PAIN : The thread in which we talk about bit of us which are hurting

I've been suffering terrible pain in my right heel for the past week, and it hurts so badly I can hardly put any weight on it at times. I can't see any bruise on it, and I don't remember having fallen over or kicked anyone, so it's a bit baffling why it should be so painful. I'm taking two Paracetamol tablets three times a day, which just about lets me get through the day, but I don't think frequent painkillers are a very good idea and I'm worried about taking them :( Hopefully it'll get better before long.

What bits of you are hurting right now? And what are you doing by way of treatment?

C J (C J), Thursday, 23 October 2003 16:14 (twenty-two years ago)

my fucking head. nnngg.

Pashmina (Pashmina), Thursday, 23 October 2003 16:16 (twenty-two years ago)

not my lungs.
3 days and counting!

Horace Mann (Horace Mann), Thursday, 23 October 2003 16:17 (twenty-two years ago)

I am in constant low-grade pain, especially in my upper back. I should go back to taking Advil every day, that seemed to help.

(xpost: rah H!)

Casuistry (Chris P), Thursday, 23 October 2003 16:17 (twenty-two years ago)

my jaw hurts though from the constant mashing of gum.

Horace Mann (Horace Mann), Thursday, 23 October 2003 16:17 (twenty-two years ago)

I mean, I have other recommendations for dealing with your oral fixation, but you probably wouldn't be into them.

Casuistry (Chris P), Thursday, 23 October 2003 16:19 (twenty-two years ago)

Depends on the person, surely.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 23 October 2003 16:21 (twenty-two years ago)

I am also in constant low-grade pain, mostly in my knees and feet. They crack a lot so I'm worried that they may be arthritic. I try not to take too much pain medication. I was worried for a while there that I may be developing an ulcer but I don't think I am. I'm just thankful that I don't suffer from migraines and I have nothing but sympathy for those who do.

Bryan (Bryan), Thursday, 23 October 2003 16:27 (twenty-two years ago)

I don't think cracking has anything to do with arthritis. Probably your bones are misaligned and bumping your nerves. Go see a chiropractor!

teeny (teeny), Thursday, 23 October 2003 16:29 (twenty-two years ago)

NO WAY MAN!
Cracking is a sign of arthritis. It's called crepitus. I may also have creepitus, an indication that I am a creep.

Bryan (Bryan), Thursday, 23 October 2003 16:32 (twenty-two years ago)

Stomach.

adaml (adaml), Thursday, 23 October 2003 16:33 (twenty-two years ago)

hmmmm...

teeny (teeny), Thursday, 23 October 2003 16:34 (twenty-two years ago)

my hip hurts constantly, but there is nothing i can do about that. also my knees give me regular pain as well. both are caused by playing baseball and hockey since i was 5.

Chris V. (Chris V), Thursday, 23 October 2003 16:35 (twenty-two years ago)

PAIN! WIll you return it? I'll say it again: PAIN!

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Thursday, 23 October 2003 16:35 (twenty-two years ago)

To teeny: HA!!! I have that too! I read what I posted here (point #10).

Bryan (Bryan), Thursday, 23 October 2003 16:36 (twenty-two years ago)

yeah I saw that too but you have to admit mine was funnier.

teeny (teeny), Thursday, 23 October 2003 16:37 (twenty-two years ago)

Very much so!
My teeth ache but that's what I just got my nightguard for (which I can't stand wearing). My teeth are riddled with little cracks from clacking them together in my sleep, plus I have my wisdom teeth in but should probably consider having them extracted.

Bryan (Bryan), Thursday, 23 October 2003 16:40 (twenty-two years ago)

stomach. But I just had some earl grey and it's settling down.

Lord Custos Omicron (Lord Custos Omicron), Thursday, 23 October 2003 16:45 (twenty-two years ago)

I just had a big huge barbecue beef sandwich (I had to use a fork), so now my stomache is just kinda like guh. It doesn't really hurt too much, though.

I can't shake the impression that I should really go see a doctor or a dentist sometime soon, but that's really only because I haven't seen either one in a couple of years.

Tom Breihan (Tom Breihan), Thursday, 23 October 2003 16:46 (twenty-two years ago)

Toothache.

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Thursday, 23 October 2003 17:00 (twenty-two years ago)

Where do I begin? I don't want to even go into it online, but I might be facing some pretty serious health issues.

Nicolars (Nicole), Thursday, 23 October 2003 17:18 (twenty-two years ago)

:(

teeny (teeny), Thursday, 23 October 2003 17:19 (twenty-two years ago)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 23 October 2003 17:23 (twenty-two years ago)

:(:(:(motherfucker!

teeny (teeny), Thursday, 23 October 2003 17:24 (twenty-two years ago)

sorry nicolars, I just can't handle it when ned gets all up in my shit.

teeny (teeny), Thursday, 23 October 2003 17:25 (twenty-two years ago)

I hope your potentially serious problems end up being not-so-serious, Nico. (I also hope you got a big belly laugh from teeny's indignant frownies.)

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Thursday, 23 October 2003 17:28 (twenty-two years ago)

It will probably turn out to be nothing.

