fancy a mitch?

okay this is ultra-tentative, but i'm trying to figure out a way for me to be in london in december. and if my travel buddy can't convince his distant relatives to offer us free lodging, anybody willing to put up with me + friend for a day/week/you see where this is going? (explaining to the foax that i'm staying with 'internet people' is going to be very very difficult but you leave that up to me)(and i gotta reiterate: this is VERY up in the air. so don't buy the extra mattress just yet).

mitch lastnamewithheld (mitchlnw), Saturday, 1 November 2003 00:29 (twenty-one years ago)

obviously the reason no-one has replied yet is because it is late in the uk. that's it. when i wake up tomorrow things'll be different.

mitch lastnamewithheld (mitchlnw), Saturday, 1 November 2003 00:53 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm really trying to be good, despite this thread being called what it's called.

Casuistry (Chris P), Saturday, 1 November 2003 01:20 (twenty-one years ago)

mitch come to the us. we love you more.

strongo hulkington's ghost (dubplatestyle), Saturday, 1 November 2003 04:02 (twenty-one years ago)

It would be awesome to meet you, you gotta go through with this! If you're willing to spotlessly clean every surface you touch, however, my landlady STILL won't let you stay here.

Tracer Hand (tracerhand), Saturday, 1 November 2003 05:06 (twenty-one years ago)

i posted this thread while falling asleep at a university imac at 2am, i realize now even more than i did then that it's a ridiculous request (especially since there's another person involved, as if i wasnt enough of a 'stranger') but i guess i asked it cos i only half-believe that it's going to happen.

jess, if an american can fulfill these same conditions, i'll certinaly give it some serious thought.

mitch lastnamewithheld (mitchlnw), Saturday, 1 November 2003 08:45 (twenty-one years ago)

If it was next year, you could probably stay at my place. But, like I don't have a place yet...but I plan to by the spring.

jel -- (jel), Saturday, 1 November 2003 10:24 (twenty-one years ago)

how about we set up camp in the 'q' section of the library, jel? no-one ever looks there.

mitch lastnamewithheld (mitchlnw), Saturday, 1 November 2003 10:32 (twenty-one years ago)

mitch i think my place is too small for two extras for a week really (unless u and yr friend wanna be, uh, cosy) but at a total squeak if you find nowhere else?

also kinda depends WHEN in december - i won't be round xmas week eg

mark s (mark s), Saturday, 1 November 2003 10:39 (twenty-one years ago)

look forward to it mitch, you can school me on some ActionScript maybe. or perhaps even something fun.

stevem (blueski), Saturday, 1 November 2003 11:54 (twenty-one years ago)

possibly, mitch, do you have any ideas of dates?

charltonlido (gareth), Saturday, 1 November 2003 12:14 (twenty-one years ago)

mark: wow, thanks for even entertaining the possibility of stuffing two (admittedly slight) kids into yr place. it shouldn't come to that tho.

charlton: now i'm feeling kinda guilty that people are actually willing to consider this. uh, no real idea about dates, i'm guessing we'd wanna be there for new years, so probably mid-to-end december?

mitch lastnamewithheld (mitchlnw), Saturday, 1 November 2003 12:38 (twenty-one years ago)

ok, 12th to the 27th/28th is difficult, not really around. but from the 28-29th mightnt be a problem. im over in new york at the minute and wont be back in london till the 12th, so i cant check anything at the moment, but i am planning to be around for new year. when do you start having to make decisions?

charltonlido (gareth), Saturday, 1 November 2003 12:42 (twenty-one years ago)

i'm in the middle of final exams now, so the first chance i'll get to really start planning will be post-the 14th. this thread should've only come about then maybe, but i just wanted to explore my options yknow.

mitch lastnamewithheld (mitchlnw), Saturday, 1 November 2003 12:51 (twenty-one years ago)

