...aka an excuse for me & Cprek & Emilymv et al to go out drankin' again this weekend woohoo!

nickalicious (nickalicious), Monday, 3 November 2003 21:29 (twenty-one years ago)

So, howsabout Friday night kids?

nickalicious (nickalicious), Monday, 3 November 2003 21:29 (twenty-one years ago)

I wonder how far Lexington is from Richmond.

NA (Nick A.), Monday, 3 November 2003 21:47 (twenty-one years ago)

Wow, it's 8 hours, ALL OF WHICH is on Route 64. Crazy.

NA (Nick A.), Monday, 3 November 2003 21:49 (twenty-one years ago)

I second that wow, it's not even that far to Chicago (6 hours from here).

nickalicious (nickalicious), Monday, 3 November 2003 21:50 (twenty-one years ago)

Ah, Lexington. You kids are cute. :)

jaymc (jaymc), Monday, 3 November 2003 21:50 (twenty-one years ago)

We will eat your young.

Dale the Titled (cprek), Monday, 3 November 2003 21:53 (twenty-one years ago)

Are you hungry?
Are you sick?
Are you begging for a break?
Are you sweet?
Are you fresh?
Are you strung up by the wrists?
We want the young blood
Are you fracturing?
Are you torn at the seams?
Would you do anything?
Fleabitten motheaten?
We suck young blood
We suck young blood
Won't let the creeping ivy
Won't let the nervous bury me
Our veins are thin
Our rivers poisoned
We want the sweet meat
We want the young blood

nickalicious (nickalicious), Monday, 3 November 2003 21:54 (twenty-one years ago)

Maybe next time I go to Chicago I should go via Lexington. I would probably make up some time by not having to drive around DC.

NA (Nick A.), Monday, 3 November 2003 21:55 (twenty-one years ago)

Lexington is GAY! U R ALL GAY!

ihatelexington@lexingtonsucks.com, Monday, 3 November 2003 22:04 (twenty-one years ago)

You phear our booty poppin' zombies!

Dale the Titled (cprek), Monday, 3 November 2003 22:05 (twenty-one years ago)

U R ESPECIALLY GAY!

ihatelexington@lexingtonsucks.com, Monday, 3 November 2003 22:09 (twenty-one years ago)

I thought this was going to be a John Snow FAP on Lexington Street off Poland Street... sadly the John Snow is being redone and sports a false sammiche board with John SnoW1 on the outside. This is a suspicious sign.

Sarah (starry), Monday, 3 November 2003 22:26 (twenty-one years ago)

i lost a bet over the weekend because i thought that lexington was closer than 90 mins. to cincinnati.

gygax! (gygax!), Monday, 3 November 2003 22:30 (twenty-one years ago)

!?!

It takes me 55-70 minutes to get from my home to the front door of Bogarts in Cincy.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Monday, 3 November 2003 22:31 (twenty-one years ago)

are you yahoo driving directions?

gygax! (gygax!), Monday, 3 November 2003 22:32 (twenty-one years ago)

ha ha no I'm gunning it up I-75 at 100 mph smokin' cheebah.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Monday, 3 November 2003 22:39 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh yeah, so I'm gonna suggest Busters cuz it's just lame enough. Who's playing at the Dame this wknd?

nickalicious (nickalicious), Monday, 3 November 2003 22:39 (twenty-one years ago)

christ nickalicious, you must be a speeding machine since mapquest says it would take me 5 hours to get to lexington and i am a full 2 hours south of chicago, at least

todd swiss (eliti), Monday, 3 November 2003 22:44 (twenty-one years ago)

never trust Yahoo! for driving directions, gygax!

hstencil, Monday, 3 November 2003 22:47 (twenty-one years ago)

what is the general speed on the open road in the US, not the limit but what speed can you go in light traffic if you're careful about cops and cameras etc.

Ed (dali), Monday, 3 November 2003 22:49 (twenty-one years ago)

I was leaving the cruise control at 150 km/h for large sections of my drive to NY, especially through Minnesota, Wisconsin (on the way there - I went slower on the way back because I was pulled over but didn't get a ticket) and Indiana.

