so the cbc has announced it will revive these venerable tv vignettes, thanks in part to a bequest from a fellow who willed his entire estate to the Canadian Wildlife Fund.

the new versions - available here tho they won't play for me - will be shown in "classic" and "youth" formats (featuring a "modernized soundtrack" thanks to the cbc's eternal focus-group wisdom: "When we focus-tested the originals with some high school students, they rolled their eyes. They were like, `Oh my God, this is so boring,'" - CWF's Danielle St-Aubin in the Toronto Star)

(the mention on last night's National featured the same sort of chuckling "oh we were so corny back then" chagrin - compared to NOW?? this corporation is demented)

(c or d: i say classic obviously)

"When attacked, the adult muskox, standing shoulder to shoulder, form a defensive ring. This maneuver was designed for their principal enemy the wolf and proved useless against men armed with rifles" :(

YAY THE MUSKOX!!!

THE PEREGRINE FALCON HAS EYES LARGER THAN A MAN'S!! between this and the recent news that the universe might be finite and shaped like a dodecahedron, i don't understand how traffic doesn't just come to a lurching halt worldwide.

two weeks pass...

I have a bunch of Hinterland Who's Who information leaflets that my cousins sent away for in the 70's. bless the Canadian Wildlife Service and their tireless quest for public education.

I don't really like the CBC Country Canada commercial, where they make fun of them.
