I Haf a Half Remembered Film Too!

Right - if Nightmare Nick can pick yr branes, so can I.

This film started on a plane. A whole bunch of random people were on it. Blah blah, flying flying. Then the plane starts going CRAZY, they all black out. They wake up, and there's only about 5 or 6 of them left. One of them is this "peculiar child" who I think might have been flying alone. They manage to land the plane at an airport. Which they then ALSO find deserted. They try to eat something, and all the milk has gone off like all the food. And the child can hear "something". And this something was VERY VERY BAD and it was approaching them. It was a long way away but this child could somehow hear it.

AND THEN for some reason I must have stopped watching the damn film, I think I fell asleep. This was maybe on C4 a few years back. Does anyone have idea what this could be, or what happened and what was going on?

If not, feel free to mutate this thread. But give it a go first, wouldja?

I dunno what this evil is... which is why it's getting to me!! And how come this child could hear it? Something to do with the child? Did time stop for a while and only these chaps survived? The main issue at the start of this film seemed to be them landing the plane, which was really tense, and they managed to do it - then it got even wierder...

mark s, Monday, 1 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

It's from a stephen king short story, The Langoilers

Samantha, Monday, 1 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Yep, it's 'The Langoliers' a 1995 tv movie based on a King novella of the same name. Written and Directed by Tom Holland, who also made one of my fave cheesy horrors, 'Fright Night'.

Andrew L, Monday, 1 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

isnt it a shame we have no video player. then we could get it out and watch it. what are you doing tonight?

alix, Monday, 1 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Did you not get my email?? Arse, I think it's broken again. Eastenders. Tonight: Kat tells Zoe that she's her mum and THAT UNCLE HARRY IS HER FATHER!!! Incest! Child abuse!! Help!!!

Am thinking of getting cheapo recorder actually. For Langoliers and Buffy Season 5 fun.

Sarah, Monday, 1 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Well if you didn't get my mail I'll ask here. Shall I get a bottle of red wine? I want to make carrot and ginger soup and in fact, pretend to be RickyT. Does anyone want to come over and watch Eastenders tonight, btw? I am very excited about it.

Sarah, Monday, 1 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

i am afraid i am reviewing a film called, very promisingly i feel, "ROCKSTAR!"

mark s, Monday, 1 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

i just got your mail and have replied. i have also included a far too detailed paragraph about that pauline quirke program on last night. please help me. what do you Do if theres nothing on tv?

alisx, Monday, 1 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

oh yes, please other people come over and watch tv with us. i'll do the hoovering and everhything. and make you cups of tea. NO I AM NOT LONELY

alix, Monday, 1 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I would love to come over and watch tv. anyone got a transporter? I'm so sorry that anyone has to watch Rockstar. The commercials alone are traumatizing -- Marky Mark as cock-rock singer, Jennifer Aniston as his devoted girlfriend. GAG!

Samantha, Monday, 1 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

It isn't a film called 'Paperhouse' is it? Where an ill kid has strange telepathic powers and it turns out the second half of the film is his projected Oedipal fear? (His dad is this baddy chasing him through increasingly uncanny landscapes).

Will McKenzie, Monday, 1 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Hang on, isn't 'Rockstar!' based on the story of Judas Priest? Because if it involves Judas Priest = it roX0r, surely?

Richard Tunnicliffe, Monday, 1 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Paperhouse = Bernard Rose's somewhat flawed movie of Marianne [??] Storr's very VERY grate children's book Marianne Dreams.

Samantha: do not attempt to influence the opinions of the Film Reviewer please! Obviously my reviews editor "forgot" to tell me Aniston was in it when asking if it was "my kind of thing": he will pay. He has incidentally just identified Sarah's film as Citizen Kane, so is plainly out for a clout.

mark s, Monday, 1 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I wrote "The Langoliers"

Mike Hanle y, Monday, 1 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

The reason you probably forgot about the rest of the movie as it was on TV in two parts. First part ended with that freaky child who I dont think was ever fully explained. Stupid, stupid ending.

Mr Noodles, Tuesday, 2 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Rock Star = Boogie Nights with metal instead of porn, Jennifer Aniston for Heather Graham, Timothy Spall for Burt Reynolds. Yet it is not as good!!??¡¡¿¿

mark s, Tuesday, 2 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

seven months pass...
Mr Noodles, what happened??? PLEASE!! This is driving me mental!! I've now added it to my Amazon wishlist but I AM SURE it is not worth 5.99. I am sure it is not worth 20p but I MUST SEE THE ENDING!!

Sarah, Thursday, 30 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Also ha ha it has Dean Stockwell!!

Sarah, Thursday, 30 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Oi! Noodles!

Sarah, Thursday, 30 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

nineteen years pass...

I want to find the answer to this:

One day I will find that short Channel 4 film where an angel gets trapped in a church and keeps flying against the stonework "confinement being unknown to them". I did not imagine it because I watched it on video over and over, but I lost it and don't know anyone else who saw it.