Nicolars (Nicole), Thursday, 23 October 2003 17:35 (twenty-two years ago)

sorry nicolars, I just can't handle it when ned gets all up in my shit.

*weeps*

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 23 October 2003 17:36 (twenty-two years ago)

Yes - ditto that from me, too.

C J (C J), Thursday, 23 October 2003 17:42 (twenty-two years ago)

I avoid threads like these so I'm not reminded of my fragile body and all its mysterious ailments. Thanks guys!

jaymc (jaymc), Thursday, 23 October 2003 17:42 (twenty-two years ago)

Nicole: Plenty of OJ and bedrest, and you should be right as rain. Hope you feel better tomorrow.
(*hands Nicole a bottle of virtual aspirin and a comfy virtual pillow*)

Lord Custos Omicron (Lord Custos Omicron), Thursday, 23 October 2003 17:44 (twenty-two years ago)

Me too, Nicole. Probably will turn out to be nothing--I think the worrying makes you worse though.

Allyzay, Thursday, 23 October 2003 18:14 (twenty-two years ago)

My joints crack all the time, and I don't think I have/am developing arthritis.

I have had headaches every day for the past several weeks, excepting two blissfully headache-free days. That's the biggest thing. Fucking enough already.

Nicole, hope your health woes end up clearing up/being nothing.

JuliaA (j_bdules), Thursday, 23 October 2003 18:21 (twenty-two years ago)

heart.

Haikunym (Haikunym), Thursday, 23 October 2003 18:31 (twenty-two years ago)

fuck carpal tunnel syndrome in the carpal tunnel

nickalicious (nickalicious), Thursday, 23 October 2003 18:40 (twenty-two years ago)

My left wrist has been hurting on and off for about six months. When I bend it over it has a funny dent in it. And it clicks when I roll it around or if I squeeze my fingers round it. It'll get better for a couple of weeks, then I'll push a door open and it'll go again.

Also, I ate a really dodgy sausage supper in East Kilbride on Sunday night and my appetite has yet to return. I'm not sure if I should be pleased about the great potential for weight loss or concerned that I'm not eating a lot. Who am I kidding, I'm losing weight! This is great!

Madchen (Madchen), Thursday, 23 October 2003 18:52 (twenty-two years ago)

ditto Haikunym. My heart is aching.

My rememdy thus far has been hugging any kiddo who lets me hug them, calling them all sweetheart and meaning it, and tonight, calling my bartender sweetheart every time she sets another in front of me.

A Girl Named Sam (thatgirl), Thursday, 23 October 2003 20:18 (twenty-two years ago)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 23 October 2003 20:31 (twenty-two years ago)

i've taken the drastic step of quitting smoking (48 hours so far).
Here's hoping you make it to 48 days. After that, I'm sure you could quit for good.

amateurist (amateurist), Thursday, 23 October 2003 21:11 (twenty-two years ago)

I said 'heart' before,
but I didn't mean it then.
I kind of do, now.

Haikunym (Haikunym), Friday, 24 October 2003 14:38 (twenty-two years ago)

:/ were you sad before but now have chest pains or vice versa?

(i meant horribly sad earlier. Now I'm just sad. but I also have heartburn.)

Haikunym (Haikunym), Friday, 24 October 2003 14:55 (twenty-two years ago)

Hey, stop flogging me!

Meanwhile, I half-tripped over the dog AGAIN this morning and wrenched my knee slightly. I hobble.

luna (luna.c), Friday, 24 October 2003 14:57 (twenty-two years ago)

Is it medical,
this 'heart pain' of which you speak?
Or is it 'sadness'?

Either way, I hope
that the pain goes away soon
and things get better

You do know, don't you,
that people here on the board
care about you lots?

Internet friendship

adam. (nordicskilla), Wednesday, 13 October 2004 16:31 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm recovering from $10,000 of gynecological surgery! Such fun!

quincie, Wednesday, 13 October 2004 16:36 (twenty-one years ago)

Eurgh. Hope all's well now, at least.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 13 October 2004 16:36 (twenty-one years ago)

Velveteen Bingo (Chris V), Wednesday, 13 October 2004 16:37 (twenty-one years ago)

Tendonitis in my shoulder.
My knees
I'm in bits.

Penelope_111 (Penelope_111), Wednesday, 13 October 2004 16:37 (twenty-one years ago)

Thanks, Ned. It all went fine and really wasn't all so bad. I'm just irritable because although I was prepared for the PAIN, I wasn't prepared for the post-pain ITCH! The ITCH that demands SOCIALLY UNACCEPTABLE SCRATCHING!

I do feel badly for all those with joint pain. That's the worst, I think.

quincie, Wednesday, 13 October 2004 16:40 (twenty-one years ago)

My little finger. I cut it this morning and it stings : (

Cathy (Cathy), Wednesday, 13 October 2004 16:44 (twenty-one years ago)

Markelby (Mark C), Wednesday, 13 October 2004 16:46 (twenty-one years ago)

Velveteen Bingo (Chris V), Wednesday, 13 October 2004 16:48 (twenty-one years ago)

Markelby (Mark C), Wednesday, 13 October 2004 16:50 (twenty-one years ago)