Bryan (Bryan), Monday, 3 November 2003 22:51 (twenty-one years ago)

I try not to go above 80 MPH.

hstencil, Monday, 3 November 2003 22:54 (twenty-one years ago)

Last night I got from NYC to Columbia, MD, which is a bit south of Baltimore, in 2.5 hours*. The general speed you can go on the open road in the US with light traffic? I would say 110mph. However it seems most people would be more comfortable with 75mph, which is usually the speed of traffic when I go to and from work (I beat the rush by about an hour most days).

*stopped for gas on the turnpike, too. I haven't tripmetered the drive yet but I'm thinking about 210 miles or so?

TOMBOT, Monday, 3 November 2003 22:55 (twenty-one years ago)

You can make Cinci from Lex flowing with traffic under 90 minutes, provided you don't get slowed in traffic around Newport to the river or a wreck.

If you go the speed limit on Interstate 75 heading north or south to/from Cinci, you will get run down by a longhaul trucker. Outside of a maybe 10-20 mile section in the middle, it is pretty much four lanes the entire way. It isn't 90/94 Chicago busy, but this interstate gets pretty packed with big rigs and traffic, especially considering most of it is in the middle of nowhere. It is the main route to Atlanta and Florida in the middle of the country.

earlnash, Tuesday, 4 November 2003 00:56 (twenty-one years ago)

i appreciate all of your good-natured defense, but basically it comes down to a wager between two friends...

him: "cincinatti to lexington? that's an hour and a half?"
he: "know way, half-hour, 45 minutes TOPS"

i am wrong. i owe a beer (or two), no big deal.

gygax! (gygax!), Tuesday, 4 November 2003 01:05 (twenty-one years ago)

it has NEVER taken me more than one hour and 17 minutes to get to cincinatti, and i am not a speedy driver. nickalicious, the microfap sounds great. i will bring my lovely roomates who have been lurking on ilx lately.

Emilymv (Emilymv), Tuesday, 4 November 2003 02:12 (twenty-one years ago)

My favorite highways to completely and flagrantly break the law on, speedlimit-wise:

1. 95 & the turnpike (esp. southbound)
2. 75 (esp. northbound)
3. 5 (either way)
4. 10 (only driven westbound, still a nice drive, and flat as can be)

TOMBOT, Tuesday, 4 November 2003 02:34 (twenty-one years ago)

The important question: Will there be micro-cock at the micro-FAP?

jaymc (jaymc), Tuesday, 4 November 2003 02:51 (twenty-one years ago)

i personally have not compiled any data with which to answer that question on any lexington ilxor.

Emilymv (Emilymv), Tuesday, 4 November 2003 04:24 (twenty-one years ago)

Dammit all, I've been to Lexington three times now, all of which were before coming to ILX. All of those times, oddly, on business...though that hasn't happened in a bit. Maybe I should lobby for another trip soon.

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Tuesday, 4 November 2003 04:37 (twenty-one years ago)

you should come and visit soon. things have been improving lately in lexington, at least in the music department. we have a pretty good new venue and have been host to lots of great shows lately. it is a nice change of pace not to have to drive to louisville or cincinatti constantly. when were you last here, sean?

Emilymv (Emilymv), Tuesday, 4 November 2003 04:50 (twenty-one years ago)

I think the last time was in 2001. We got taken to this restaurant inside an old school house, and I had ostrich. Yummy.

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Tuesday, 4 November 2003 05:10 (twenty-one years ago)

how long would it take me from worcester i wonder. probably a week.

Chris V. (Chris V), Tuesday, 4 November 2003 12:50 (twenty-one years ago)

14 hours.

Chris V. (Chris V), Tuesday, 4 November 2003 12:52 (twenty-one years ago)

8 if you speed.

Dale the Titled (cprek), Tuesday, 4 November 2003 13:05 (twenty-one years ago)

We'll need to do liquor before Buster's. I'm envisioning a bourbon endurance challenge.

And if anyone nearby is thinking of coming up, I'll go ahead and offer to put them up.

Dale the Titled (cprek), Tuesday, 4 November 2003 13:11 (twenty-one years ago)

ha ha bourbon endurance challenge sounds like it could be a CKY/Jackass skit

nickalicious (nickalicious), Tuesday, 4 November 2003 14:10 (twenty-one years ago)

Welcome to my life.

