I just like the fact that this collection of reviews exists.

Given where I come from, next time I might try the "African" pizza, which includes chicken, banana, cheese and tomato. But at the same time, I must point out that we would most likely be ordering seafood or pepperoni pizzas. I imagine it is the banana that made the restaurant decide that such a pizza would have a truly African character.

These are pretty brilliant (and if I were actually there to try them out to understandf better the relationship between the reviews and the actual restaurants, that would be even classicker).

"Taj Mahal: Dining at an Indian restaurant should be a sensuous experience." Ouch.

I don't know if I should take seriously a review of a Mexican restaurant in which the reviewer states the best Mexican food he's ever had was in Pittsburgh, of all bloody places. I mean, gosh, Salt Lake City is bound to have better Mexican food than Pittsburgh has. I would trust a Denver Mexican restaurant to have good Mexican food. But... Cape Town? As in, South Africa? ¿Mande? Plus, empanadas (as the word is supposed to be spelt) done the Mexican way would be sweet things filled with pumpkin or sweet potato or chunks of apples or cherries.

*is confounded for the rest of the night*

I've been slightly obsessed with Bulgaria for awhile, but this makes me want to get on a plane Right Now.

sofia is actually supposed to be both really beautiful and kinda trendy among the backpacker set ... it hasn't been as invaded by the hordes the way that, say, budapest or prague have been.

dunno about the food though. i imagine that bulgarians eat lots of kebabs and baba ghanouj.

Eisbär (llamasfur), Monday, 27 October 2003 06:36 (twenty-two years ago)

Yep, pretty similar to greek/turkish food and it's true that Sofia is starting to have quite a rep..

Hm! Maybe it's the new food visitation area of choice. Let's send Bourdain to do a show there.

Now back to this banana on a pizza thing. It does sound wrong.

I have actually been to Bulgaria, but I don't remember much of it except for wandering around buying Kinder eggs with school chums and trying to figure out how much money I was supposed to pay this guy for the ice cream cone I bought.

I wonder if it would go well with pineapples on pizza.

there actually is a decent Mexican place in Salt Lake City, can't remember the name of it, but it was where I dined the last time I was there.

I'm actually figuring there has to be at least a couple of good Pacific Islander spots in SLC as well due to a large amount of Mormon-sponsored immigration from places like Samoa and Hawaii. Hm, Utah poi.
