And they are the parents of Matthew Kneale, who wrote 'English Passengers', an epic, prizewinning novel about colonialism in Van Diemans Land. Judith also wrote an autobiographical trilogy about her family's flight from Nazi Germany in the mid-late thirties, which is brilliant.

NK's The Stone Tapes was on BBC4 last night (and, by some curious quirk of Freeview broadcasting, simultaneously on CBeebies). Something about the acting put me right off.