Dale the Titled (cprek), Tuesday, 4 November 2003 15:25 (twenty-one years ago)

Is there any place downtown with karaoke?

nickalicious (nickalicious), Tuesday, 4 November 2003 18:08 (twenty-one years ago)

he he. karaoke. um, mia's has it sometimes on mondays. i think that lameo A1A has it on a weeknight too. nowhere that i know of on friday.

we could do melodeon before buster's for the bourbon endurance challenge, but can i participate with martinis? or jaeggermeister?

Emilymv (Emilymv), Tuesday, 4 November 2003 21:25 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm trying to remember who I know that calls it "Gay1A". God I hate that place.

Chuck Yeagermeister es buena.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Tuesday, 4 November 2003 21:29 (twenty-one years ago)

nick, nancy's band Starboxer played a show there once about 2 years ago. all i can say about that is that a wet tshirt contest was happening in the next room during their set. horrific!!!!!

Emilymv (Emilymv), Tuesday, 4 November 2003 21:31 (twenty-one years ago)

Nick, are you meeting me after work today?

Dale the Titled (cprek), Tuesday, 4 November 2003 21:32 (twenty-one years ago)

My band played there during a wet T-shirt contest night, it was sooo weird. Playing there was always weird cuz they crank the lamest dance music evah in the next room so loud that the band can hear it over the music they're playing while performing, ugh.

Does Nancy's band still play together?

Cprek - fo shizzle!

nickalicious (nickalicious), Tuesday, 4 November 2003 21:34 (twenty-one years ago)

are you guys going to common grounds? can i come?

starboxer is still together, i think they will be playing at the dame soon.

Emilymv (Emilymv), Tuesday, 4 November 2003 21:58 (twenty-one years ago)

Emily of course you can come to Common Grounds! Oh wait you already did and we already met you there last night d'oh!

What should I wear to this thing? I'm not doing shirt ninja again.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Wednesday, 5 November 2003 18:00 (twenty-one years ago)

This is tomorrow y'all. Where did we decide to meet for pre-shenanigens shenanigens? Or did we not make any definitive pre-shenanigens shenanigens arrangements at all?

"I swear to God I'm gonna pistol-whip the next one of you who says 'shenanigens'."

nickalicious (nickalicious), Thursday, 6 November 2003 20:14 (twenty-one years ago)

i think we should meet for cocktails before we go to buster's. after that, hilarity will ensue. i think we should forego the karaoke.

Emilymv (Emilymv), Thursday, 6 November 2003 20:44 (twenty-one years ago)

Yeah karaoke is SOO not fun actually, what the shit was I thinking? It doesn't matter cuz like every waking moment of my life is karaoke anyway.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Thursday, 6 November 2003 20:48 (twenty-one years ago)

btw, yesterday it was determined:

me == jerry
emilymv == george
nickalicious == kramer

Dale the Titled (cprek), Thursday, 6 November 2003 20:53 (twenty-one years ago)

ok guys, what time? i just recovered from last night's nancy birthday extravaganza, and i am ready to roll!

Emilymv (Emilymv), Friday, 7 November 2003 22:11 (twenty-one years ago)

muwahaha....*lurk

fudge, Friday, 7 November 2003 23:15 (twenty-one years ago)

For realz yo when? where? My phone gots turned off on account of not paying 'em, d'oh! I think it might come back on soon though...

WTF why am I always the Kramer!?!

Oooh, I have an idea...

nickalicious (nickalicious), Friday, 7 November 2003 23:20 (twenty-one years ago)

...and to no avail. :(

nickalicious (nickalicious), Friday, 7 November 2003 23:23 (twenty-one years ago)

fudge! what is up? are you going to have drinks with us tonight?
JAMIROQUAI!

Emilymv (Emilymv), Friday, 7 November 2003 23:58 (twenty-one years ago)

ha ha ha ha ha ha

fudge is cool. oh my god handcuffs! "where the hell is everyone?". wtf a xylophone? I always end up with headwounds, god damnit. "That fucker had the key the whole time!". Who the hell was it that took those pictures, Bobbi? ha ha ha "FAAP! AAAAAHAAAAAH! IT'LL SAVE EVERY ONE OF US!". "Hey, fap you buddy." "FAP!" = "GEEEE IIIII JOOOOOOOE!". Drunken theremin-ing. Why did it take Cprek so long to kick us out? I should've slept more than 3 hours ugh.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Saturday, 8 November 2003 17:08 (twenty-one years ago)

just for the record, i now have handcuff hickies on my right wrist. it looks like my wrist was strangled by a python. also, does anyone remember what i did with cprek's belt? i can't find it. was i still wearing it when we left easybeard's warehouse? i think that we formed the best impromtu band ever. sammy and i are the best conjoined drummer in the world!!!!!!!!!!

