Ok, I may be paranoid, but I think it's justified. If there is a war, and we all have to flee, where would be the best place to flee to? Money being not too much of an object. Outer space not permitted/ feasible. I am considering South America.

wyoming

Samantha, Monday, 1 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I believe that New Zealand is recognised as the safest place due to not being in line of prevailing winds etc, also largely innoffensive to superpowers.

chris, Monday, 1 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

also only nation in the world that is self sufficient in food.

Ed, Monday, 1 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

by that I mean in a balenced way as obviously many nations have surplusses in some areas.

Ed, Monday, 1 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

NZ is a lurvly thought, but as I understand it they already have some strict rules on immigration, probably because of worries like this. ;-)

Ned Raggett, Monday, 1 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I'm eligible for dual citizenship in Ireland, and, given the most recent news reports (chemical terrorist attack against Sears Tower foiled), I'm thinking of taking them up on the offer.

Kerry, Monday, 1 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I'll stay here and fight a gureilla war down my local park.

jel, Monday, 1 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Richard Tunnicliffe, Monday, 1 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I don't think I've seen that one Richard. But, just looked it up and it looks quite cool. Patrick Swayze is in it!

jel, Monday, 1 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

The cupboard under the stairs. If I can't see them they can't see me.

emil.y, Monday, 1 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Gawd Lixi, war fear is so last week. Dark Strangelovian cynicism is where it's at!

But I think campuses in Minnesota should be safe.

Tom, Monday, 1 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

A mountain cave in Afghanistan, by all accounts.

DavidM, Monday, 1 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Pallet Town!

jel, Monday, 1 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

New Brunswick and Newfieland are pretty much out of the way. I'd say Iceland is looking pretty good too.

Mr Noodles, Monday, 1 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Inner space.

Mitch Lastnamewithheld, Monday, 1 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Antarctica .

kevin enas, Monday, 1 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

New Zealand is recognised as the safest place due to not being in line of prevailing winds etc, also largely innoffensive to superpowers.

You've apparently missed the big groundswell of anti-New Zealand sentiment burgeoning in North America right now. There are construction workers walking around with t-shirts that say things like "I walk a thousand miles to smoke a dirty sheep-fucking Kiwi."

Nitsuh, Monday, 1 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I suggest hiding in the statue of liberty. Shes strong!

Mike Hanle y, Monday, 1 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

the "hidden place".

Honda, Tuesday, 2 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I'm going to watch red dawn (again) tonight, my flatmate actually bought an ex-rental copy.

Then I'm going to jump on the bandwagon and invade New Zealand using Cuban paratroopers.

chris, Tuesday, 2 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

ok, NZ it is. i won't even have to learn the language. now i just need a passport. of course, nuclear devices would fuck us all up anyway. i think war should be fought using paper aeroplanes and catapults full of maggots. no, sorry, that's not right. i wish they'd turn the heating down in here.

alix, Tuesday, 2 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

You could also try Fiji. Lots smaller than NZ and even more remote.

jel, Tuesday, 2 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Zabar's. They have NZ cheddar.
I'm not fleeing the NY area, tough titties to the Taliban, let 'em come get me.

Lesley Higgins, Tuesday, 2 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

alix - nz has a language all of its own, so get yr pocket book of lingos ready.

Geoff, Tuesday, 2 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

And stock up on your Tall Dwarfs records, too. Never a bad thing in any case.

Brian MacDonald, Tuesday, 2 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Find a Fold on Oprah's arse

Mike Hanle y, Wednesday, 3 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I'd rather dig a hole and make an underground city.
