I hate my office's fire alarm. It seems to go off every week or two. They have "This is only a warning" and "Get the fuck OUTTA here" dings, neither of which let you work. I've always wondered how to get the first one and how often it is a small fire. It costs a fair bit of time and money to evacuate 30 odd floors of people.
Anyways, its dinging right now and its friggen annoying.

four weeks pass...

Man, it's been a long time since I participated in a fire drill. What I would give to go sit out by the riverbank right now and say "present" during the roll call.

In school, the fire drills would have the little bells. The tornado alarm was this howling siren. Nowadays, I suppose they have a special alarm for a school-shooting. Glad I got out when I did.

the last time I was involved in a fire drill I got the impression the uni security guards had set the alarms off so they could play at being bloody Judge Dredd for the afternoon, ooh some responsibility for them at last, how nice
