If you have a CD burner, you can get one of those portable cd players that plays mp3s. I think they're only like $70. Do they work?

You could of course go for an MD player. They are almost as small, sony do one that you can copy music (not just mp3s) from the computer. I prefer them to mp3 players as the discs cost about 80p each, take a full cd of music (4 on my shiny new md player, admittedly at reduced quality). It means that I can keep a whole stash of mds around rather than have to load stuff up and down to my computer all the time. (I had one in my car aswell until someone butchered my car on friday night and removed it)

hee -- they is lovely. the recent ones have a x4 long-long-play mode which gets you 5 hours of music on one disk (costing little over a quid). compare with mp3 memory cards time/money bad.
