When you have been laid off , to hire a new person for the same title position whether or not it's in a different department ?
I currently was laid off ( I am an Administrative Assistant ) i worked in the accounting department. However there is an open position in the Human Resources Dept for an Administrative Position. Is it league to hire someone from the outside or do they have to first choose fron the Laid off bunch of Admin Asst?

Nicole, If you have actually been laid off, rather than your post being made redundant but them still employing you, then all you can do is apply for the post. If they liked you, then you'll stand a good chance.
