Where are good places in london to buy second hand gear, synths, drum machines etc? Does M&VE have a shop for this kind of stuff? Is there anywhere else?

Yeah, the M&VE musical equipment shop is on Notting Hill Gate. I've found some amazing deals there, but like anything else, Caveat Emptor.

Denmark Street 2nd hand gear is overpriced and not worth it, except you can find the occasional deal in Andy's (they will bargain if you push them.)

Which shops on Denmark ST sell second hand? I thought it was mostly new stuff.

Andy's, for one. Also, up and down Charing Cross Rd, there are a couple of places that do second hand stuff - there's one that always has drum machines and things in the window, though it's name escapes me. Quite pricey, though. Cheaper than new, but certainly not a bargain hunter's dream.

Thanks. Also, d'you happen to know the address of the MVE one (I can't find it in the phone book)?

This isn't for me, it's for a friend from abroad who's staying with me. As usual, when I'm asked to help someone with my local knowledge I am stupidly stumped.

On the MVE website, it says the music equipment shop is now closed.

It's on the same strip as all the other MVE shops - sorry, I don't know the exact address. It also does cameras and electrical equipment, so it might be listed under that?

Naw, it looks like the shop's shut down. There's always Loot.

I think I'll just use this as my What to See/Do in London thread if I ever plan a trip there.

You're welcome.
