The were both showing at about the same time over here, I think I saw them on consecutive days.

So, vastly manipulative film about "the birth of cool" made by one of those whose myth it's propping up, or entirely anonymous documentary about a fascinating and heart-breaking sequence of events?

Hmm, the phrasing of that questions certainly isn't biased in any way.

I'm not expecting to coerce answers out of people who haven't seen them :)

Haven't seen LILM yet, though I want to. Dogtown I thought was good and sad in its own way, and if you're aware of who the director is when you watch the movie, you can enjoy it with a critical eye. My main problem with Dogtown was the flashy editing. It was annoying. They needed more straight old footage.

Lost in La Mancha had some great scenes, esp. the ones involving the Giants.

Q: Is Lost in La Mancha the documentary about the Terry Gilliam Don Quixote pic that the Hand of God keeps killing?

Dogtown & the Z-Boys was a waaaay better film than I expected; granted, I expected just another skate-vid, for I was vastly underinformed about it before seeing it.

one year passes...
my impression of lost in la mancha: "we're fucked!" (repeat 100 times)

I bought lost in la mancha ages ago and watched it once and have kind of forgotten all about it

I just saw dogtown and the z-boys, last week, and thought it was really good but, yeah, a little bit more mythologising than was necessary but, I guess, that's what happens, when things happen in the past

I think I will go and see this lords of dogtown, though

the title is dogtown and z-boys (no "the"), isn't it? (yes, according to the imdb.)

the happy smile patrol (Jody Beth Rosen), Thursday, 22 September 2005 23:33 (twenty years ago)

I like it a little less

I saw lords of dogtown tonight, but had to leave 20 minutes before the end. the minutes up till then weren't awful, but dogtown and the z boys is supposed to be incomparably better.
