Heh heh, you said "eating out." Heh heh, heh...

― Prude (Prude), Sunday, 19 October 2003 18:57 (twenty-two years ago)

anyhow, this can be the thread where you talk about how when people who know you from your work (but DON'T work with you)(customer, whatever) see you outside of work and then approach you and talk to you 'wittily' as if you were at work, like you wanna talk about work when you aren't at fucking work, esp. with someone you don't even fucking work with. eg. say you work at a chickenchopping place and there's a regular who comes in to buy chopped up chickens and then he sees you at the movie theater and walks up to you while you're trying to talk to your girlfriend and sez all slylike: 'hey, who's chopping up the chickens? huh, huh?', like I don't know dude, maybe one of the OTHER fucking chickenchoppers maybe, ya think? get off my jock yo.

DUD

― cinniblount (James Blount), Sunday, 19 October 2003 18:59 (twenty-two years ago)

This is why I don't want to work with people.

― adaml (adaml), Sunday, 19 October 2003 19:00 (twenty-two years ago)

I want to work with robots!

― cinniblount (James Blount), Sunday, 19 October 2003 19:03 (twenty-two years ago)

Robots are people too.

does this actually happen to people? It seems as absurd as if somebody had a friend who actually brought up dandruff all the time and was constantly swiping at your shoulder even if you didn't have any on it. Most of my co-workers tend to be equally glad they're not at work and wouldn't dream of bringing up that you're not there.

― Anthony Miccio (Anthony Miccio), Sunday, 19 October 2003 19:13 (twenty-two years ago)

that said, ads that present (and condone) horrific nightmares of asshole co-workers are indeed dudly.

― Anthony Miccio (Anthony Miccio), Sunday, 19 October 2003 19:13 (twenty-two years ago)

yeah who was jared eating out?

― A Girl Named Sam (thatgirl), Sunday, 19 October 2003 19:16 (twenty-two years ago)

I may try to find work in a chickenchopping place.

― Sean (Sean), Sunday, 19 October 2003 19:17 (twenty-two years ago)

no, not co-workers yall! coworkers don't talk about work outside of work unless they're assholes and then they don't approach you at movie theaters cuz they already figured out from work you don't like them cuz you told them 'fuck off asshole'. I'm talking about people who don't work with you but who's entire 'relationship' with you is based on where you work/what you do, and when they see you outside of work they relate to you on that basis, wisenheimerly.

― cinniblount (James Blount), Sunday, 19 October 2003 19:25 (twenty-two years ago)

Blount you need to quit that fastfood job :)

Someday Jared will snap and eat Ben and Jerry's till he explodes..

― brg30 (brg30), Sunday, 19 October 2003 19:27 (twenty-two years ago)

jared was eating out tracey gold.

― cinniblount (James Blount), Sunday, 19 October 2003 19:27 (twenty-two years ago)

I wish I had a fastfood job - free subway!

― cinniblount (James Blount), Sunday, 19 October 2003 19:27 (twenty-two years ago)

blount, are you an exotic dancer?

― A Girl Named Sam (thatgirl), Sunday, 19 October 2003 19:28 (twenty-two years ago)

Sorry, blount. Missed your point. Yeah, if somebody asked me "hey who's working at the library?" (which thankfully hasn't happened) I'd totally be all "get off my dick. don't JIVE me, turkey!" (you've got to SASS it)

― Anthony Miccio (Anthony Miccio), Sunday, 19 October 2003 19:31 (twenty-two years ago)

i think i wrote about how in chicago i'd get my coffee from this one place every morning and it was like my lifeblood and if i was running late the woman who was the same every morning would notice and mention it to me and it was weird coz i'd see her in my neighborhood and i'd wave hi or something just coz. i totally depended on her for my ability to wake up.

― Sterling Clover (s_clover), Sunday, 19 October 2003 19:36 (twenty-two years ago)

i don't imagine videostore clerks get this so much (maybe it's the same with librarians) - i'm always afraid they're going to accost ME on the street and be like "hey who's renting KATE AND LEOPOLD!!?"

