I'm tour managing seminal French punk/new wave legends Metal Urbain on a short week of shows. If ILXors can come out to any of the following dates, it'd be cool to hang out:

November 5th - New York, NY - Niagara – LISTENING PARTY
November 6th - New York, NY - Southpaw with Oneida, Mazing Vids, and DJ Jim Thirwell
November 7th - New York, NY - Mighty Robot with Sightings and Midnight O'Connor (feat. members of Twisted Ones, Oneida, Broke Review and Sacchromanic Targets)
November 8th - New York, NY - Tonic with Rah Bras, Ghost Exits, and DJ Barry 7
also playing at 4 in the afternoon at the WFMU record fair!
November 9th - DAY OFF
November 10th - Montreal, QC - Sala Rossa
November 11th - Toronto, ON - Lee's Palace
November 12th – DAY OFF
November 13th - Chicago, IL - Bottom Lounge

would really appreciate meeting Montreal and Toronto ILXors as I've never been to those cities!

I would like to meet (and have beers with) Sean Carruthers and s1utsky! And any other Canadian ILXors in those cities!

hstencil, Tuesday, 4 November 2003 00:10 (twenty-one years ago)

too bad you're not going to be at the 11/15 show. they don't sell beer there though, either.

Dean Gulberry (deangulberry), Tuesday, 4 November 2003 00:11 (twenty-one years ago)

there is no 11/15 show.

hstencil, Tuesday, 4 November 2003 00:12 (twenty-one years ago)

Saturday November 15th:

Books on Tape
Parts and Labor (NYC)
Metal Urbain (France)
Tyondia Braxton
Qui

plus light and noise between sets by Expo 70

Dean Gulberry (deangulberry), Tuesday, 4 November 2003 00:14 (twenty-one years ago)

they booked at the smell in los angeles. maybe you know something the smell doesn't.

Dean Gulberry (deangulberry), Tuesday, 4 November 2003 00:14 (twenty-one years ago)

Metal Urbain is not playing.

hstencil, Tuesday, 4 November 2003 00:15 (twenty-one years ago)

sweet.

Dean Gulberry (deangulberry), Tuesday, 4 November 2003 00:16 (twenty-one years ago)

yeah thanks.

hstencil, Tuesday, 4 November 2003 00:18 (twenty-one years ago)

Ah, the Smell.

Is it normal to play that many shows in the same city? Even if it's New York?

Casuistry (Chris P), Tuesday, 4 November 2003 00:20 (twenty-one years ago)

Congrats, Stence, dude! (So glad this worked out for you, BTW) You'll have Thirlwell? He's an experience live....

Nichole Graham (Nichole Graham), Tuesday, 4 November 2003 00:23 (twenty-one years ago)

um he's just djing, and I have no idea (considering how little I actually know about this tour so far) whether he's still on the bill.

It might be nice for someone (not me) to inform the Smell that Metal Urbain aren't playing.

hstencil, Tuesday, 4 November 2003 00:30 (twenty-one years ago)

yeah, the Southpaw site just has Metal Urbain, no guest acts listed. So who knows?

hstencil, Tuesday, 4 November 2003 00:36 (twenty-one years ago)

hstencil maybe the tour manager should tell the Smell??

Tracer Hand (tracerhand), Tuesday, 4 November 2003 00:41 (twenty-one years ago)

The Smell in not being entirely clear on who is playing when SHOCKAH!

Casuistry (Chris P), Tuesday, 4 November 2003 00:41 (twenty-one years ago)

if that's the case, i'm going to perform as Metal Urbain.

Dean Gulberry (deangulberry), Tuesday, 4 November 2003 00:44 (twenty-one years ago)

I say go for it.

Casuistry (Chris P), Tuesday, 4 November 2003 00:45 (twenty-one years ago)

Dean is the new, cost effective Madonna;>

Nichole Graham (Nichole Graham), Tuesday, 4 November 2003 00:46 (twenty-one years ago)

my metal urbain is going to be tetsuo-meets-lionel richie.

