It's almost the weekend- do you have anything planned?

adaml (adaml), Thursday, 23 October 2003 17:11 (twenty-two years ago)

I was thinking I'd have me some fun.

teeny (teeny), Thursday, 23 October 2003 17:20 (twenty-two years ago)

oh fuck I seriously just typed that without getting the thread title, I'm such an idiot!!

teeny (teeny), Thursday, 23 October 2003 17:21 (twenty-two years ago)

uh, I don't get it.

Horace Mann (Horace Mann), Thursday, 23 October 2003 17:35 (twenty-two years ago)

Me neither.

Casuistry (Chris P), Thursday, 23 October 2003 17:38 (twenty-two years ago)

Is this another R Kelly reference? Can't you let the man piss on underaged girls in peace?

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Thursday, 23 October 2003 17:39 (twenty-two years ago)

It was an honest question! What HAVE you got planned for the weekend? Must everything have a sexual double meaning for you people?

adaml (adaml), Thursday, 23 October 2003 17:40 (twenty-two years ago)

Don't answer that.

adaml (adaml), Thursday, 23 October 2003 17:40 (twenty-two years ago)

PERVERT

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Thursday, 23 October 2003 17:40 (twenty-two years ago)

Although teeny's answer is kinda funny.

adaml (adaml), Thursday, 23 October 2003 17:41 (twenty-two years ago)

Yeah but why did you call it "Toot Toot!"?

Casuistry (Chris P), Thursday, 23 October 2003 17:42 (twenty-two years ago)

Is there something you're trying to tell us?

Casuistry (Chris P), Thursday, 23 October 2003 17:42 (twenty-two years ago)

NO

*weeps*

This thread is like arguing with a Jewish grandmother.

adaml (adaml), Thursday, 23 October 2003 17:44 (twenty-two years ago)

I must have just had that song in my head or something.

adaml (adaml), Thursday, 23 October 2003 17:45 (twenty-two years ago)

maybe we should be asking Teeny what it was that she got?

Horace Mann (Horace Mann), Thursday, 23 October 2003 17:45 (twenty-two years ago)

Wait, what is this "Toot Toot!" song?

Casuistry (Chris P), Thursday, 23 October 2003 17:47 (twenty-two years ago)

"Ignition" remix.

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Thursday, 23 October 2003 17:48 (twenty-two years ago)

hahaha best thread ever!

teeny (teeny), Thursday, 23 October 2003 17:48 (twenty-two years ago)

me, i'll be working on my history of art project for monday, learning for my english exam on wednesday, attempting to make the g4s at university to work so i can show something at my final art prac crit next tuesday and generally falling to pieces.

mitch lastnamewithheld (mitchlnw), Thursday, 23 October 2003 17:49 (twenty-two years ago)

OK, let's try again. Keeping in mind that I don't listen to the radio or watch tv or follow pop music very closely, what is this "Toot Toot!" deal? Or "Ignition" for that matter.

Casuistry (Chris P), Thursday, 23 October 2003 17:50 (twenty-two years ago)

er, I'm not quite sure what I'm doing. Mostly. Always.

jel -- (jel), Thursday, 23 October 2003 17:50 (twenty-two years ago)

i will probably be drunk for the next 48 hours, seeing as how i possess neither common sense nor any self-control, and i have a lot friends in town who want to enjoy the nightlife. in between drinks, i have some shows to go to:
friday - the rapture and whatever i can catch of the gsl showcase, then dance party time.
saturday - michael yonkers band, and a late show some friends are doing at the knitting factory. i am trying to drag hstencil with me to the yonkers thing, or at least force him to out with me while i kill time between shows.

lauren (laurenp), Thursday, 23 October 2003 17:50 (twenty-two years ago)

Ignition (Remix) Lyrics

R. Kelly

Now, usualy i dont do this but uh... give em a lil preview of the remix

no im not tryin to be rude,
but hey pretty girl im feelin you
the way you do the things you do
remind me of my Lexus coup
thats why im all up in yo grill
tryina get you to a hotel
you must be a foot ball coach
the way you got me playin the field

now gimme that toot toot
and i'll give you that beep beep
runnin her hands through my 'fro
bouncin on 24's
while they say on the radio...