Emilymv (Emilymv), Saturday, 8 November 2003 22:13 (twenty-one years ago)

you guys are making this up.

teeny (teeny), Saturday, 8 November 2003 23:58 (twenty-one years ago)

I really wish that was so.

I don't remember any exchange of belts, wtf? I don't remember how to pronounce that one girl's name..."boo-sheet-sah"? I don't remember which one of those guys was "easybeard". I do remember Emily totally making out with one of those guys though ha ha.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Sunday, 9 November 2003 20:34 (twenty-one years ago)

the new millinium is for wussies....fap-core in da hizzie.

wurd

fudge, Sunday, 9 November 2003 22:55 (twenty-one years ago)

nick! that was not Easybeard that i made out with. it was clark/grant, the one who looks like abe lincoln. yeah, my roommate did not appreciate being handcuffed to me when that happened. michie is her name, pronounce mi-chee-aye.

Emilymv (Emilymv), Monday, 10 November 2003 04:12 (twenty-one years ago)

ha ha wow super-d'oh! I was SOO not even close ALL NIGHT LONG, Michie must totally hate me.

And when that whole you-making-out-who-the-fuck-ever handcuffed grind-train ridiculosity was going on I thought S4mm1 of all people'd be like "HUZZA" but she looked more like "ugh UNCUFF UNCUFF!". I wasn't sure then though cuz that was right after dude's bathroom door-frame smacked me in the top of the head and made me bleed.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Monday, 10 November 2003 14:02 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh God. Craziest weekend evah.
Emily I want my belt back.
You ladies never asked if I had the key.
The girls name was Michiee, "Me-chee-ay"

The most hilarious thing was when there was the warehouse booty dance party and Emily is totally making out with Easybeard, and Sammy is just handcuffed to her looking bored. Funniest expression ever.

I thought my megaphone Jon Spencer impersonation was spot on.
All the fun I had Friday was paid for Saturday night when I was strangled in a domestic dispute. :-(

Still... FAP!!!

Dale the Titled (cprek), Monday, 10 November 2003 15:07 (twenty-one years ago)

It took enormous will-power on my part to not steal that megaphone.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Monday, 10 November 2003 15:41 (twenty-one years ago)

Woah, I thought you meant strangled like a metaphor or something, but you really got strangled huh? Wow.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Tuesday, 11 November 2003 08:33 (twenty-one years ago)

three months pass...
REVIVE cuz I haven't talked to you guys all week wtf is happening tomorrow night? My boy Micah Logsdon is in from NYC and a good time he must be shown!

nickalicious (nickalicious), Thursday, 19 February 2004 17:02 (twenty-one years ago)

I think I know who ihatelexington@lexingtonsucks is.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Thursday, 19 February 2004 17:07 (twenty-one years ago)

I saw Micah this afternoon. He gave me the 'I'm moving to Prague' routine. WTF? I'll be damned if I spend my weekend hanging out with playwrights.

Dale the Titled (cprek), Thursday, 19 February 2004 18:47 (twenty-one years ago)

ha ha fine then A FAP DIVIDED IT WILL BE

nickalicious (nickalicious), Thursday, 19 February 2004 18:49 (twenty-one years ago)

fine. You can have your playwrights and fish tacos! We'll drink elsewhere.

Dale the Titled (cprek), Thursday, 19 February 2004 18:53 (twenty-one years ago)

Lame.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Thursday, 19 February 2004 19:08 (twenty-one years ago)

DOOD. come on im joking.