Dean Gulberry (deangulberry), Tuesday, 4 November 2003 00:57 (twenty-one years ago)

I'll see you and Erik Debris et Claude Panic and the drum machine and whoever else at Southpaw. Metal Urbain, who would've thunk it.

Benjamin (benjamin), Tuesday, 4 November 2003 00:59 (twenty-one years ago)

my metal urbain is going to be tetsuo-meets-lionel richie.

You'll have to do a ridiculous French accent. "Allo. eez eat mee you're loookeeng for..."

Benjamin (benjamin), Tuesday, 4 November 2003 01:00 (twenty-one years ago)

"cuz I GROW METAL THRU FACE hahahahaha oh la la"

Tracer Hand (tracerhand), Tuesday, 4 November 2003 01:28 (twenty-one years ago)

stencil I'm sure you have a good reason not to let them knowm it just sounds mysterious to me!

Tracer Hand (tracerhand), Tuesday, 4 November 2003 01:29 (twenty-one years ago)

Any Southern California venue in not getting quite the crucial parts of a line-up correct until it's too late shocker.

donut bitch (donut), Tuesday, 4 November 2003 01:31 (twenty-one years ago)

i can help you hook up a show in Ann Arbor if you need it...

Kingfish (Kingfish), Tuesday, 4 November 2003 01:33 (twenty-one years ago)

Come to England, you fool!

kate (kate), Tuesday, 4 November 2003 09:01 (twenty-one years ago)

books on tape! i would go to that

charltonlido (gareth), Tuesday, 4 November 2003 14:13 (twenty-one years ago)

tracer, it's not my job to do what the (so far, seemingly weird and perhaps even unreliable) booking agent does. Although I might have to take some matters into my own hands. Hey Kingfish, do you think you might be able to set something up for the 12th? Ann Arbor's basically between Toronto and Chicago, right? (See Tracer I'm not a booking agent, don't know much about routing, etc.)

hstencil, Tuesday, 4 November 2003 16:46 (twenty-one years ago)

Who were you hoping to rout?

Tim (Tim), Tuesday, 4 November 2003 16:49 (twenty-one years ago)

"routing" is picking the best route available for a tour to follow, based on (potentially) places you can book your band at (if you know, you do that thing).

hstencil, Tuesday, 4 November 2003 16:56 (twenty-one years ago)

I see. I was thinking perhaps there was a medieval army or two you were hoping to rout with a European sonic assault.

Tim (Tim), Tuesday, 4 November 2003 17:26 (twenty-one years ago)

I'll leave that to the guys in the band. I just count the money, drive the van, etc.

hstencil, Tuesday, 4 November 2003 17:30 (twenty-one years ago)

Aha, gotcha

Tracer Hand (tracerhand), Tuesday, 4 November 2003 17:41 (twenty-one years ago)

I mean if I was getting 10% of their show earnings, you could damn well bet they'd be playing L.A. and every fucking place in between. I don't understand the laissez-faire attitude of some booking agents - their bands playing shows are how they make money!

hstencil, Tuesday, 4 November 2003 17:47 (twenty-one years ago)

Does anyone know what's happening with the Pittburgh date on the 12th?

Follow the link to see the confusion over this.

Dave Kuzy, Monday, 10 November 2003 19:47 (twenty-one years ago)

Is this still happening in Pittsburgh????????

BORING, Monday, 10 November 2003 19:48 (twenty-one years ago)

probably not. And I'm not going on the tour now.

hstencil, Monday, 10 November 2003 19:49 (twenty-one years ago)

maybe they'll play the smell now.

Dean Gulberry (deangulberry), Monday, 10 November 2003 19:49 (twenty-one years ago)

hahahaha, probably not!

hstencil, Monday, 10 November 2003 19:51 (twenty-one years ago)

thats fortunate.