[chorus]
this is the remix to ignition
hot and fresh out the kitchen
mama rollin that body
got evey man in her wishin
sippin on coke and rum
im like so what im drunk
its the freakin weekend baby
im about to have me some fun

teeny (teeny), Thursday, 23 October 2003 17:53 (twenty-two years ago)

do you see!!

teeny (teeny), Thursday, 23 October 2003 17:53 (twenty-two years ago)

haha great typo "in her wishin"

teeny (teeny), Thursday, 23 October 2003 17:54 (twenty-two years ago)

It's an example of "the popular music", Chris.

adaml (adaml), Thursday, 23 October 2003 17:54 (twenty-two years ago)

tooting in tooting.

jel -- (jel), Thursday, 23 October 2003 17:55 (twenty-two years ago)

Well that sounds like a fun and clever song.

Casuistry (Chris P), Thursday, 23 October 2003 17:55 (twenty-two years ago)

Wait, so both Teeny AND Adam referenced the song unwittingly??

jaymc (jaymc), Thursday, 23 October 2003 17:56 (twenty-two years ago)

Only it ISN'T.

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Thursday, 23 October 2003 17:56 (twenty-two years ago)

yes jay, ilx hivemind again.

teeny (teeny), Thursday, 23 October 2003 17:56 (twenty-two years ago)

Toot toot.......sounds like something Brandon Block might say.He loves to toot his bugle,so I'm told..........

Eugene Speed (Eugene Speed), Thursday, 23 October 2003 18:09 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm going on a road trip. Leaving after work - yay! I bought all kinds of goodies to have in the car and packed FIFTY cds!

Sarah McLusky (coco), Thursday, 23 October 2003 18:29 (twenty-two years ago)

Well that sounds like a fun and clever song.

hahahaha!

adaml (adaml), Thursday, 23 October 2003 18:41 (twenty-two years ago)

speaking of hahahaha, i am cackling with glee over what i just found out! i think i've managed to rustle up a cmj badge for hstencil so he can accompany me to some stuff on saturday, but it was issued in someone else's name. he will be posing as johnny jewel from glass candy!

lauren (laurenp), Thursday, 23 October 2003 19:10 (twenty-two years ago)

johnny jewel is totally the name of a dildo, I'm nearly certain.

teeny (teeny), Thursday, 23 October 2003 19:11 (twenty-two years ago)

That would explain Blount's email address, fer sure.

adaml (adaml), Thursday, 23 October 2003 19:12 (twenty-two years ago)

Powdered wig and mustache, Stence will be set.

This weekend? Not sure, prolly dancing on the roof of my house.

Nichole Graham (Nichole Graham), Thursday, 23 October 2003 19:12 (twenty-two years ago)

speaking of hahahaha

The best way to start a sentence ever?

adaml (adaml), Thursday, 23 October 2003 19:13 (twenty-two years ago)

ah, no, my mistake. NSFW.

teeny (teeny), Thursday, 23 October 2003 19:14 (twenty-two years ago)

Ew!

adaml (adaml), Thursday, 23 October 2003 19:15 (twenty-two years ago)

Teeny, you have just made my mouth water. Dammit;> But how to colour coordinate that?

Nichole Graham (Nichole Graham), Thursday, 23 October 2003 19:16 (twenty-two years ago)

That makes me think of Matos' "giant purple cadillac" story.

adaml (adaml), Thursday, 23 October 2003 19:16 (twenty-two years ago)

i have a feeling the illustration does not do the product justice.

lauren (laurenp), Thursday, 23 October 2003 19:18 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh, we can but hope.

adaml (adaml), Thursday, 23 October 2003 19:19 (twenty-two years ago)

i like the ratings key, though.

Baaderist (Fabfunk), Friday, 24 October 2003 06:23 (twenty-two years ago)

teeny (teeny), Friday, 24 October 2003 10:25 (twenty-two years ago)

dan is wrong on this thread but it is no surprise.

ths weekend: work on saturday, relax sunday.

