Dr. Drew is NOT dreamy.
-- Casuistry (chri...), November 3rd, 2003.

Allyzay, Monday, 3 November 2003 20:56 (twenty-one years ago)

Not even if he dumped caramel on his head. Ugh.

Nicolars (Nicole), Monday, 3 November 2003 21:02 (twenty-one years ago)

is there a dippier name?

s1utsky (slutsky), Monday, 3 November 2003 21:03 (twenty-one years ago)

I think he might be dreamy. Here's why:
- Smart people are hot. He seems pretty smart. Plus he wears glasses. Nice.
- There's a romantically tragic air around him because he has to hang out with that fuckhead Adam Carolla to get "cool points" or whatever.
- He knows a lot about sex.

NA (Nick A.), Monday, 3 November 2003 21:03 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm totally with you on this one, Ally.

NA (Nick A.), Monday, 3 November 2003 21:04 (twenty-one years ago)

The thing is, he totally seems into your problems, right. Unlike Adam Carolla who goes out and has a beer with Jimmy Kimmel and then comes back and makes fun of you and Dr. Drew and how emo you are and then'd just yell "HAHA enough of your problems, show me your tits!" and that's like so horrible. Dr. Drew would never do that to you!!

Allyzay, Monday, 3 November 2003 21:05 (twenty-one years ago)

Haha...this just makes me think of Loveline on KROQ. You people don't know.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 3 November 2003 21:06 (twenty-one years ago)

Totally Ally. I see where you're coming from.

NA (Nick A.), Monday, 3 November 2003 21:07 (twenty-one years ago)

Dr. Drew is a sensitive, romantic man.

Sarah McLUsky (coco), Monday, 3 November 2003 21:07 (twenty-one years ago)

Dr. Drew ruined Loveline by actually being responsible and helpful.

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Monday, 3 November 2003 21:07 (twenty-one years ago)

I think Adam Corolla's sole purpose in life is to be The Guy Who Put His Wang In Something Sketchy.

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Monday, 3 November 2003 21:07 (twenty-one years ago)

I should mention that I can't listen to Loveline because I get embarrassed too easily.

NA (Nick A.), Monday, 3 November 2003 21:08 (twenty-one years ago)

Dr. Drew seems like he would want to go see Love Actually, listens to Sting, and keeps his socks on during sex.

Nicolars (Nicole), Monday, 3 November 2003 21:09 (twenty-one years ago)

They're both tools, wtf?

nickalicious (nickalicious), Monday, 3 November 2003 21:09 (twenty-one years ago)

I love it when people call Loveline and make stuff up.

"Um, hi Adam, Doctor Drew... So, I was home alone the other day and decided to put a jar of mayonaisse in my ass, does that make me gay?"

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Monday, 3 November 2003 21:09 (twenty-one years ago)

But I think that anyone sitting next to Adam Carolla is going to look totally dreamy just by contrast. He is the buttugliest man in the world.

NA (Nick A.), Monday, 3 November 2003 21:10 (twenty-one years ago)

I love it when people call Loveline and make stuff up.
"Um, hi Adam, Doctor Drew... So, I was home alone the other day and decided to put a jar of mayonaisse in my ass, does that make me gay?"

You were the one who made that call, weren't you Dan?

Nicolars (Nicole), Monday, 3 November 2003 21:11 (twenty-one years ago)

Like he only made that one call.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 3 November 2003 21:11 (twenty-one years ago)

"Hi, welcome to Loveline, here are your hosts Adam Carolla and Oderous Arungus."

nickalicious (nickalicious), Monday, 3 November 2003 21:11 (twenty-one years ago)

If the doctor weren't so insistent with the "it's more dangerous than we all thought" business he'd be a lot dreamier ...

brian nemtusak (sanlazaro), Monday, 3 November 2003 21:13 (twenty-one years ago)

What's more dangerous than we all thought?

jaymc (jaymc), Monday, 3 November 2003 21:14 (twenty-one years ago)

Yeah but OTOH he seems to be awfully worried about how happy the woman is during all of his callers' made up sexual experiences.

