Oh my god Starbucks gingerbread lattes, I AM A WHORE FOR STARBUCKS, MMMMMMMMMM!!!

Curse those bastards for waylaying me outside the door with a sample. And I thought they never remembered me!

kate (kate), Friday, 31 October 2003 13:19 (twenty-two years ago)

I know that there is so much hate for Starbucks here, but OMIGOD, PINKPANTHER HAVE YOU TRIED THIS?!?!? Yum!

kate (kate), Friday, 31 October 2003 13:21 (twenty-two years ago)

You're making me want to go to Starbucks today, Kate. What's bad about this is that there's a Starbucks exactly halfway between school and work, and it's almost right along the same route I'd normally take anyway.

Hmmm. Starbucks for lunch: C/D?

Many Coloured Halo (Dee the Lurker), Friday, 31 October 2003 13:36 (twenty-two years ago)

We had a thread about Starbuck's supposed badness a long time ago, back in the day... I think the biggest complaint was that in places where there was a long established cafe culture, it was very negative. However, as it has BROUGHT coffee culture to London, which never had it before (outside of tiny pockets) that isn't so much of an issue.

They do make quite a big deal out of using Fair Trade products and things like that... a large corporation *responding* to the calls for fairness of its customers seems to be a good thing, and should be encouraged.

Anyway, my problem with Starbucks was always that its coffee wasn't very good, but this changes from country to country and the English Starbucks has improved.

Now my only problem is that they are expensive. That lovely yummy gingerbread latte was £2.50, which is ridiculous.

kate (kate), Friday, 31 October 2003 13:40 (twenty-two years ago)

Pumpkin Spice coffee does it for me...haaaaaaarrrrd.

Chris V. (Chris V), Friday, 31 October 2003 13:46 (twenty-two years ago)

OK, I'm not having it again, cause it contained WAY TOOO MUCH SUGAR and now I'm so hyper I feel like my teeth are chattering.

kate (kate), Friday, 31 October 2003 13:50 (twenty-two years ago)

Friday afternoon on a sugar high is surely better than Friday afternoon watching the clock till home time?

smee (smee), Friday, 31 October 2003 13:54 (twenty-two years ago)

wow that sound good Kate! I will see if they have them in the states!

teeny (teeny), Friday, 31 October 2003 13:57 (twenty-two years ago)

BUZZZ BUZZZZZ BUZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ

kate (kate), Friday, 31 October 2003 14:01 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm a fan of the caramel apple cider myself. With whipped cream.

Also does candy corn count? Because I'm scarfing it down today.

NA (Nick A.), Friday, 31 October 2003 14:07 (twenty-two years ago)

OHMIGOD LIKE I NEEDED TO BE ANY MORE WIRED, MY COLLEAGUE JUST GAVE ME A MERAINGUE (SP?) AND NOW I AM SO SUGARED UP I CAN HARDLY BREEEEEAAATH!

Candy corn, oh how I miss candy corn...

kate (kate), Friday, 31 October 2003 14:07 (twenty-two years ago)

I wanted the candy pumpkins that are like candy corn but bigger, but they were out, so I have to make do with the corn. But it's so sweet and good.

NA (Nick A.), Friday, 31 October 2003 14:08 (twenty-two years ago)

Reese's Pumpkin thingys 0wnz this thread!

Dale the Titled (cprek), Friday, 31 October 2003 14:10 (twenty-two years ago)

Nick have you pretended they are fangs yet? Come on, you know you did.

Chris V. (Chris V), Friday, 31 October 2003 14:10 (twenty-two years ago)

Kate, I had a raspberry mocha yesterday afternoon and almost passed out I was so wired. I'm a poof for caffeine, but.

Mark C (Mark C), Friday, 31 October 2003 14:11 (twenty-two years ago)

Haha I was going to mention Starbucks gingerbread lattes before I clicked on this thread. They are marvellous, and the only thing that will entice me into a Starbucks all year round.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Friday, 31 October 2003 14:13 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm a fan of the caramel apple cider myself. With whipped cream

I almost gagged when I read this!

chris (chris), Friday, 31 October 2003 14:19 (twenty-two years ago)

Also - the Pret Christmas sandwich with turkey and stuffing and cranberry sauce is a thing of beauty.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Friday, 31 October 2003 14:20 (twenty-two years ago)

I am usually pretty hardcore when it comes to caffeine, but this has really got my head spinning. OK, maybe I shouldn't have been totally hardcore and asked for the double shot. But usually Starbucks double cappucinos do nothing for me!

kate (kate), Friday, 31 October 2003 14:20 (twenty-two years ago)

Yes, gingerbread latte's. Are they back? Usually it's just christmas.

