last time i was at dim sum i was eating this stuff that i thought was really chewy squares of tofu in sauce. turned out to be big pieces of skin from a pig's back ... what was that?

The (very good) sushi/thai place down the street from us just gutted their dim sum menu, but up 'till that point, the parsley dumplings and har gow were A+.

Missing the red vinegar and minced ginger in your xlb pic is criminal!

I can never remember the difference between all the pork dumplings at the couple of dim sum places I go to, or which ones I've had before. But I would eat all this pork dumplings all the same.

Favourites: the steamed pork and/or prawn dumplings with chives in, sticky rice with STUFF in wrapped in lotus leaf.

What is done way to eat dim sum? I always end up ordering something which is really hard to eat with chopsticks, at least without spearing, which I've heard is v. rude (but is about the only way I can ever manage to get anything near my mouth anyway)

photo should also be taken as the soup inside is bursting out when you take the first bite.

I wish the chopsticks weren't plastic; wood gives better grip. (yes ken, that innuendo was JUST FOR YOU).

KC, do you rate the Gerrard Place place with the steel trolleys?

Scratch this. We just found out they've "revised" and "simplified" their menu, eliminating all the dim sum and a bunch of other stuff. A change motivated by the economy, part of the management's broader effort to reduce their prices and attract more customers (esp. University students).

F----g economy.