Allyzay, Monday, 3 November 2003 21:15 (twenty-one years ago)

But Ally, don't you realize that most women don't actually have orgasms until they're at least 30?

jaymc (jaymc), Monday, 3 November 2003 21:16 (twenty-one years ago)

I thought it was like 45?

Allyzay, Monday, 3 November 2003 21:17 (twenty-one years ago)

I think you're right.

jaymc (jaymc), Monday, 3 November 2003 21:18 (twenty-one years ago)

Well, it depends on if the father's on the scene. "WHERE'S DAD?"

jaymc (jaymc), Monday, 3 November 2003 21:19 (twenty-one years ago)

"So how tall are you?"
"Um.. maybe.. 5'12"? Maybe a couple of centimeters off.."

Curt1s St3ph3ns, Monday, 3 November 2003 21:31 (twenty-one years ago)

What's more dangerous than we all thought?

C'mon, haven't you seen any of these wonderful commercials? Like the one where it takes those teenagers 4 tries to run over the kid on the bicycle, when if they hadn't been high, they'd have easily hit her the first time?

brian nemtusak (sanlazaro), Monday, 3 November 2003 21:38 (twenty-one years ago)

Yuk. I think he's a stealth chauvinist. Ew.

Kerry (dymaxia), Monday, 3 November 2003 22:26 (twenty-one years ago)

"stealth"

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Monday, 3 November 2003 22:27 (twenty-one years ago)

What do those commercials (and yes, they are idiotic) have to do with Dr. Drew? Am I being dense here?

JuliaA (j_bdules), Monday, 3 November 2003 22:31 (twenty-one years ago)

He seemed to ask every female caller who wanted to have sex for the fun of it (rather than "being in love/a relationship" or whatever) if she had been abused which was totally annoying.

tokyo rosemary (rosemary), Monday, 3 November 2003 22:32 (twenty-one years ago)

When Loveline used to be on MTV I thought Dr. Drew was totally boneable.

Mandee (Jerrynipper), Monday, 3 November 2003 22:34 (twenty-one years ago)

Did this show stop being incredibly homophobic?

Casuistry (Chris P), Monday, 3 November 2003 22:42 (twenty-one years ago)

JulieA: just saying Drew's a bit of an alarmist about the ol' pipeweed.

brian nemtusak (sanlazaro), Monday, 3 November 2003 22:42 (twenty-one years ago)

I rememberr Salt or Pepper (I can't remember which) called Drew a
"Real Man" when she was on the show. Surely her opinion counts for something?

N. Stigu, Monday, 3 November 2003 23:27 (twenty-one years ago)

Maybe it was Spindarella

Skottie, Monday, 3 November 2003 23:35 (twenty-one years ago)

Did this show stop being incredibly homophobic?

Since when has Doc Drew ever been homophobic? If it was, must have been when my radio blew up

Nichole Graham (Nichole Graham), Monday, 3 November 2003 23:36 (twenty-one years ago)

The hobophobia = long-standing Loveline belief that gays/lesbians are result of sexual trauma at young age.

Leee (Leee), Monday, 3 November 2003 23:38 (twenty-one years ago)

WTF? Really? Listened to him chat for years over many NYC bedtimes, and I never got that.

Nichole Graham (Nichole Graham), Monday, 3 November 2003 23:40 (twenty-one years ago)

But it's a long-standing Loveline belief that EVERYTHING is a result of sexual trauma at a young age.

jaymc (jaymc), Monday, 3 November 2003 23:53 (twenty-one years ago)

Result of programming being too well done, and lack of after-graduation debriefing, then.

Has he truly helped any of these callers, though? I don't remember any of them calling back to do a followup/

Nichole Graham (Nichole Graham), Monday, 3 November 2003 23:56 (twenty-one years ago)

They're often even arch about hitting on some such diagnosis before all (or most) of the symptoms have even been described ...

brian nemtusak (sanlazaro), Monday, 3 November 2003 23:57 (twenty-one years ago)

Yeah, they make a game of it -- put the caller on hold and then take bets as to who's right!

