I warned you not to anger him!

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Friday, 24 October 2003 08:34 (twenty-two years ago)

I was *so* wanting this to be pissed in the drunk sense.

MarkH (MarkH), Friday, 24 October 2003 08:34 (twenty-two years ago)

Yeah, I was really hoping this would be, like:

FAP, Heaven, at the Pearly Gates?!?!? or something

kate (kate), Friday, 24 October 2003 08:38 (twenty-two years ago)

A ruined deity would be a awesome thing.

Ricardo (RickyT), Friday, 24 October 2003 08:41 (twenty-two years ago)

that St. Peter is one mean bouncer.

MarkH (MarkH), Friday, 24 October 2003 08:42 (twenty-two years ago)

It suggests that God can only speak Aramaic and Latin, thus all modern blasphemy has utterly passed Him by. Hurrah!

Matt (Matt), Friday, 24 October 2003 08:44 (twenty-two years ago)

i am terrified this film will eventually be released. it's about 11 hours long and you see the stigmata and everything...

stevem (blueski), Friday, 24 October 2003 08:45 (twenty-two years ago)

that'll be why my prayers are never answered (note to self: sign up for Latin classes).

MarkH (MarkH), Friday, 24 October 2003 08:45 (twenty-two years ago)

With that whole lightening story, this might just be the best film, ever. Possibly surpassing even the Last Temptation Of Christ. (Was there any lighting attacks during the making of that film? Or just a plague of Bowie?)

kate (kate), Friday, 24 October 2003 08:46 (twenty-two years ago)

X-pOst... it's so strange, because I was just writing something like that in my diary the other day, MarkH...

When I was a kid, I thought god spoke in Latin, because that was the language that so much of Church was in. So I learned Latin, and it was just all mundane stuff about wars and orgies and stuff. Then I thought it was Runes, so I learned those, but the Vikings just wrote, like, Olaf Was Here as stuff. Then I thought it was perhaps Sanscrit! Until I actually heard a Kula Shaker song, and then I changed my mind quite fast. Now I'm convinced that god speaks in mathematics.

I've only seen a clip of Last Temptation of Christ and that was enough to put me off. Jesus says "here is my heart" and reaches inside his chest to pluck out his heart which he shows, still beating, to his disciples. Scorcese was obv. inspired by those scary Catholic pictures, where Jesus's heart is clearly on display.

There was a man whose heart was not in the right place.

MarkH (MarkH), Friday, 24 October 2003 08:49 (twenty-two years ago)

Yeah, but that's what's great about it! I, too, was terrified by nuns showing me those pictures as a child!

kate (kate), Friday, 24 October 2003 08:55 (twenty-two years ago)

there is a convent just across the road from my office. For some reason the nuns always walk about in threes.

MarkH (MarkH), Friday, 24 October 2003 09:03 (twenty-two years ago)

that's cos there's a sale on Mark - buy nun get two free

stevem (blueski), Friday, 24 October 2003 09:10 (twenty-two years ago)

It's to symbolise The Trinity, you know. ;-) Mother, Nun, and Holy Superior.