I'd be delighted to accommodate you, Mitch, but I am slightly less easy about bringing in a complete stranger too. And I'm not sure what I'll be doing through the second half of December, but I suspect I will be away some of the time. Also, I don't have a date for moving house yet, so I can't be completely confident of having moved and unpacked completely by then. Maybe when this is revived I can be more definite.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Saturday, 1 November 2003 13:14 (twenty-one years ago)

oh you won't even notice my friend! when he isn't passed out from huffing wood varnish, he'll most likely be found quietly rearranging your shoes according to their tonal values.

mitch lastnamewithheld (mitchlnw), Saturday, 1 November 2003 13:21 (twenty-one years ago)

tonal sound or tonal hue?

how does he deal with two-tone shoes? (haha my mum always calls these "co-repondent's shoes" ie shoes worn by the guy that the adulterous wife has run off with! )

mark s (mark s), Saturday, 1 November 2003 13:57 (twenty-one years ago)

two-toners he cuts in half.

mitch lastnamewithheld (mitchlnw), Saturday, 1 November 2003 14:04 (twenty-one years ago)

I have white shoes and black shoes. Two pairs of each. I don't think they'll keep him interested for long.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Saturday, 1 November 2003 16:48 (twenty-one years ago)

two weeks pass...
reeee-vive! (for no good reason)

uhm, yes, still a horribly selfish request. i might end up doing one of those backpacker deals, if not too expensive. at the same time i'm trying to work out if nyc's still a possibility. and apparently i've got welcoming relatives in toronto. still don't know any dates. no earlier than early december tho.

mitch lastnamewithheld (mitchlnw), Sunday, 16 November 2003 20:33 (twenty-one years ago)

three weeks pass...
okay okay, everything's all worked out now and things have changed. this is now the "mitch visits ilx-land" (ie. nyc and london) thread. i'm leaving this saturday, the 13th, gonna be in london for half of the 14th, the whole of the 15th and a teeny bit of the 16th (don't plan to do much of anything during this time, it's just to break my flight really) and then, from 16 december to 11 jan, i'm gonna be in new york city! plus, from the 11th to the 20th, i'm back in london! so, like, y'all fancy a fap or three?

(ps. no accomodation is needed really, but if yr offering, there's a slight chance that me + friend might be in need of a place to sleep on the nights of the 17th, 18th and/or 19th, and in the last few days of the london trip, though i'm 99% sure that we're sorted for all of london, and can stay in youth hostels in nyc if my aquaintance gets back to me with a resounding 'no'.)

mitch lastnamewithheld (mitchlnw), Wednesday, 10 December 2003 21:57 (twenty-one years ago)

yes we must fap!!! look forward to meeting you Mitch.

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Wednesday, 10 December 2003 22:06 (twenty-one years ago)

also essential is making sure that enough time will have passed between today and whenever i meet anyone for the bad haircut i got today to grow out

mitch lastnamewithheld (mitchlnw), Wednesday, 10 December 2003 22:11 (twenty-one years ago)

i will see you in new york and london it seems!

charltonlido (gareth), Wednesday, 10 December 2003 22:15 (twenty-one years ago)

(Gareth, what are you doing that lets you go back and forth between London and New York so much and can you hook a brother up?)

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Wednesday, 10 December 2003 22:20 (twenty-one years ago)

he exports brown

mitch lastnamewithheld (mitchlnw), Wednesday, 10 December 2003 22:23 (twenty-one years ago)

i thought you said they loved me in america, jess..

btw all accomodation is now fully confirmed now so uh.. don't worry yr pretty heads none.

anyway, how might this intersect with the elvis telecom (and anthony miccio?) thing? and while i've still got 2 days and a cd burner here, anything anybody wanna trade for any of those cdr700s? i pretty much want all of them.

mitch lastnamewithheld (mitchlnw), Thursday, 11 December 2003 17:32 (twenty-one years ago)

OK so 14th or 15th for the MitchFAP?

Tico Tico (Tico Tico), Thursday, 11 December 2003 17:37 (twenty-one years ago)

15th suits me best cos I'll be off to see St Et on the 14th. Though a Sunday afternoon FAP on the 14th might have its attractions.

