― Chris P (Chris P), Saturday, 18 October 2003 04:10 (twenty-two years ago)

My friends all went out to a party tonight so I'm here listening to matt pond and Syd Barrett and T Rex and eating the all-dressed chips and drinking Coke and AIM chatting. I know how to live!

― Bryan (Bryan), Saturday, 18 October 2003 04:23 (twenty-two years ago)

yes you do!

― The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Saturday, 18 October 2003 04:24 (twenty-two years ago)

i have recently discovered the joys of time-warner cable's hbo/cinemax/tmc on demand feature. what with that and the dsl, my social life is pretty much over.

― lauren (laurenp), Saturday, 18 October 2003 04:30 (twenty-two years ago)

i might watch the music channel later

― The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Saturday, 18 October 2003 04:32 (twenty-two years ago)

― Kingfish (Kingfish), Saturday, 18 October 2003 04:36 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm going out! But then I never do anymore, so it holds out the hope of some diversion. Di you have cool 45s. I wish I had that Exile one myself! Do you have any Sparks?

― Sean (Sean), Saturday, 18 October 2003 04:37 (twenty-two years ago)

sleater-kinney - get up
steve perry - oh sherrie

― The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Saturday, 18 October 2003 04:43 (twenty-two years ago)

Hey Lady Ms. Lurex! I did go out tonight, and on the jukebox played T.Rex's "Ride a White Swan" in your honor! And shortly afterwards started chatting with a guy who seemed besotted with me!

― j.lu (j.lu), Saturday, 18 October 2003 05:00 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm old before my time.

Is that statement relevant to this thread?

― adaml (adaml), Saturday, 18 October 2003 05:03 (twenty-two years ago)

― oops (Oops), Saturday, 18 October 2003 05:03 (twenty-two years ago)

― The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Saturday, 18 October 2003 05:05 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm no longer wearing pants.

This statement is relevant to this thread.

― Kingfish (Kingfish), Saturday, 18 October 2003 05:06 (twenty-two years ago)

― Sterling Clover (s_clover), Saturday, 18 October 2003 05:07 (twenty-two years ago)

THE NIGHT WAS HEAVY AND THE AIR WAS ALIVE, BUT SHE COULDN'T FIND HOW TO PUSH THROUGH!!

― The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Saturday, 18 October 2003 05:09 (twenty-two years ago)

Tonight I watched Raising Victor Vargas and used our new foot spa. I think it's time for a good book, but I better put the heating on first.

― adaml (adaml), Saturday, 18 October 2003 05:16 (twenty-two years ago)

― adaml (adaml), Saturday, 18 October 2003 06:04 (twenty-two years ago)

:-D feel the four tops/oakey & moroder LOVE!!! wish i had some other 45s by them, namely "baby i need your loving" and "i can't help myself". levi stubbs is the grebtest male vocalist ever!

― The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Saturday, 18 October 2003 06:10 (twenty-two years ago)

You OTM.

― adaml (adaml), Saturday, 18 October 2003 06:11 (twenty-two years ago)

It is 2:27 in the morning.

My mother has just come home from visiting with her favorite cousin.

I have been, up until now, waiting up for her, while still dressed in the same clothing I'd worn all day today.

I have just taken off my shoes and jewelry and changed into a light nightgown.

I feel like the mother of a teenager.

But I've listened to music, too.

"Sierra Leone" = one of the best songs of the '80s, bar none.

Now I think I'll be getting to bed.

― Many Coloured Halo (Dee the Lurker), Saturday, 18 October 2003 06:31 (twenty-two years ago)

Di, I wish I were partying with you.

Instead, I am still awake, despite trying to go to sleep hours ago. Despite having to get up in a few hours to work. Bleh. Ah well.

I! I live among the creatures of the night!

― Chris P (Chris P), Saturday, 18 October 2003 06:40 (twenty-two years ago)

dee every time you rave about sierra leone i feel like doing backflips. however i am not an acrobat. did you know its rainy's favourite song of the 80s, too? and you know i'll come running to you, if you want me if you want me to. if you want me, i'll come running, come running, come running to you.

― The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Saturday, 18 October 2003 06:44 (twenty-two years ago)

chris i am going to search out my other ms branigan singles right this instant. i hope you can get to sleep, have you tried wanking? you don't have to answer that if you don't want to.

― The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Saturday, 18 October 2003 06:47 (twenty-two years ago)

I quit my second job tonight. I might be having more nights like this in the very near future.

(althougth the going out wasting money never has anything to do with getting laid. . . just letting off steam/relaxing.)

― A Girl Named Sam (thatgirl), Saturday, 18 October 2003 06:49 (twenty-two years ago)

"i hope you can get to sleep, have you tried wanking?"

This is hilarious to me when read as two separate thoughts, arbitrarily joined by a comma.

