Jack Elam, Cockeyed Cowboy Character, 1919-2003

He was great character actor, villain, and comedian. Many, many, many classic westerns have him in there in some form. I liked him in "Once Upon a Time in the West", among others.

Johnny Carson once described him as "the man who aligned the headlights" in a bit.

Not to mention how he was immortalized in a skit on MST3K from the classic "Girl in Lover's Lane": "Pervert-Burger! JACK ELAM!"

Indeed -- and let us not forget what for many of us was the first role we saw him in, perhaps his greatest triumph, in The Cannonball Run.
