Here!

My dad has retired and desperately needs to find a hobby, I think.

ARRGGHH! ARRGGHH! CUTENESS ATTACK! CUTENESS ATTACK!

Michael Daddino (epicharmus), Friday, 24 October 2003 08:01 (twenty-two years ago)

20 years old. That's quite a good innings for a cat!

Has Cindy retired???

MarkH (MarkH), Friday, 24 October 2003 08:01 (twenty-two years ago)

koogs (koogs), Friday, 24 October 2003 08:02 (twenty-two years ago)

What is up with the BBC lately? Is it the same as ILX when it experiences a bout of badness, the kitten threads come back? Never mind about that pesky Hutton Enquiry, LOOK! SOME CUTE CATS!!! AREN'T THEY SWEEEEEEEET?!?!?

kate (kate), Friday, 24 October 2003 08:03 (twenty-two years ago)

ha, I think the cute cats are always there. It's just not every day that there's a cute *ILX* cat.

what about the Grauniad with its "match the pet to the person" thang on Saturday, wtf?

MarkH (MarkH), Friday, 24 October 2003 08:05 (twenty-two years ago)

Terrifying, isn't it? (I think she's 18 or 19 rather than 20, but it's not quite as impressive is it?)

Nick Southall (Nick Southall), Friday, 24 October 2003 08:08 (twenty-two years ago)

but is she active? does she still deposit little dead or dying things on yr kitchen floor?

MarkH (MarkH), Friday, 24 October 2003 08:09 (twenty-two years ago)

She's very much retired in that sense.

Nick Southall (Nick Southall), Friday, 24 October 2003 08:16 (twenty-two years ago)

Hardcore cat fanciers are probably already aware of this, but...

Jerry the Nipper (Jerrynipper), Friday, 24 October 2003 08:21 (twenty-two years ago)

19 is a bluddy good innings for a cat (mine died at about 14). Yours looks pretty healthy tho.

robster (robster), Friday, 24 October 2003 08:22 (twenty-two years ago)

People fancy CATS?!?!? Dude, that's sick. I draw the line at beastiality.

kate (kate), Friday, 24 October 2003 08:22 (twenty-two years ago)

Spot the Gareth-Cat in this episode.

Jerry the Nipper (Jerrynipper), Friday, 24 October 2003 08:32 (twenty-two years ago)

Hooray for the Southall cat!

Pesky html. Someone take out the big letters and fix that please.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Friday, 24 October 2003 12:48 (twenty-two years ago)

Own up, that was made by an Ilx0r, wasn't it?

Matt DC (Matt DC), Friday, 24 October 2003 12:48 (twenty-two years ago)

There's no way it couldn't be an ILXer. (Though I shudder to think what it says about the world if it wasn't!)

kate (kate), Friday, 24 October 2003 12:52 (twenty-two years ago)

four months pass...
My cat is dying. She was ill over the weekend so we took her to the vet, and he says she's "worn out". She's 20. Her heart, lungs and kidneys are all knackered. She might last days, she might last months. However long she lasts, she's getting lots of attention and only being fed real tuna and salmon from now on, and not that crap out of sachets.

Sick Nouthall (Nick Southall), Tuesday, 9 March 2004 09:29 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh no that's terrible news Nick, hope you are ok.

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Tuesday, 9 March 2004 10:01 (twenty-one years ago)

Aw. Pass on my best regards to the cat along with some salami. Well, our cat used to like salami. Unfortunately she decided that she'd rather be squished under a car at a young age so she never got to move on to a wider range of cured meats. Sob.

Is salami a cured meat? You know what type I mean, the ones that are all found in the aisle with the pies in Vauxhall Sainsburys.

I can't believe that I not only just asked co-workers about this but one is at this very point in time phoning her fiance who worked on a meat counter...

Yes!! It's cured meats.

Sorry to divert there. You look after the cat Nick, you can use some of the picnic food if you want.

Sarah (starry), Tuesday, 9 March 2004 10:59 (twenty-one years ago)

It's fair to say she's had a good life.

Sick Nouthall (Nick Southall), Tuesday, 9 March 2004 11:21 (twenty-one years ago)

The cured meat conversation is still going. The doctors advise not giving the cat salami as the salt content is too much for their poor little livers. Sod that, give the cat BOUZE, I thort. But there you go, that is their advice.

Sarah (starry), Tuesday, 9 March 2004 11:37 (twenty-one years ago)

She likes spicy chicken, but chilli made her sneeze.

Sick Nouthall (Nick Southall), Tuesday, 9 March 2004 11:46 (twenty-one years ago)

I like spicy chicken. Perhaps I will have a KFC Zinger Salad in tribute to your cat.

Or maybe not.

Sarah (starry), Tuesday, 9 March 2004 11:47 (twenty-one years ago)

ten months pass...
We had Cindy put down today. We've been expecting it, obviously, for a year if not longer, and today we finally decided to have it done. We'd been taking her to the vet where she'd been getting steroid injections to perk her up every few months, but the period of time that she'd be bright for after each injection was getting shorter and shorter. Last night she was up being sick and defecating without control a lot of the night. She seemed a bit better by mid morning but by lunchtime it was clear she wasn't. Mum and dad phoned the vet and took her in at about 1.30pm. I took our last pet to be put down so I didn't go.

Cindy was 21, which I think is a bloody good lifetime for a cat to have had. Not every cat gets to be Pet of the Week on bbc.co.uk. We loved her.

Sick Mouthy (Nick Southall), Sunday, 23 January 2005 20:16 (twenty-one years ago)

Ah, my sympathies. 21 years is a good life for a cat, but I don't imagine that affects how much it hurts.