For some reason, this show still doesn't bother me that much.

jaymc (jaymc), Monday, 3 November 2003 23:58 (twenty-one years ago)

Prolly wanting to remain under that 60 second deadline. Makes me sure I wouldn't be spilling my innermost secrets over the airwaves....

Nichole Graham (Nichole Graham), Monday, 3 November 2003 23:59 (twenty-one years ago)

(I mean, it bothers me, but I still like it.)

jaymc (jaymc), Monday, 3 November 2003 23:59 (twenty-one years ago)

They might've tried clarify the stance by saying that those gay/lesbian callers tend to have wacked out lives as a result of trauma.

There have been followups in the past, though rare; I haven't listened since I was a soph in college.

Leee (Leee), Tuesday, 4 November 2003 00:04 (twenty-one years ago)

But Loveline is forever in my heart & clazzik solely b/c of the dog-sex episode.

Leee (Leee), Tuesday, 4 November 2003 00:05 (twenty-one years ago)

It has been a very long time since I've seen it, but yeah: Basically they seemed to think that gay sex was kinda icky and that it was automatically funny, and that you probably will want to talk with someone if you were having any of it, next caller please.

Casuistry (Chris P), Tuesday, 4 November 2003 00:45 (twenty-one years ago)

four years pass...

Oh Dr. Drew:

In an interview with The Times on Thursday, Pinsky defended the hospital while saying, "It's not my hospital," adding that it was a "bizarre misconception" that people associated him with Las Encinas.

When told he is the only physician with a photo on Las Encinas' website home page Thursday night, Pinsky said he was unaware of it. By this morning, Pinsky's photo vanished from the Las Encinas website.

Ned Raggett, Friday, 22 August 2008 22:50 (sixteen years ago)

Dr. Dr3w Dani3l, on the other hand: Yes.

Casuistry, Friday, 22 August 2008 22:58 (sixteen years ago)

Oh fuck. Thanks to this thread, I'm reminded of listening to THE POORMAN ON KROQ.

Mackro Mackro, Saturday, 23 August 2008 16:57 (sixteen years ago)

To give the Poorman credit, he was the guy who first started the Loveline thing on KROQ. Dr. Drew P. came on later, and then KROQ basically wrestled the Poorman away from the show, which was a hit, gave it to Adam Corolla but not before other people in between, and I have no idea what the Poorman is up to these days.

Mackro Mackro, Saturday, 23 August 2008 17:01 (sixteen years ago)

dr drew is a P.I.M.P.

cankles, Saturday, 23 August 2008 17:11 (sixteen years ago)

poorman was hawking his own low-rent 'girls gone wild' type videos last i heard of him but that was at least 5 years ago.

tremendoid, Saturday, 23 August 2008 17:49 (sixteen years ago)

The answer to the original question is that yes, Dr. Drew is totally dreamy and has been since Loveline.

ENBB, Saturday, 23 August 2008 22:59 (sixteen years ago)

nine months pass...

Guy in Jeopardy right now looks a lot like Dr. Drew which made me wonder if there was a DD thread. ^^ lol Guess I really luv Dr. Drew.

TAT THY SAD EAGLE (ENBB), Tuesday, 26 May 2009 23:46 (sixteen years ago)

sorry for butt rockin (Neanderthal), Tuesday, 10 March 2020 03:22 (five years ago)

I've always hated him. What's the occasion though?

sorry for butt rockin (Neanderthal), Tuesday, 10 March 2020 03:40 (five years ago)

I'm still angry at the fucker intervening with his 'diagnosis' of Hillary during the 2016 campaign, and now have already seen one friend spread this idiot's latest tirade. I hate him, I hate fucking Dr Oz, and although I respect his right to have a different opinion, my opinion is he should be run over by a bus.

sorry for butt rockin (Neanderthal), Tuesday, 10 March 2020 03:49 (five years ago)

Really tough call over which of the former Lovelines co-hosts is the bigger piece of shit.
