this CD-ROM thing.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 20 October 2003 01:18 (twenty-one years ago)

Ask you local Fotomat employee for details.

Casuistry (Chris P), Monday, 20 October 2003 01:21 (twenty-one years ago)

I have heard of this Fotomat.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 20 October 2003 01:23 (twenty-one years ago)

I have heard of this...how you say?...e-mail.

Strong Bad, Monday, 20 October 2003 02:31 (twenty-one years ago)

Fifthly,

Cruciverbalist, Monday, 20 October 2003 13:06 (twenty-one years ago)

Glad you had a good trip Ned, apologies that I couldn't make it down to London to meet up.

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Monday, 20 October 2003 13:57 (twenty-one years ago)

we missed you pp, glad you're back safe Ned - have a mango lassi for me

stevem (blueski), Monday, 20 October 2003 14:31 (twenty-one years ago)

Rah mango lassi! Next time, Pinkpanther. :-)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 20 October 2003 16:44 (twenty-one years ago)

Yeah, I feel kind of bad I never made it, though I did get to speak to Martin and apologise - my time in London was severely limited, and I am terrifically disorganised at the best of times (though I did manage to meet Carsmile Steve for the quickest pint in history and the last ten minutes of the Scotland v Japan match) before panicking that we wouldn't make it to Gatwick in time. Next time?

ailsa (ailsa), Monday, 20 October 2003 16:56 (twenty-one years ago)

The Crown Prince of ILX has returned, and the rest of the collective cheers for the return of the status quo;>

Glad you had a good trip Ned, apologies that I couldn't make it down to London to meet up.

(grin) Pink and I did try to hash out the possibilities....

Nichole Graham (Nichole Graham), Monday, 20 October 2003 18:49 (twenty-one years ago)

So she could get that party started?

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 20 October 2003 19:20 (twenty-one years ago)

Possibly, though the economics of arranging it long-distance stumped even me, dammit.

Nichole Graham (Nichole Graham), Monday, 20 October 2003 19:30 (twenty-one years ago)
