Did real boys in the 70s wear those skintight trousers to school?

I thought this was a complaint about Welcome Back Kotter, saying "it is pants". Bah!

Trayce (trayce), Monday, 13 October 2003 03:12 (twenty-one years ago)

Apparently not:

Trayce, I'd like my thoughts back, thank you. ;)

Seriously, though, I thought that the moment I saw the subject header, as well. Hurrah, great minds, all that!

He was a weird guy. Talked a lot about dating when you're older.

Pablo Cruise (chaki), Monday, 13 October 2003 16:56 (twenty-one years ago)

I just don't think I would trust Gabe Kaplan with my money.

Chris P (Chris P), Monday, 13 October 2003 17:25 (twenty-one years ago)

Compared to now, jeans, trousers, etc. were definately tighter. It almost seems a little creepy. I remember Welcome Back Kotter so well. John Travolta on the cover of Tiger Beat or whatever. Gabe Kaplan had a mousy wife on the show.

Sean (Sean), Tuesday, 14 October 2003 00:35 (twenty-one years ago)

I found the interview. It doesn't really do justice to how weird he was.

s1utsky (slutsky), Tuesday, 14 October 2003 00:37 (twenty-one years ago)

(though his first joke should give you some indication)

s1utsky (slutsky), Tuesday, 14 October 2003 00:38 (twenty-one years ago)

Gabe Kaplan had a mousy wife on the show.

That being Marcia Strassman, who had a west coast regional hit in 1967 with a hippie exploitation song called "The Flower Children". She turns up in the occasional TV series.

Elvis Telecom (Chris Barrus), Tuesday, 14 October 2003 00:42 (twenty-one years ago)

Kaplan himself appears to have a rudimentary web site at http://www.gabekaplan.com/