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Friday, 24 October 2003 11:10 (twenty-two years ago)

No, @d@ml, if I said I was I would have to post that sentence to the paradox thread

I'm going to have a cathartic experience at home. Maybe put some music on. Hm. Any suggestions?

Vic (Vic), Friday, 7 November 2003 17:07 (twenty-two years ago)

so I was just bitching to my mom via email about job dissatisfaction, and as usual she nails it by saying 'you're probably subconsciously preparing for the future.' which is so true, it's what I always do, reject things immediately when I find out they're going away later (I'm planning on moving in like 8 months).

teeny (teeny), Friday, 7 November 2003 17:32 (twenty-two years ago)

also vic: pet shop boys loud + liquor + dancing.

teeny (teeny), Friday, 7 November 2003 17:32 (twenty-two years ago)

aw the psb are surprisingly not my musical thing! btw, teeny, can i have your job now? you won't need to wait 8 months...we can start this monday

Vic (Vic), Friday, 7 November 2003 17:40 (twenty-two years ago)

as long as I still get the paychecks. :(

teeny (teeny), Friday, 7 November 2003 17:43 (twenty-two years ago)

aw the psb are surprisingly not my musical thing!

You're fired.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 7 November 2003 17:55 (twenty-two years ago)

the universe is trying to tell me something; I just had someone who I helped out with a project in June drop off a basket of blueberry preserves and jam from Maine. Every day is generally pretty awesome, whether you enjoyed it or survived it, either is an a acomplishment.

Sorry to turn this into my affirmations thread. Also I plan on drinking and knitting this weekend. Maybe if I take some drugs I'll knit some crazy scarf like the spiders when they gave them cocaine.

teeny (teeny), Friday, 7 November 2003 18:17 (twenty-two years ago)

That's really, really, really, really funny Nedikums, considering a) I have now sent out over one-hundred and forty-five resumes since graduation - oh beccause this is my new hobby, right, and b) i just got another phone ten minutes ago about another job interview on monday. So, like, there. I might not need teeny's job anyway. Nya nya NYA!

it's teeny's LIFE i want in the first place...cue/life-swap thread

Vic (Vic), Friday, 7 November 2003 20:02 (twenty-two years ago)

Aw. :-)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 7 November 2003 20:55 (twenty-two years ago)

Ha, I love that Vic posts about planning a cathartic experience this weekend after learning what bukkake is!

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Friday, 7 November 2003 21:45 (twenty-two years ago)

good luck vic.

for me its work on saturday and sunday but there will be a FAP on sunday afternoon so there will be time for fun.

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Friday, 7 November 2003 21:51 (twenty-two years ago)

had my first bit of fun in ages, went to a tim westwood dj set. he really likes luda's "stand up" - used it as an opener & a closer.

mitch lastnamewithheld (mitchlnw), Saturday, 8 November 2003 11:13 (twenty-two years ago)

actually, i showed up pretty late, westwood might've been off the decks by that time. i couldn't see properly. whatever, it was good.

mitch lastnamewithheld (mitchlnw), Saturday, 8 November 2003 11:14 (twenty-two years ago)

shit, it's just occured to me that i might've missed hearing "fix up look sharp" for the first time outside my headphones.

mitch lastnamewithheld (mitchlnw), Saturday, 8 November 2003 11:26 (twenty-two years ago)

cool mitch.

the 'nightmare' of saturday is over with (got the work done but the lab was quite cold dammit).

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Saturday, 8 November 2003 21:57 (twenty-two years ago)

now i'm convinced that it wasn't westwood. i feel cheated.

mitch lastnamewithheld (mitchlnw), Saturday, 8 November 2003 22:05 (twenty-two years ago)

haha! how much did you pay?

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Saturday, 8 November 2003 22:07 (twenty-two years ago)

Whoo, Whoo! http://www.collegehumor.com/?movie_id=23458

I'm going to find Bubb Rubb and we're going to party.

