is it wrong to buy tickets at a members-only presale then put them on e-bay?

...or scalp them at the show itself for an inflated price?
I have the opportunity to buy some tickets for an added show on a much-hyped reunion tour. I already have tickets for the first two nights so I won't need them myself.
Thoughts? Opinions? Comments?

Yes, it is immoral. And isn't eBay cracking down on this sort of thing? (Though technically they want to get in on the act.)

I mean really. As a Good Fan, you should offer them to other fans, first.

kate (kate), Wednesday, 29 October 2003 15:50 (twenty-two years ago)

But these are Duran Duran fans. And they're fucking mad. Mad!

Ticketbastard has decided they want to get in on this and auction the best seats to shows on eBay or similar. Wankers.

Catty (Catty), Wednesday, 29 October 2003 15:56 (twenty-two years ago)

That makes it even more immoral. If Ticketbastard are doing it, it MUST be wrong.

sigh

Horace Mann (Horace Mann), Wednesday, 29 October 2003 15:59 (twenty-two years ago)

I will personally give you permission to do this only on the proviso that you are very, very poor. Otherwise, you may not.

adaml (adaml), Wednesday, 29 October 2003 16:02 (twenty-two years ago)

I'd probably spend the profit on books at amazon.uk and on crap pop singles, poor or no.

Catty (Catty), Wednesday, 29 October 2003 16:03 (twenty-two years ago)

Especially considering she didn't offer to get them for MEEEE first. Humph! See if I tell you when The Horny Historian or CSI is on ever again!

kate (kate), Wednesday, 29 October 2003 16:03 (twenty-two years ago)

Kate's right -- offer them to the fans first. Who says they won't give you a good offer for it?

Miggie (Miggie), Wednesday, 29 October 2003 16:04 (twenty-two years ago)

nordic otm

if you do this, i can only hope that you are forced to pay through the nose for scalped tickets at some very near point in the future

mark p (Mark P), Wednesday, 29 October 2003 16:05 (twenty-two years ago)

fucking karma.

And the show is in Chicago, Kate. Didn't think you'd want to fly over for it. Besides, you HATE going to shows!

Catty (Catty), Wednesday, 29 October 2003 16:15 (twenty-two years ago)

OK, you're right about the Chicago thing, cause the only thing I hate more than going to shows is flying in planes. But still.

I am categorically against scalping. You know, the Categorical Imperative and all that. If you hate when it's done to you, don't do it to other people. Cause you can't give karma a little push, it doesn't work that way.

kate (kate), Wednesday, 29 October 2003 16:17 (twenty-two years ago)

Awwww... I want a get-rich-quick scheme!

Catty (Catty), Wednesday, 29 October 2003 16:18 (twenty-two years ago)

Sell them for donuts!

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Wednesday, 29 October 2003 16:19 (twenty-two years ago)

mmmm..... traded donuts....

Catty (Catty), Wednesday, 29 October 2003 16:21 (twenty-two years ago)

and thus karma was restored in the universe!

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Wednesday, 29 October 2003 16:23 (twenty-two years ago)

Chicago... Duran Duran... concert....

*faints*

Oh yes, and you were saying about dd.com... ? You poor angel, you. Those are the most psychotic fanatic types I've ever had the misfortune of coming across. *tsk* Though it *is* rather necessary to go 'round those parts for news updates and the like, isn't it?

*suddenly remembers LK*

*smiles*

Yes, it is very, very wrong to wear a members-only jacket.
