strongo hulkington's ghost (dubplatestyle), Friday, 31 October 2003 02:38 (twenty-two years ago)

it's like ILX "clue"

strongo hulkington's ghost (dubplatestyle), Friday, 31 October 2003 02:39 (twenty-two years ago)

i have been through 1 and 1/2 bottles of nyquil and dayquil this week. the ghosts of lester bangs and dj screw are pleased. BUT I AM NOT.

strongo hulkington's ghost (dubplatestyle), Friday, 31 October 2003 02:41 (twenty-two years ago)

I think I'm the only person who didn't get sick at Spencer/Matos FAP which is really weird.

Allyzay, Friday, 31 October 2003 02:42 (twenty-two years ago)

It wasn't me. I am completely fine. Except for a bruised ass.

Carey (Carey), Friday, 31 October 2003 02:42 (twenty-two years ago)

was cough syrup really a popular delinquent drug at one point? it just makes me want to go sleepy-bye for the most part. i find it hard to imagine british ruffians with bad rockabilly coiffs going out of the beaches of brighton and downing the 'tussin before getting into a "rumble".

strongo hulkington's ghost (dubplatestyle), Friday, 31 October 2003 02:43 (twenty-two years ago)

i'm not sick

Annouschka (Jody Beth Rosen), Friday, 31 October 2003 02:50 (twenty-two years ago)

is it just me and geeta then?

strongo hulkington's ghost (dubplatestyle), Friday, 31 October 2003 02:52 (twenty-two years ago)

And Tom.

Allyzay, Friday, 31 October 2003 02:54 (twenty-two years ago)

It wasn't me. I am completely fine. Except for a bruised ass.

Again I curse having moved out of NYC FAP range.

Dave M. (rotten03), Friday, 31 October 2003 02:55 (twenty-two years ago)

I am just getting over it after 3 solid days of hell. I know a certain kind soul who wears mittenlets seemed a little sick before I did.

bnw (bnw), Friday, 31 October 2003 03:08 (twenty-two years ago)

if you attend FAPs it is customary to give you the plague

the surface noise (electricsound), Friday, 31 October 2003 03:10 (twenty-two years ago)

cough syrup as OTC psychedelic = depends on the cough syrup

Annouschka (Jody Beth Rosen), Friday, 31 October 2003 03:13 (twenty-two years ago)

I didn't exactly get a cold or anything like everybody else. I'm quite, quite puzzled, in fact, about how I may have contracted this horribleness, but I'm not going to discuss it here.

TOMBOT, Friday, 31 October 2003 03:14 (twenty-two years ago)

I wasn't sick, but I feel a little achey today . . . You were that sick, Byron? I thought you were just trying to get our of our Sarah Lawrence appointment . . .

Mary (Mary), Friday, 31 October 2003 03:14 (twenty-two years ago)

There was going to be a cute third person along for the SLC appointment. Damn cold ruined it all.

bnw (bnw), Friday, 31 October 2003 03:19 (twenty-two years ago)

For once I am the nonsick person at the FAP. Go me go me it's my birthday!

Well ok this isn't entirely true maybe but that whole health horror seems to be clearing up, maybe I have received the REVERSE PLAGUE? "BAM this bear will take away yr need for dreadful biopsy experience! And give everyone horrible illnesses in the process YESSSS"

Actually it can't be the bear because Jackie isn't ill?

allyzay, Friday, 31 October 2003 03:21 (twenty-two years ago)

You didn't tell me about the troixieme . . . Appointment in SLC . . . Hey, does everyone remember that Tokyo R.'s voice was all scratchy . . . ?

Xpost: Ally, glad to heal you are feeling better!

Mary (Mary), Friday, 31 October 2003 03:23 (twenty-two years ago)

ANybody that drinks, like a WHOLE BOTTLE of NyQuil in one sitting is nuts and probably doing some damage to their liver. NyQUil contains acetaminophen and != Robitussin, which was what Bangs chugged right? Or I guess he liked "Romilar", but aren't they essentially the same? Maybe they were different. Was OTC codeine legal in the 70s? That could certainly explain it...