David Beckhouse (David Beckhouse), Sunday, 9 November 2003 00:11 (twenty-two years ago)

two months pass...
So what's happening? I realize that some people are already far into their weekends.

I am currently eating cereal and listening to JC Chasez on repeat. It is a very nice-looking Northern California day so I hope to get out on the streets pretty soon. I intend to go and see Monster today. I hope it's not crap.

@d@ml (nordicskilla), Saturday, 10 January 2004 18:22 (twenty-two years ago)

after reading what you wrote under the title i was sure you were talking about coke....

pete s, Saturday, 10 January 2004 18:34 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm starving, and posting silly answers. I'm going to see the Last Samurai tomorrow.

jel -- (jel), Saturday, 10 January 2004 18:37 (twenty-two years ago)

I am off to see A Certain Film for the fifth time later today with friend Stripey, for whom it will be the first time.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Saturday, 10 January 2004 19:47 (twenty-two years ago)

The Last Samurai opens here in Rome this weekend and the trailers are inescapable. Except it's L'Ultimo Samurai, which sounds cooler. Mr teeny and I were thinking about seeing Natale In India instead.

teeny (teeny), Saturday, 10 January 2004 19:54 (twenty-two years ago)

i saw black dice last night (yay!) and then danced a lot (whoo!) and drank a lot (hic!). as a result of hangover i could do none of planned and necessary errands. instead, i spent three hours at brunch and had bling nails done.
tonight i'm going to be much more well-behaved. tomorrow i'm helping a friend cook eggs and black pudding and sausages and such for her irish birthday breakfast, and then i want to see the battle of algiers.

lauren (laurenp), Saturday, 10 January 2004 23:21 (twenty-two years ago)

I was reading about Battle of the Algiers yesterday. It sounds very cool.

bnw (bnw), Saturday, 10 January 2004 23:46 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm making french onion soup tonight. I'm already drunk on sherry and it's only 7:20. Wait until I rip into the beaujolais!

jody (Jody Beth Rosen), Sunday, 11 January 2004 00:21 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm having carrot cake for breakfast. intend to be lazy today.

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Sunday, 11 January 2004 11:05 (twenty-two years ago)

@d@m, let me know what you thought of Monster; I saw it last night.

I expect since it is 6:23 AM and I haven't gone to bed yet, I will be spending much of Sunday sleeping.

jaymc (jaymc), Sunday, 11 January 2004 12:24 (twenty-two years ago)

i have just got up and am hopefully gonna fry up some bacon, tomato, mushrooms with beans and toast as long as none of my other housemates are occupying our tiny kitchen. then i have to work on a couple of things like logos for people but i wouldn't mind watching the Man Utd v Newcastle game later on in the pub.

stevem (blueski), Sunday, 11 January 2004 13:55 (twenty-two years ago)

I really kinda liked the Last Sanurai. Still not seen RotK :(

jel -- (jel), Sunday, 11 January 2004 17:04 (twenty-two years ago)

I thought this thread was going to be about Denise La Salle.

MarkH (MarkH), Sunday, 11 January 2004 17:09 (twenty-two years ago)

anyway, it *is* the weekend. Here's what 've been doing...went up to Headington Quarry (on the other side of Oxford) to buy speakers for my pc. Those of you who read my blog (aw come on there must be at least 2 of you) will know this is the pc I got free from work that I've been having some problems with. I thought the work pooters didn't have soundcards but turns out they do so I just needed speakers. Got a quite decent pair for £11. Then wandered around Quarry for a bit, v. pleasant area, looks as tho it hasn't changed for centuries. Saw three ppl I thought I knew in quick succession who, as I got closer turned out to be strangers. Not an unusual event in itself, but three all in one day. Had a pub lunch at the Quarry Gate, which I hadn't been to before. Then went shopping for cds (Julain Cope, Husker Du, Ballboy, Death Cab for Cutie and the Belle & sebastian Fans only DVD). Saw a colleague in the record store, then later my ex's housemate and a girl I used to work with 3 years ago! Spent the evening in watching the b&s dvd.