Tim (Tim), Thursday, 11 December 2003 18:11 (twenty-one years ago)

I'd quite like sunday afternoon too but it doesn't matter...any pub suggestions?

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Friday, 12 December 2003 09:44 (twenty-one years ago)

:( i am not in london on those days

i am exporting blue to shropshire

mark s (mark s), Friday, 12 December 2003 10:12 (twenty-one years ago)

I'd prefer the 15th having acquired a taste for Monday drinking, plus the wife and I have our christmas shopping to do on Sun.

Tico Tico (Tico Tico), Friday, 12 December 2003 10:14 (twenty-one years ago)

ok 15th as long as mitch is ok with it.

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Friday, 12 December 2003 10:39 (twenty-one years ago)

thanks for initiating talks, tom, the 15th sounds fine! i am seriously bummed that it will be sinkerless tho.

*cough cough*...new yorkers?

mitch lastnamewithheld (mitchlnw), Friday, 12 December 2003 11:35 (twenty-one years ago)

are people being put off by the subject line or the intro paragraph or is nyc all fapped-out or is my internet persona violently unmeetable or is this too soon or too late or is it an ilx timezone thing or what?

mitch lastnamewithheld (mitchlnw), Friday, 12 December 2003 11:53 (twenty-one years ago)

attention ppl who know what i like: are there any concerts and things that i might want to attend happening around these times? i'm missing a ludacris concert tonight so i demand compensation.

i ask these questions now cos i've no idea if i'll have internet access after saturday and don't wanna spend much time in net cafes.

mitch lastnamewithheld (mitchlnw), Friday, 12 December 2003 11:56 (twenty-one years ago)

maybe get the mods to change the thread heading to include 'London and NYC FAPS' (i think most new yorkers are still in bed at the time I'm posting this)?

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Friday, 12 December 2003 12:01 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm very excited about seeing St Etienne play on Sunday night but I'm not sure that that's your thing, Mitch.

Tim (Tim), Friday, 12 December 2003 12:02 (twenty-one years ago)

i quite like them, tim, but i've only heard about 4 songs. prob not worth it for a non-FAN, but thanks for the suggestion.

mitch lastnamewithheld (mitchlnw), Friday, 12 December 2003 12:15 (twenty-one years ago)

Well lets start a separate thread for the 15th.

Tico Tico (Tico Tico), Friday, 12 December 2003 12:24 (twenty-one years ago)

I was going to say St Etienne too, but Tim got there first. still it's worth saying twice, plus, it is at the Palladium!

chris (chris), Friday, 12 December 2003 12:54 (twenty-one years ago)

how about the 19th or the 20th for new york?

charltonlido (gareth), Friday, 12 December 2003 18:44 (twenty-one years ago)

that might be slightly problematic for me charlton, cos i'm moving between apartments on one of those days, but the 20th is the better of the two dates and will most probably be fine.

also: new york time BUMP! (by my miserable calculations it's about 5:50pm there now right?)

(and i know this is getting sad and desperate but it'd be kinda nice to have even the most tentative of dates for this before i leave, so maybe a moderator could add "(or, if not, how about an NYC FAP where mitch might show up?)" to the thread title if nothing happens with this in the next 9 hours or so while i'm sleeping)

mitch lastnamewithheld (mitchlnw), Friday, 12 December 2003 22:33 (twenty-one years ago)

"all the critics hate you in new york."

fiddo centington (dubplatestyle), Friday, 12 December 2003 22:35 (twenty-one years ago)

don't tell me sascha frere is still hurting over my "only built 4 atomic wedgies" prank in 94

and chuck: i maintain the break fluid thing was an accident

mitch lastnamewithheld (mitchlnw), Friday, 12 December 2003 22:42 (twenty-one years ago)

mitch lastnamewithheld (mitchlnw), Saturday, 13 December 2003 13:37 (twenty-one years ago)
