Tracer Hand (tracerhand), Friday, 31 October 2003 02:02 (twenty-two years ago)

hi tracer!

geeta (geeta), Friday, 31 October 2003 02:03 (twenty-two years ago)

You're really bored in London, aren't you sweetie?

Allyzay, Friday, 31 October 2003 02:06 (twenty-two years ago)

dude tracer getting a bar in NYC that will let your friends dj is harder than i thought! i just talked to a bar in the LES that told me 'it's ok if you guys dj...as long as you don't play DANCE MUSIC!'

?!?!?!?!

geeta (geeta), Friday, 31 October 2003 02:09 (twenty-two years ago)

but then infrared called and was like yo it's cool you all can dj here!!

how's london?

geeta (geeta), Friday, 31 October 2003 02:14 (twenty-two years ago)

i talked to one of our guest speakers in the pub today, he walked 300 km thru jungle to get footage of liberian rebels fighting charles taylor! the UN said that taylor was just making up stories about some supposed resistance in a ploy to get the sanctions lifted, sanctions that had been in place since 2001. most people just went with the UN's story. this guy TRAVELED with the resistance (a lot of them are mercenaries, just like taylor's govt troops; if you can get an AK over there, they cost about $20, you get food, something to do, women, so there are a LOT of mercenaries) and they had all these brand-new RPGs with dates of 2001 on them!! (i think they were traced to Belgrade and a fall guy was designatedjustice was done)

yesterday i wrote the 200 word story of the preliminary earnings report of a Newcastle house builder

Tracer Hand (tracerhand), Friday, 31 October 2003 02:29 (twenty-two years ago)

and i am totally exhausted

Tracer Hand (tracerhand), Friday, 31 October 2003 02:30 (twenty-two years ago)

What does that have to do with the original question?

ModJ (ModJ), Friday, 31 October 2003 03:01 (twenty-two years ago)

absolutely nothing!

tracer that sounds grebt!

geeta (geeta), Friday, 31 October 2003 03:02 (twenty-two years ago)

ILX is definitely in control of me. Someone told me today that I was, like, part of the furniture. I'm not sure what kind of back-handed compliment that was supposed to be, but I guess that depends if either I'm a comfy chaise-lounge or a frightening scary, pointed, gothic coffeetable that leaps out and stubs your toe every time you try to walk across the room. Mwah hah hah!

kate (kate), Friday, 31 October 2003 09:18 (twenty-two years ago)

I see myself as this

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Friday, 31 October 2003 09:26 (twenty-two years ago)

Well I'm bur-latently addicted as this is my day off!!

Enrique (Enrique), Friday, 31 October 2003 09:28 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh fuck, well further to last post when I'm at home I have a Turing-era 'puter, so I dunno if it got on.

Anyway... I'm burlatently addicted as it's my day off.

Henry K M (Enrique), Friday, 31 October 2003 09:31 (twenty-two years ago)

i think i may be clinging to this board a little lately, which may not be too healthy

stevem (blueski), Friday, 31 October 2003 10:00 (twenty-two years ago)

Turing era computer... thanks, I'm now having these visions that all those staff at Bletchley Park weren't actually busy working away at cracking Enigma, but secretly posting to ILX "Vera Lynn roXors, U R gay"

God, I am so addicted that I go home every night, and HSA asks "how was work?" and instead of telling him about work, I tell him what the Internet People talked about.

kate (kate), Friday, 31 October 2003 10:10 (twenty-two years ago)

Hahaha! So do I!!

colin s barrow (colin s barrow), Friday, 31 October 2003 10:12 (twenty-two years ago)

I mention stuff to J about ILX, but only because he knows what I'm talking about. I stick around here cos I enjoy talking to some of the ppl here & also it relieves the boredom of the day. (sometimes!)

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Friday, 31 October 2003 10:14 (twenty-two years ago)

I think this is the thing that finally got HSA coming to FAP's - he felt like he knew all the Internet People anyway! (And was starting to get jealous.)

kate (kate), Friday, 31 October 2003 10:15 (twenty-two years ago)

Awwww!

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Friday, 31 October 2003 10:16 (twenty-two years ago)

Well I find it's great for reaching out to others without actually being physically touched *shudder*

colin s barrow (colin s barrow), Friday, 31 October 2003 10:17 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm really cross with myself because I managed to kick the habit for six months (it took a week's holiday in the mountains, far away from any computers) and then a fortnight ago, BAM!

I'm currently doing one task, reading one thread, doing one task, reading one thread... This seems to work better than arriving at work, catching up on every single thread on the new answers board, then realising it's approaching lunchtime, then spending my lunch hour reading ilx too, then going home early because I'll only be reading ilx, so I may as well do it in the comfort of my own home. Which is what happened yesterday.

Madchen (Madchen), Friday, 31 October 2003 10:18 (twenty-two years ago)

Oops! I know about thinking to yourself, I'll just do this & then check ilx!

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Friday, 31 October 2003 10:22 (twenty-two years ago)

Yeah, what can I say? I had kicked it completely, and then I got that awful job at the mobile phone company, and I couldn't even get through one task without checking it.