Mr. Diamond (diamond), Friday, 31 October 2003 04:27 (twenty-two years ago)

An' my belly is craving, I got shakin' in my head
I feel like I'm dyin' an' I wish I were dead
If I lived till tomorrow it's gonna be a long time
For I'll reel and I'll fall and rise on codine
An' it's real, an' it's real, one more time

When I was a young man I learned not to care
Wild whiskey, confronted I often did swear
My mother and father said whiskey is a curse
But the fate of their baby is many times worse
An' it's real, an' it's real, one more time

You'll forget your woman, you'll forget about man
Try it just once, an' you'll try it again
It's sometimes you wonder and it's sometimes you think
That I'm a-living my life with abandon to drink
An' it's real, an' it's real, one more time

Stay away from the cities, stay away from the towns
Stay away from the men pushin' the codine around
Stay away from the stores where the remedy is found
I will live a few days as a slave to codine
An' it's real, an' it's real, one more time

An' my belly is craving, I've got a shakin' in my head
An' I've started heating whether my body said
Steady yourself with the grains of cocaine
An' you'll end dead or you'll end up insane
An' it's real, an' it's real, one more time

An' my belly is craving, I got shaking in my head
I feel like I'm dyin' an' I wish I were dead
If I lived till tomorrow it's gonna be a long time
For I'll reel and I'll fall and rise on codine
An' it's real, an' it's real, one more time
An' it's real, an' it's real, one more time

Annouschka (Jody Beth Rosen), Friday, 31 October 2003 04:30 (twenty-two years ago)

Mea culpa. It was I, typhoid felicity. Sorry; I just couldn't stay away. :(

felicity (felicity), Friday, 31 October 2003 04:32 (twenty-two years ago)

I am not really sick, except for my sinus woes.

tokyo rosemary (rosemary), Friday, 31 October 2003 05:10 (twenty-two years ago)

i hate having to explain that

gabbneb (gabbneb), Friday, 31 October 2003 05:12 (twenty-two years ago)

jess--- dxm abuse is totally american. (dxm syrups are hard to get in europe even now, i think.) hip drug people were doing it way back in the early-60s, when they couldn't get cooler drugs. but in a tablet form made by romilar. the syrups would have been otc codeine or something, probably. or no major cough suppressants and just a bunch of the expectorants and stuff that are still in cough syrups. and then they started putting it in syrup in the 70s and it got mentioned in the anarchist's cookbook and punks and vietnam veterans all drank it. and then the vietnam veterans either stopped or became heroin addicts and other punks started using it. and it's been strong since then! it's really very important. there are coricidin scare stories in local newspapers all over america all the time. (you really shouldn't take coricidin!! you'll seriously die.)

the dxm subculture now is totally neat. like, the organized bit of it. not just the slipknot kids taking coricidin. it's like-- it's totally a nerdy drug for people who like tool! (slipknot vs. tool is like-- that's it.) i can't describe how it is. they talk about it the way people used to talk about ketamine. like, in the mid-90s. in those stupid douglas rushkoff books. they talk about drugs like douglas rushkoff. they talk about mind machines and stuff. and they see hallucinations of robots and tool videos. third plateau is a good one to look at. just check even the design. science!

dlk (d k), Friday, 31 October 2003 06:07 (twenty-two years ago)

certainly once after half a bottle of DM (that i was using mostly for an actual cough) i was on the way to seeing through time. not an altogether pleasant sensation

the surface noise (electricsound), Friday, 31 October 2003 06:10 (twenty-two years ago)

wow. now i'm glad that i had to leave after two drinks. plagues = no funl

lauren (laurenp), Friday, 31 October 2003 08:22 (twenty-two years ago)

The hell? I got sick, too, and right at the point when my ear infection cleared up.

Michael Daddino (epicharmus), Friday, 31 October 2003 09:07 (twenty-two years ago)

You poor loves! It was great to meet you all, I wish I had been a bit more awake, and could have stayed longer :0(

At least you didn't have the plague at the same time as your ear infection, that would have been horrific.

I'm amazed I didn't get ill, especially as I was a complete madwoman and did the open top bus tour on monday with only the freebie cape to protect me from the elements, and then went wandering around without a coat, and had to walk/run in the pouring rain from 57th and 5th all the way to 72nd and broadway, as no sodding taxi would stop to pick me up, bastards. My shoes were still wet when I got through the door at home on tuesday...

Vicky (Vicky), Friday, 31 October 2003 10:12 (twenty-two years ago)