― rob geary (rgeary), Saturday, 18 October 2003 06:50 (twenty-two years ago)

laura branigan - solitaire

― The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Saturday, 18 October 2003 06:53 (twenty-two years ago)

di's house is the place to be, that's for sure

― the surface noise (electricsound), Saturday, 18 October 2003 06:54 (twenty-two years ago)

i have some laura branigan 45s here, maybe i should plug my stereo's speakers in

― the surface noise (electricsound), Saturday, 18 October 2003 06:54 (twenty-two years ago)

i haven't even played "summer of 69" yet!! (xpost)

― The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Saturday, 18 October 2003 06:56 (twenty-two years ago)

Laura Branigan's "Glora" is the clearest example of the 80s belief that you could rock out by turning the synthesizers up to 11. (Also about some of the psychoanalysis-heavy lyric trends in the mid-80s...)

― Chris P (Chris P), Saturday, 18 October 2003 07:00 (twenty-two years ago)

GET TO BED CHRIS! GET TO BED ME!

― Bryan (Bryan), Saturday, 18 October 2003 07:03 (twenty-two years ago)

Bryan, I didn't know you cared!

― Chris P (Chris P), Saturday, 18 October 2003 07:05 (twenty-two years ago)

Of course I do, I think!

― Bryan (Bryan), Saturday, 18 October 2003 07:06 (twenty-two years ago)

(Anyway technically I'm in bed and have been so for hours. Fat lot of good it's done me.)

(My problem is that I went back to working on the stuff I need to present tomorrow, which got my brain going again, which led to me thinking about other things, and now I'm all not ready to sleep. Despite being tired. Also the sooner I sleep the sooner I wake up and have to go to work. Bleh!)

― Chris P (Chris P), Saturday, 18 October 2003 07:06 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh, at this point it would be too taxing to explain my so-called joke.

I haven't got the will to try and fight!

― Chris P (Chris P), Saturday, 18 October 2003 07:08 (twenty-two years ago)

Welcome to my world. Why did I take another job that requires I be at work by 8? NO ONE should have to work that early.

― Bryan (Bryan), Saturday, 18 October 2003 07:09 (twenty-two years ago)

the fun never stops here!

the divinyls - pleasure and pain
bobby pickett - monster mash

― geeta (geeta), Saturday, 25 October 2003 08:33 (twenty-two years ago)

I wonder why we can't just have plain icecream - no vanilla, nothing? Is there a reason? And don't say 'yes, it'd be crap'.

― colin s barrow (colin s barrow), Saturday, 25 October 2003 08:35 (twenty-two years ago)

plain vanilla ice cream is good with guinness!

― geeta (geeta), Saturday, 25 October 2003 08:36 (twenty-two years ago)

guiness flavoured ice cream?? just hook it to my vein!!

plain ice cream would just taste like frozen whipped cream, wouldn't it?

― The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Saturday, 25 October 2003 08:38 (twenty-two years ago)

are you Irish by any chance geeta? Di, the idea woould be to add your own fruit topping or whatever you fancied. Guinness, for example.

― colin s barrow (colin s barrow), Saturday, 25 October 2003 08:40 (twenty-two years ago)

or peanut butter and chocolate.

― The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Saturday, 25 October 2003 08:43 (twenty-two years ago)

chocolate ice cream is GREBT with guinness (haha no i'm not irish)

― geeta (geeta), Saturday, 25 October 2003 08:47 (twenty-two years ago)

My 3 yr old 'wrote a letter' today. Sealing the envelope, she told me "It's for a band I love. It says 'I love you, band.'"

― colin s barrow (colin s barrow), Saturday, 25 October 2003 08:53 (twenty-two years ago)

send it to me, i need fan mail

― the surface noise (electricsound), Saturday, 25 October 2003 08:55 (twenty-two years ago)

I think she would like the idea of a band called Tugboat, Jim. She and her neighbour, a 3 year old boy, have been arguing lately about who's got the toughest dad.

Toby: My dad has lots of power tools!

Sarah-Jane: Well, Toby, his tools are all plastic and not very good.

― colin s barrow (colin s barrow), Saturday, 25 October 2003 08:58 (twenty-two years ago)

colin if this is a conspiracy to make me like children, its working. damnit!

― The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Saturday, 25 October 2003 09:01 (twenty-two years ago)

Set 'em up in the studio with a mic, some delay, and a drum machine, Lurex, and watch 'em go!

― colin s barrow (colin s barrow), Saturday, 25 October 2003 09:04 (twenty-two years ago)

― colin s barrow (colin s barrow), Saturday, 25 October 2003 09:06 (twenty-two years ago)

near midnight saturday night, I'm on guestlist at a decent show, but no, I am home. I'm a bit too worn out to have any fun. I used to live for live shows, though, what happened? If I didn't work so early in the morning, would my life be different? Am I afraid to find out? Home is nice, though.

― teeny (teeny), Sunday, 26 October 2003 04:39 (twenty-two years ago)
