Short Film Response: FAT TONY'S CANCER!

I just found a student film I made back in 2001, Fat Tony's Cancer, on the web. I'm kinda curious what people who aren't fellow students, relatives or IN the film, think of it. It's only like 9 minutes and it's uhh...it's a comedy I think. I remember it was meant to be a big fuck you to my professors but somehow got into the student film festival (they tell me it's cuz the judges had just sat through a shitload of bad student dramas right before it).

WHADDYA THINK, ILX?

(the visual is a bit darker cuz of the digital transfer and all that)

Sorry can't play it with windows media player. I wonder what else might work? Not my comp. or I would know better.

It is beautiful like a tree in a forest.

Anthony, I was impressed by this. Some if it is a little unclear, although you are to be congratulated for defining your protagonist's goals fairly quickly. I've seen a lot of bad student films that went nowhere, but this was a fairly pacy nine minutes. All of the "God" scenes are the strongest, and I particularly liked "Body, Brain, and Balls" and the dancing sequence (very nice). I would be interested to see more. Are you a fan of Kevin Smith?

Your appearance at the end was also a highlight.

Kevin Smith's OK. I definitely dug Clerks. Mallrats blows. Chasing Amy is good for the first 2/3rds and Dogma was mostly-hit-bitta-miss. Totally not interested in seeing the Kevin Smith Annual #1 movie. I'm worried he's getting his ass tongued too much by boy nerds and won't actually evolve as a director.

That was sort of awesome, actually. Much better than most student films I've seen (ie I made it through the entire thing v. cutting out after four minutes).