Dale the Titled (cprek), Thursday, 19 February 2004 19:17 (twenty-one years ago)

dooooooooooood okay you're back in the will (i know dawg)

nickalicious (nickalicious), Thursday, 19 February 2004 19:22 (twenty-one years ago)

(okay actually for a second there i wasn't sure)

nickalicious (nickalicious), Thursday, 19 February 2004 19:22 (twenty-one years ago)

i have to work tommorrow night! and probably til close, since yuka is in osaka for a few weeks. so i will be stuck behind the bar all night, you guys should come and see me! i will be drowning my misery in shots while i hand out drinks to frat boys.

Emilymv (Emilymv), Thursday, 19 February 2004 20:53 (twenty-one years ago)

also, carla is coming here from louisville either tonight or tommorrow. so expect some excitement!

Emilymv (Emilymv), Thursday, 19 February 2004 20:55 (twenty-one years ago)

Ew, High on Rose's website says Orange Whip is gonna be playing that night, ugh. I'm sorry Emily but I don't know if I can endure any of that particularly bland jam band's tomfoolery clogging up my earhole, even if you are dispensing the libations. That sucks you have to work til close!

Did I ever tell you I find Yuka somewhat hawt?

nickalicious (nickalicious), Thursday, 19 February 2004 21:16 (twenty-one years ago)

Nick irritated by jam band SHOCKAH.

Dale the Titled (cprek), Thursday, 19 February 2004 21:54 (twenty-one years ago)

ten months pass...
You know, we kinda had one of these last night. For a second there, we were all standing in the same place and stuff, OMG.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Thursday, 30 December 2004 14:45 (twenty years ago)

For a second I thought this thread started this past November and I was all "Er, should Emily be drinking with a kid around the corner?"

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 30 December 2004 14:49 (twenty years ago)

it is very strange being out at a show and sober. wierdest part was being able to smell the alcohol as soon as i walked into the bar. as if they had hosed the place down with bourbon. i guess after the baby is born and i go out the first time, i will be tanked from drinking 2 beers.

Emilymv (Emilymv), Thursday, 30 December 2004 15:50 (twenty years ago)

For a second I thought this thread started this past November and I was all "Er, should Emily be drinking with a kid around the corner?"

well it'd be inappropriate to take the kid into the bar.

ken c (ken c), Thursday, 30 December 2004 15:53 (twenty years ago)

oh wait now i see what you mean about around the corner.

ken c (ken c), Thursday, 30 December 2004 15:54 (twenty years ago)

We should do this again, since I wasn't around to participate in the last one. (Unless you count last night.) Especially since Emily will be mad busy with the little 'un soon. Emily, I liked your socks last night!

sugarpants (sugarpants), Friday, 31 December 2004 01:39 (twenty years ago)

wow, what, emily's having a baby? Congrats! I've been so out of it.

hstencil (hstencil), Friday, 31 December 2004 02:34 (twenty years ago)

one year passes...
Dude, cprek -- there's no body of water contiguous to Las Vegas. Lake Las Vegas is officially in Henderson. Las Vegas = twice the population of Lexington.

jaymc (jaymc), Tuesday, 23 May 2006 17:33 (nineteen years ago)

he said adjacent

gabbneb (gabbneb), Tuesday, 23 May 2006 17:48 (nineteen years ago)

Same thing.

Anyway, I took this to mean the city has no natural bodies of water next to OR within it. Because I mean, yes, New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Philadelphia, San Diego, San Jose, Detroit, etc -- all do bump up against a natural body of water. But there are tons of major cities that don't do that, so I figured, well, maybe we're also counting cities that have rivers or lakes within them, cities like Houston, Phoenix, San Antonio, Dallas, Jacksonville, Indianapolis, etc.

And the more I looked, I thought, by gum maybe he's right about Lexington -- nearly every place has at least some body of water within the city limits. Until I got to Las Vegas, that is.

jaymc (jaymc), Tuesday, 23 May 2006 17:55 (nineteen years ago)

Henderson is part of the Las Vegas MSA

gabbneb (gabbneb), Tuesday, 23 May 2006 18:02 (nineteen years ago)

Well, sure. But cprek said "city" not "MSA."

jaymc (jaymc), Tuesday, 23 May 2006 18:05 (nineteen years ago)

You think all bodies of water are visible from the ground surface?

Pleasant Plains /// (Pleasant Plains ///), Tuesday, 23 May 2006 18:05 (nineteen years ago)

I see your point, but I'm afraid you'll have to file your complaint with the US Census Bureau because I have no authority on the matter.