Other:

McDonalds Flurry: Jammie Dodger flavour. About a year (or two) ago. Nicer than Haagen daas. Miss'em.

mark grout (mark grout), Friday, 31 October 2003 14:25 (twenty-two years ago)

Christmas gets earlier every year. Usually it waits until after Halloween, but now it starts at the same time.

See also, those Kettle Chips in "port wine and stilton" flavour. Yummage!

kate (kate), Friday, 31 October 2003 14:30 (twenty-two years ago)

Seasonal? Check. Promotional? Check. Gimmicky? Check. Awesome? Check.

Nickalicious on the cremelicious money!

kate (kate), Friday, 31 October 2003 15:03 (twenty-two years ago)

Dunkin Donuts "Pumpkin Spice" donut. Its pretty badass.

Spinktor the Unmerciful (mawill5), Friday, 31 October 2003 15:04 (twenty-two years ago)

Christmas gets earlier every year. Usually it waits until after Halloween, but now it starts at the same time.

I swear to god a couple years ago I saw some Christmas stuff at Neiman Marcus...during Labor Day weekend (beginning of September).

Search: hot mulled apple cider
Destroy: caramel apple cider (Way too sweet for me. With cider, the balance between the sweet and the tart is a big part of the pleasure.)

j.lu (j.lu), Friday, 31 October 2003 15:11 (twenty-two years ago)

That creme egg looks suspicious, is it an amuurican one?

smee (smee), Friday, 31 October 2003 16:26 (twenty-two years ago)

Looks the same as a Canadian one so maybe they get them from here?

Bryan (Bryan), Friday, 31 October 2003 16:28 (twenty-two years ago)

I paid £3.35 for a sandwich at Starbucks last night, for which I had all the ingredients at home, and the whole lot would have come to about 10p. I still haven't quite got over it. But that's what happens when you're stranded in the rain and nothing else is open I suppose.

Archel (Archel), Friday, 31 October 2003 16:32 (twenty-two years ago)

I wouldn't get anything else at Starbucks, except for the coffee, cause it is horrendously overpriced.

(Except, maybe, for the stoopwaffles, because it's the only place outside the Netherlands that you can get them!)

kate (kate), Friday, 31 October 2003 16:33 (twenty-two years ago)

Cadbury's Caramel egg. uh-huh, uh-huh; oh yeah, oh yeah.

And gingerbread men. EATING PEOPLE IS WRONG!

Catty (Catty), Friday, 31 October 2003 16:48 (twenty-two years ago)

I think Starbucks is the only place in London where you can get a proper cinnamon roll, except for maybe Kellys food hall in Aldgate but they package them wrong and all the icing slides off.

Catty (Catty), Friday, 31 October 2003 16:49 (twenty-two years ago)

Wot will they call Cadbury's Caramel egg now that Cadbury's Caramel has changed to Dairy Milk with Caramel? "Cadbury's Dairy Milk Egg with Caramel" hardly rolls off the tongue!

smee (smee), Friday, 31 October 2003 16:50 (twenty-two years ago)

< heston>"Gingerbread men are PEOPLE! THEY'RE PEOPLE!< /heston>

NA (Nick A.), Friday, 31 October 2003 16:58 (twenty-two years ago)

Update time!

I'll have you folks know that I had a grande caffe mocha and a cinnamon chip scone from Starbucks for lunch today. Mmmmm. I'm thinking of repeating that on Monday. And yes, it is so not "holiday" fare, but hey, it was a holiday in my mouth when I consumed those goodies!

Many Coloured Halo (Dee the Lurker), Saturday, 1 November 2003 00:53 (twenty-two years ago)

Any 'Nucks remember the Maple Lattes at the Second Cup? Do they still have those?

ModJ (ModJ), Saturday, 1 November 2003 16:55 (twenty-two years ago)

lauren (laurenp), Saturday, 1 November 2003 17:05 (twenty-two years ago)

**cries**
I LOVE shamrock shakes!!!

Maple lattes sound yucky, but then there's too much friggin' maple in everything up here.

Bryan (Bryan), Saturday, 1 November 2003 17:10 (twenty-two years ago)