And again, a few months ago, I had got to the point where I only needed to check it once a week or something, but now I'm at work? Every few seconds.

It really is down to the tedium and boredom of my job. However, if I spent all the time and effort that I spend posting to ILX looking for a more interesting and engaging job, this wouldn't be a problem. Sheesh! What a paradox!

kate (kate), Friday, 31 October 2003 10:23 (twenty-two years ago)

Sarah pointed out the other day that the first three or four things I talked about when we met up after work were things that had happened on ILX - "ILX has got really good lately, huh?" "it's just this thing, y'know?"

Mark C (Mark C), Friday, 31 October 2003 10:55 (twenty-two years ago)

i like my job, but i'm still on this bitch ALL THE TIME (!)

stevem (blueski), Friday, 31 October 2003 11:02 (twenty-two years ago)

Well then you've got a whole new set or problems!

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Friday, 31 October 2003 11:03 (twenty-two years ago)

Is ILX actually addictive? Because I think it is. Or, at least, it's irresistable to someone with a compulsive personality.

kate (kate), Friday, 31 October 2003 11:03 (twenty-two years ago)

If fat people can sue McDonalds and smokers can sue Philip Morris, I'm going to sue y'all for preventing me from geeting a career or, indeed, a job.

Mark C (Mark C), Friday, 31 October 2003 11:05 (twenty-two years ago)

What's pathetic is, you're all sitting in offices, using this to escape the boredom of your jobs. I'm sitting at home, using this to escape the boredom of my fucking LIFE.

kate (kate), Friday, 31 October 2003 11:07 (twenty-two years ago)

I gave somebody the url on Sunday night and immediately felt like I was some kind of shady drug dealer.

Madchen (Madchen), Friday, 31 October 2003 11:07 (twenty-two years ago)

I've just got Catty hooked and this is one of the proudest accomplishments of my life. When you're getting constant emails from someone about how much they hate their office, and you just send them the URL of one thread... mwah hah hah! One of us! One of us!

kate (kate), Friday, 31 October 2003 11:09 (twenty-two years ago)

What's this about "ILX getting good these days." It's been crap from day 1. If it got good then we'd all have something to worry about.

Tracer Hand (tracerhand), Friday, 31 October 2003 13:56 (twenty-two years ago)

My sister asked me if I knew any good 'chat rooms' and I said no I've never been in one, she knows I go online, she knows a wee tiny bit about ILX and she was fishing - I didn't tell her the address, I want it all for myself! Am I a bad person?

smee (smee), Friday, 31 October 2003 14:07 (twenty-two years ago)

No I want my twin to myself of ILX! ;-)

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Friday, 31 October 2003 14:12 (twenty-two years ago)

Aww thanx...although we are tres similar, we could be the first ILX triplets....

smee (smee), Friday, 31 October 2003 14:14 (twenty-two years ago)

Bring her on. Although we might fight. :-(

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Friday, 31 October 2003 14:15 (twenty-two years ago)

See, this is my quandry, I would be all defensive and big sistery and want to shout at people who were mean to her....

smee (smee), Friday, 31 October 2003 17:10 (twenty-two years ago)

ilx has clearly been in control since around oct 2001

strongo hulkington's ghost (dubplatestyle), Friday, 31 October 2003 17:11 (twenty-two years ago)

As much as I bitch about ilx, I've had a really really really horrible week and it has helped take my mind off things and made me laugh a little.

Nicolars (Nicole), Friday, 31 October 2003 17:38 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm in control of my ILX destiny.

jel -- (jel), Friday, 31 October 2003 17:39 (twenty-two years ago)

That's what they all say, jel.

Tracer Hand (tracerhand), Friday, 31 October 2003 22:21 (twenty-two years ago)

Charles is in charge.

Kim (Kim), Friday, 31 October 2003 23:03 (twenty-two years ago)

all I gotta say is if you think ILX is bad, stay off of AIM.

A Girl Named Sam (thatgirl), Saturday, 1 November 2003 01:19 (twenty-two years ago)

Yeah, I'm totally in control of my ILX habit. Really! I can stop whenever I want. Really! I just have to keep telling myself this over and over and over again....

Christine 'Green Leafy Dragon' Indigo (cindigo), Saturday, 1 November 2003 02:02 (twenty-two years ago)

I have never felt more grateful for a community of individuals as I have felt toward ILX. You people have made me realize just how perfectly acceptable and even wonderful being a bit unusual or non-average can be. If it hadn't been for this realization, things would be so much harder for me in terms of inner dialogue.

It's incredibly hard to believe all of this has been accomplished in such a short period of time, too. A little over half a year. My goodness, this takes effect quickly.

Many Coloured Halo (Dee the Lurker), Saturday, 1 November 2003 06:24 (twenty-two years ago)

I AM IN CONTROL!

jel -- (jel), Saturday, 1 November 2003 10:21 (twenty-two years ago)

I AM IN CONTROL OF JEL!

Mark C (Mark C), Saturday, 1 November 2003 23:27 (twenty-two years ago)