― jones (actual), Sunday, 19 October 2003 19:37 (twenty-two years ago)

Since I've started working out at the circulation desk I get alot more people I don't know comming up to me and starting conversations as if I remeber everyone who takes out "The Da Vinci Code"

― brg30 (brg30), Sunday, 19 October 2003 19:56 (twenty-two years ago)

i'm sorry, but renting "Kate & Leopold" deserves all the scorn that can be mustered.

― Kingfish (Kingfish), Sunday, 19 October 2003 19:57 (twenty-two years ago)

And to the cute woman who borrowed "Soft Bomb" and "The Prisoner Volume 3" - I love you!! Will you marry me?

― brg30 (brg30), Sunday, 19 October 2003 19:59 (twenty-two years ago)

I like how somebody called Prude immediately picked up on the sex reference.

― oops (Oops), Sunday, 19 October 2003 20:00 (twenty-two years ago)

hi, my entire career to thread. Actually this is great like 95% of the time because people who listen to my radio show seem to generally be really cool folks and it's really fun to make a more personal connection. Once in a while though I'm in an awful mood and really just want to have a nice dinner out with my boyfriend and someone will come up to the table and be a real asshole about hey why don't you play any Gentle Giant? Okay that's an extreme (although true) example but it really is dudder than dud when someone walks right up to you and tells you loudly that you're really shitty at your job.

― teeny (teeny), Sunday, 19 October 2003 21:13 (twenty-two years ago)

knife them in the throat.

― Kingfish (Kingfish), Sunday, 19 October 2003 21:26 (twenty-two years ago)

Teeny, how famous are you exactly? (not a facetious question - it's an interesting subject)

― Mark C (Mark C), Monday, 20 October 2003 12:10 (twenty-two years ago)

There was an article about Jared in the Washington Post Magazine a week or so ago, it was kind of sad. He is contractually not allowed to eat in any fast food restaurant other than Subway. He also automatically loses his job if he goes above a certain weight.

― NA (Nick A.), Monday, 20 October 2003 12:11 (twenty-two years ago)

Yeah, he's probably got an eating disorder on the side. Plus, how could anyone NOT get sick eating the same f-ing food every single day? BLECH!

― Sarah McLUsky (coco), Monday, 20 October 2003 12:25 (twenty-two years ago)

dude probably binges on mcdonald's fries on the sly. after sending out a subordinate to the local franchise, Jared locks himself in the hall closet, weeping silently to himself as he stuffs fistful after fistful of fries into his gaping, his tears giving a bittersweet flavor to the potatoes.

― Kingfish (Kingfish), Monday, 20 October 2003 12:35 (twenty-two years ago)

Well, based on this article, he doesn't really eat that healthfully anymore. He was like eating a Bloomin' Onion and steak and stuff. He says his new diet plan is just to always leave some food on his plate.

― NA (Nick A.), Monday, 20 October 2003 12:37 (twenty-two years ago)

haha mark, not very famous due to being on the radio, so one would really have had to have met me before to recognize me. Sometimes I think it's just being in the same town of 80,000 for ten years more than being on the radio. I do the morning show on a pretty well-rated station, regularly introduce bands and things like that. I probably only get approached about a quarter of the time that I go out. And then I'm defining 'aproached' generously, most of the time I'm introduced to someone and they already know me from the radio.

― teeny (teeny), Monday, 20 October 2003 12:40 (twenty-two years ago)

Sounds like just famous enough to me. The nearest I've come is DJing at the various club nights I've run/helped out at. It tends to be enormous men with bad beards telling me how coked up they are, though.

― Mark C (Mark C), Monday, 20 October 2003 12:48 (twenty-two years ago)

one day, teeny & jared shall meet, and the world shall end.

― Kingfish (Kingfish), Monday, 20 October 2003 13:04 (twenty-two years ago)

I do love me that subway, but skinny boys just don't do it for me.

― teeny (teeny), Monday, 20 October 2003 13:25 (twenty-two years ago)