MarkH (MarkH), Sunday, 11 January 2004 17:19 (twenty-two years ago)

Mark, that link doesn't work. May explain why only 2 people read yr blog.

Billy Dods (Billy Dods), Sunday, 11 January 2004 17:44 (twenty-two years ago)

MarkH (MarkH), Sunday, 11 January 2004 17:47 (twenty-two years ago)

last night I saw "shattered glass," which was actually great, and tonight of course, like millions of households across the continent, we will be hosting a people's choice awards party.

s1ocki (slutsky), Sunday, 11 January 2004 18:21 (twenty-two years ago)

It is sooooo cold yet I still went out and bought some records and tschotschkes and a mini crockpot and books. And ingredients for dinner.

tokyo rosemary (rosemary), Sunday, 11 January 2004 19:46 (twenty-two years ago)

Pretenders "Precious"
Dismemberment Plan "Superpowers"
Sloan "Snowsuit Sound"
Gang Of Four "Damaged Goods"
Basement Jaxx "Plug It In" (I faded out a minute or so of instrumental crapola but you can't tell if you don't know the track)
Junior Senior "Shake Your Coconuts"
AC/DC - "Long Way To The Top (If You Wanna Rock And Roll)"
Angry Samoans - "Lights Out"
(side two)
David Bowie - "TVC15"
Bikini Kill - "Rebel Girl"
Kelly Osbourne - "Come Dig Me Out"
Placebo - "Special Needs"
Liz Phair "Love/Hate"
Rocket From The Crypt "Tarzan"
Beat Happening "Indian Summer"
Yeah Yeah Yeahs "Y Control"

Anthony Miccio (Anthony Miccio), Sunday, 11 January 2004 19:53 (twenty-two years ago)

sweet smell is the best.

s1ocki (slutsky), Sunday, 11 January 2004 20:00 (twenty-two years ago)

Indeed it is. It is Chuck tatum's favorite film.

Jaymc, I errr, guess Monster was good, but I can't say I *enjoyed* it all that much. What did you think? Perhaps a discussion elsewhere?

I also saw A Mighty Wind last night which was really good! Best Yiddish joke ever ohmygoditstillmakesmecrackup!!! Tonight I will be watching Mysterious Object At Noon.

@d@ml (nordicskilla), Sunday, 11 January 2004 22:02 (twenty-two years ago)

Tonight I will be watching Mysterious Object At Noon

I've been thinking of buying this for while, tell us how is al.

It was good...a bit ragged, but good.

AdamL :') (nordicskilla), Thursday, 24 June 2004 21:29 (twenty-one years ago)

I think that I got caught up in the Film Comment hype on that one.

deanomgwtf!!!p%3Fmsgid%3D4581997 (deangulberry), Thursday, 24 June 2004 21:59 (twenty-one years ago)

I liked it "for what it was".

AdamL :') (nordicskilla), Thursday, 24 June 2004 22:00 (twenty-one years ago)

It's Friday already, why am I up so late? I think I will listen to "Crazy Nights" then go to bed.

This weekend - Mario Cart, football.

jel -- (jel), Thursday, 24 June 2004 22:03 (twenty-one years ago)

I don't remember posting to this thread.

cozen (Cozen), Thursday, 24 June 2004 22:04 (twenty-one years ago)

cozen, you were sitting in front of a computer, or hell maybe you were standing, but you did type a message and post it to this thread!

jel -- (jel), Thursday, 24 June 2004 22:06 (twenty-one years ago)

This weekend I will play video games, read more of my book about murderous Mormons, probably listen to Charles Mingus and Arthur Russell, drink some wine, sit at my laptop trying to write, watch some football I downloaded, buy some dull but necessary household items. There may be a BBQ.

AdamL :') (nordicskilla), Thursday, 24 June 2004 22:13 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm so middle class!

AdamL :') (nordicskilla), Thursday, 24 June 2004 22:13 (twenty-one years ago)

This weekend I have two shows. At some point I might try to paint the bedroom I'm moving into, which the previous tenants (punker types) decided to paint a dark, dark purple. Hopefully I'll finish up my book of Orwell essays, too.
