I often catch myself wondering who first invented stairs and doors, and whether people had trouble using them.

And you?

adaml (adaml), Tuesday, 21 October 2003 18:38 (twenty-two years ago)

Thomas Jefferson invented walls and doors. I thought everyone knew that.

greybeard, Tuesday, 21 October 2003 18:40 (twenty-two years ago)

as well as the airplane? wow!

stevem (blueski), Tuesday, 21 October 2003 18:53 (twenty-two years ago)

"Wow that guy walks his dog like seven times a day. I wonder if he ever sleeps. Shit, I bet he doesn't even have a home, he just wanders around in a 1 mile radius all hours of the day, walking that poor dog that's gotta be tired by now. Holy cow, I think he was wearing that same get-up yesterday."

etc.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Tuesday, 21 October 2003 19:01 (twenty-two years ago)

I have no idea why there is a question mark at the end of this thread title! I need coffee...

adaml (adaml), Tuesday, 21 October 2003 20:07 (twenty-two years ago)

"Hooray! Now it is Zoidberg who the world must listen to!"

Kingfish (Kingfish), Wednesday, 22 October 2003 12:59 (twenty-two years ago)

This is the perfect thread for me, but don't worry, I won't post to it too much.
There's a weird reaction that happens between my bare feet and my tile floor when I'm sitting at my computer at home. The floor feels like it's really hot but when I go to touch it with my hand it's cold and so are my feet. That sure is mysterious.

Bryan (Bryan), Wednesday, 22 October 2003 13:06 (twenty-two years ago)

Malaria of the foot?

nickalicious (nickalicious), Wednesday, 22 October 2003 13:17 (twenty-two years ago)

I've been brainwashed by cassette etiquette that suggests that leaving a tape on pause for longer than a few seconds stretches the tape and now I find myself getting squeamish about pausing tracks in iTunes. You can't 'stop' the thing unless you close it completely. Your options are play or pause. Either play, or pause. My banal thought: When did pause suddenly equal stop?

stale oatmeal has the consistency of drying wallpaper paste.

Lord Custos Omicron (Lord Custos Omicron), Wednesday, 22 October 2003 14:44 (twenty-two years ago)

Today, I was buying groceries and I noticed that I kept selecting the same products as this old woman in a wheelchair ahead of me- we actually had almost identical carts! So I was wondering if it's a bad thing that I eat like an elderly woman, or whether food isn't as much of a generational thing as it might seem.

adaml (adaml), Thursday, 23 October 2003 05:15 (twenty-two years ago)

But these Kashi Puffin cereal things are great!

adaml (adaml), Thursday, 23 October 2003 05:15 (twenty-two years ago)

Haha, this is what I ate for breakfast this morning (and likely tomorrow): http://64.95.118.51/images/opti/58/51/wellNutritionDiet_FoodsAllKashi_Good_Friends-resized200.gif

jaymc (jaymc), Thursday, 23 October 2003 05:21 (twenty-two years ago)

Regarding the Public Enemy track 'She Watch Channel Zero', I often think how silly it is of Chuck D to berate his girlfriend for watching a soap opera instead of the game. I mean, American Football... Baseball... are you kidding Chuck?

freedom dupont, Thursday, 23 October 2003 07:11 (twenty-two years ago)

Why do Americans say "England" when they mean "Britain" and "British" when they mean "English"?

fcussen (Burger), Thursday, 23 October 2003 07:40 (twenty-two years ago)

Because they're american?!

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Thursday, 23 October 2003 07:41 (twenty-two years ago)

if you're pen stops working and you take it to Lourdes, does it start to work again?

MarkH (MarkH), Thursday, 23 October 2003 08:14 (twenty-two years ago)

God is displeased with you MarkH.

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Thursday, 23 October 2003 08:20 (twenty-two years ago)

Why isn't "Oh oh I Love Her So" on the Ramones Anthology?

jel -- (jel), Thursday, 23 October 2003 08:22 (twenty-two years ago)

If I leave for uni now, I could do some reading for an hour or so. I think I'll leave in half an hour.

jel -- (jel), Thursday, 23 October 2003 08:23 (twenty-two years ago)

I should have put this jumper in for washing. Maybe I should buy another one, and some new jeans too. I think I'll get some new cords, are cords still in fashion?

jel -- (jel), Thursday, 23 October 2003 08:24 (twenty-two years ago)

I think I'll have weetabix for breakfast.

jel -- (jel), Thursday, 23 October 2003 08:25 (twenty-two years ago)

I won't take my bank card with me today, that way I won't buy a load of CD's at lunch time.

jel -- (jel), Thursday, 23 October 2003 08:31 (twenty-two years ago)

no one cares

jel -- (jel), Thursday, 23 October 2003 15:40 (twenty-two years ago)

i'll put the cd over here so the piles are even

dyson (dyson), Thursday, 23 October 2003 16:00 (twenty-two years ago)

I care, Jel. :-)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 23 October 2003 16:02 (twenty-two years ago)

bless you Ned! :)

jel -- (jel), Thursday, 23 October 2003 16:04 (twenty-two years ago)

Why ISN'T Oh Oh I Love Her So on The Ramones Anthology.

I just can't get these glasses clean no matter what I do.

adaml (adaml), Thursday, 23 October 2003 16:29 (twenty-two years ago)

Right, time to do some serious work.

adaml (adaml), Thursday, 23 October 2003 16:29 (twenty-two years ago)

But maybe a hot chocolate first...

adaml (adaml), Thursday, 23 October 2003 16:29 (twenty-two years ago)

yeah, real work! wtf?

jel -- (jel), Thursday, 23 October 2003 16:32 (twenty-two years ago)

When I was out running errands earlier, I was, as per usual, making a mental (ha ha mental)To Do list in my head. One thing I wanted to remember to do this afternon was balance my checkbook, but for some reason I thought, "I need to destroy my checkbook." ha ha

Sarah McLUsky (coco), Thursday, 23 October 2003 16:41 (twenty-two years ago)

This morning I was thinking about that old maxim about how one shouldn't speak of religion, politics, and sex among polite company. And how religion and politics are probably not best discussed because people's attitudes on these subjects tend to be fairly intractible and thus tempers are flared, etc. But this can't be the justification for not talking about sex. (Nobody knocks over banquet tables, shouting "Missionary style is for ignorant fools!") So is it just that it makes certain people uncomfortable?

jaymc (jaymc), Thursday, 23 October 2003 16:52 (twenty-two years ago)

"Don't you see how your reverse cowgirl style is tearing this nation apart? SUPPORT THE TROOPS!"

nickalicious (nickalicious), Thursday, 23 October 2003 17:24 (twenty-two years ago)

I had a thought so banal, that I've forgotten it. It was a good one for this thread, I wish I could remember it.

jel -- (jel), Thursday, 23 October 2003 17:35 (twenty-two years ago)

I wonder if the relative tightness or lack thereof has any impact on how big my ass looks in these pants. Hmmmmm...

Kashi is good, it's almost like you're eating nothing, so you don't feel like a pig, yet somehow it tastes pleasant anyway.

Blood and sparkles (bloodandsparkles), Thursday, 23 October 2003 17:41 (twenty-two years ago)

oh poo, the cd stacks are uneven again
