hey, so yes i am still in this implied race with a certain friendster to see who can get the most and i am friendstering peoples left and right. apologies to any of u who resented unsolicited invites..

but i'm just wondering for the people who (and this is not about me, but in general) who decline and say "no" - why would u not want more friendsters added to the list? i can understand if its 'coz you're following a strict definition of "friend" and only want to accept people you really know or only those you've met i person, but if its not this. but otherwise, i guess its an image thing ?

You're not "Cheese Burger," are you?

maura (maura), Saturday, 11 October 2003 05:24 (twenty-one years ago)

I am not to sure what this friendster thing is. I am not the most savvy when it comes to these new trends. Seems kind of odd to me. Trying to recruit (from what have gathered) a bunch of people to say that they would be your friend. Seems like a crazy popularity contest. I hated that shit I school. I know exactly who my friends are, and have a pretty good idea when I meet someone whether they will become a friend or stay an acquaintance. I also believe that acquaintances are very underestimated.

Please enlighten me on this Friendster thingamajig, and just the gist will do.

Vic (Vic), Saturday, 11 October 2003 06:09 (twenty-one years ago)

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Saturday, 11 October 2003 07:31 (twenty-one years ago)

Friendster has entertained me constantly since about April. It's gotten me laid, it's caused me to fall in love. It's brought about heartbreak and has helped me wreck homes.

Friendster rules.

Also, I'm laving freestyle rap testimonials for my 100+ friends/

A Girl Named Sam (thatgirl), Saturday, 11 October 2003 07:57 (twenty-one years ago)

Sam, are you leaving me a freestyle rap haiku? Because that would be doubleplus awexome.

Chris P (Chris P), Saturday, 11 October 2003 18:51 (twenty-one years ago)

wow. . .i'll have to work on that one. good idea though. hmm.

i've fallen behind on my rap testimonials. i think i've left about 35 so far. some of them are really hard!

A Girl Named Sam (thatgirl), Saturday, 11 October 2003 19:24 (twenty-one years ago)

slacker.

Kingfish (Kingfish), Saturday, 11 October 2003 22:52 (twenty-one years ago)

have abt 30 friendsters and I'm really slacking on the testimonial front.

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Sunday, 12 October 2003 12:35 (twenty-one years ago)

I will only friendster people I've actually met in person. I've had stacks of requests from people I've not only never met but never heard of. It's rather peculiar.

Lara (Lara), Sunday, 12 October 2003 13:39 (twenty-one years ago)

I am also an untouchable.

RJG (RJG), Sunday, 12 October 2003 13:56 (twenty-one years ago)

I have been on friendster for about a month now.

most of my friendsters I haven't met in person but they are all ILXORS (and the ones I have met have been through ILX).

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Sunday, 12 October 2003 13:57 (twenty-one years ago)

I am also an untouchable.

I ran my fingers through your hair once but I don't think you noticed.

Lara (Lara), Sunday, 12 October 2003 14:01 (twenty-one years ago)

i've never checked out friendster but why would you only accept people who are already your friends, what would an online service do for already existing friendships? i thought it was about meeting people or something.

Maria (Maria), Sunday, 12 October 2003 15:15 (twenty-one years ago)

thats what im sayin

Vic (Vic), Sunday, 12 October 2003 17:38 (twenty-one years ago)

Not really. It's supposed to be about listing your actual, current friends and then using that network to exchange messages with/meet up with friends of their friends.

N. (nickdastoor), Sunday, 12 October 2003 17:42 (twenty-one years ago)

it's about whatever the hell you want it to be about. Out of my 116, some i've met, some i haven't, a few i've slept with and a few i'm working on. there are also cities, dogs, skate ramps, bands, dead authors, etc and i love them all.

A Girl Named Sam (thatgirl), Sunday, 12 October 2003 17:44 (twenty-one years ago)

Sam, lets testimonialize each other soon. maybe i'll try to haiku for you

Vic (Vic), Sunday, 12 October 2003 18:15 (twenty-one years ago)

By 'supposed' I meant how the creator of the site meant it to work. Yes, use it however the hell you want to.

N. (nickdastoor), Sunday, 12 October 2003 23:16 (twenty-one years ago)

OK, I'm relatively new to Friendster - still debating the various issues around it (is it just a popularity contest, i.e., 'Look at all the Friendsters I Have!, or a good people-meeting thing, or both...).

Glad to see some ILXors are on there - but how do I find you/add you? I tried a couple but the names/emails didn't match anyone...(?)

Rob Bolton (Rob Bolton), Monday, 13 October 2003 12:19 (twenty-one years ago)

I think if u unlock the Ned, u get them all

Baaderist (Fabfunk), Monday, 13 October 2003 12:20 (twenty-one years ago)

I haven't bothered with Friendster. I waste too much time on the internet and have a problem keeping up with people as it is.

Anna (Anna), Monday, 13 October 2003 12:23 (twenty-one years ago)

I think the creators may well put adverts on there soon, making them pots of dosh. That's how it's meant to work.

mei (mei), Monday, 13 October 2003 12:24 (twenty-one years ago)

My mistake, there already are adverts.

mei (mei), Monday, 13 October 2003 12:25 (twenty-one years ago)

I am pleased to say, I am not on friendster!

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Monday, 13 October 2003 12:33 (twenty-one years ago)

I suppose the simple answer that maybe the people who reject you simply don't like you is a bit too cruel for ILX on a Monday morning?

Ally (mlescaut), Monday, 13 October 2003 12:37 (twenty-one years ago)

*winces*

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Monday, 13 October 2003 12:39 (twenty-one years ago)

I knew it. The truth hurts sometimes though!!

Ally (mlescaut), Monday, 13 October 2003 12:44 (twenty-one years ago)

This hideous albino bunny with a twee name like Little Blue Mumples (or some such) keeps friendstering me. It is the creation of a real friendster though. So, bonus question: Do you feel obligated to accept fakesters that are the creation of real friendsters?

Dale the Titled (cprek), Monday, 13 October 2003 12:52 (twenty-one years ago)

maybe the people who reject you simply don't like you is a bit too cruel for ILX on a Monday morning?

S-s-so...THATS why Joey McIntyre didn't become my friendster!! :( :{ =(

Vic (Vic), Monday, 13 October 2003 12:56 (twenty-one years ago)

No, Dale. You should probably unfriend your real friend as well for even thinking of something that stupid.

Ally (mlescaut), Monday, 13 October 2003 12:56 (twenty-one years ago)

You are absolutely right. "Not only do I reject your fakester, I find your attempt at humor offensively lame and have decided to sever all ties. Tah."

Dale the Titled (cprek), Monday, 13 October 2003 13:03 (twenty-one years ago)

Ally is cruel but right. Anna is less cruel but right.
