Eyeball Kicks (Eyeball Kicks), Friday, 31 October 2003 18:26 (twenty-two years ago)

Despite trying to take advantage of it, I think you should get rid of the bonus points for 0-0. If someone had picked 0-0 for EVERY premiership game this season they would be top of the table now with 270 points (including the double scoring in week 2, but not any other bonus points they may have received), which seems daft.

but no-one was ever going to do that, and just cos they may be top now it doesn't mean they would be by Christmas or at the end of the season.

stevem (blueski), Friday, 31 October 2003 23:01 (twenty-two years ago)

I suspect many or all of us spotted that this would be a good tactic. If you were offering a big cash prize I would have gone that way, but it's pointless in a game for fun.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Friday, 31 October 2003 23:08 (twenty-two years ago)

if there's a big enough amount of no score draws the coming month then i guess i'll drop the 5 point bonus

Wahoo! Did quite well on the Conference front!

jel -- (jel), Saturday, 1 November 2003 17:08 (twenty-two years ago)

I am really bad.
Remind me not to enter
next week's draw. Thank you.

Haikunym (Haikunym), Saturday, 1 November 2003 17:11 (twenty-two years ago)

the goal-less draw between Gravesend and Accrington has caused massive upheaval, and i suppose it does fuel the argument that offering such huge points for these makes it easier to score high if you just pick all 0-0s, ho hum

top ten now reads:

james ball = 296
darren = 290
martin skidmore = 283
mark h = 279
zebedee = 277
matt dc = 255
mark c = 251
david beckhouse = 251
billy dods = 250

but 3 more games to go, could change again

stevem (blueski), Saturday, 1 November 2003 18:17 (twenty-two years ago)

oops, jel is 10th on 239 pts (haikunym you're 11th so not THAT bad at all)

stevem (blueski), Saturday, 1 November 2003 18:18 (twenty-two years ago)

Hurrah, climbing back up a bit! I thought I was in a Portsmouth-like decline (sorry, Martian!). Finally Zebedee has been caught.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Saturday, 1 November 2003 18:58 (twenty-two years ago)

Next week's bonus question should be: 'How many weeks before I overtake Steve m at fantasy football'

Ed (dali), Saturday, 1 November 2003 19:01 (twenty-two years ago)

I want conference predictions every week! I'd be top 5 if I'd entered this competition in the first week, it's like the ILXFA deducted points from me, but I'm still fighting! Or something.

jel -- (jel), Saturday, 1 November 2003 19:01 (twenty-two years ago)

james ball = 296

we'll have to call him James "On The" Ball from now on.

MarkH (MarkH), Sunday, 2 November 2003 21:19 (twenty-two years ago)

James Ball is still top of the ILX FFL as well, damn him.

the goal-less draw between Gravesend and Accrington has caused massive upheaval

A line which, I'm sure you'll agree, has never been uttered before in the whole history of football.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Sunday, 2 November 2003 21:56 (twenty-two years ago)

what were the actual conference results? metro hasn't printed them today

james b goes top using the zebedee formula (patent pending), so i win regardless ;-)

zebedee (zebedee), Monday, 3 November 2003 16:39 (twenty-two years ago)

Yep, definitely a zebedee-inspired tactic there.

I'd be more than happy if the 0-0's lost their extra 5 points, but until that point I'll go on picking them if I'm in any doubt.

James Ball (James Ball), Tuesday, 4 November 2003 00:32 (twenty-two years ago)
