There should be a special number, like 911, to call in cases of horribly, disfiguringly unsuccessful art installations.

Skottie, Wednesday, 5 November 2003 07:50 (twenty-one years ago)

yeah but they'd get tired from all the calls about Jeff Koons.

hstencil, Wednesday, 5 November 2003 07:55 (twenty-one years ago)

Maybe the number should just be Jeff Koons' telephone number. Or Damien Hirst's. Dial 1-800-KITSCH to report failed art. Karen Findley is standing by.

Skottie, Wednesday, 5 November 2003 07:58 (twenty-one years ago)

adam, is this up now? i live 1.5 blocks from there but i never get to walk around anymore so i've missed it. weird. what's it trying to say? is it one of those anti-cigarette campaigns?

JasonD (JasonD), Wednesday, 5 November 2003 08:37 (twenty-one years ago)

Oooh, you must live somewhere cool-Soma? It's an installation as part of ten comissioned works for the Center's 10th anniversary. I was trawling around downtown today, so I just took a couple of snaps. The back of it has a load of tvs and sound FX and noise and smoke in it.

HI DERE

Amazing Randy (Amazing Randy), Wednesday, 5 November 2003 10:15 (twenty-one years ago)

Do you have something more to say?

Tuomas (Tuomas), Wednesday, 5 November 2003 10:17 (twenty-one years ago)

adam, i do live in SOMA, 4th & Harrison to be exact in the soon to be Whole Foods building.

JasonD (JasonD), Wednesday, 5 November 2003 17:36 (twenty-one years ago)

Yuerba Buena Truck

this is such a cool combination of words...

Kingfish (Kingfish), Wednesday, 5 November 2003 17:38 (twenty-one years ago)

Are those Whole Foods nazis kicking you out, Jason? The bastards!!!

@d@ml (nordicskilla), Wednesday, 5 November 2003 17:43 (twenty-one years ago)

yerba buena can be really pitiful sometimes.

Dean Gulberry (deangulberry), Wednesday, 5 November 2003 17:44 (twenty-one years ago)

I like it.

@d@ml (nordicskilla), Wednesday, 5 November 2003 17:44 (twenty-one years ago)

But the art was kind of sucky.

@d@ml (nordicskilla), Wednesday, 5 November 2003 17:45 (twenty-one years ago)

It would be better if it really was an accident, and the art was the sign, not the truck.

Marcel Post (Marcel Post), Wednesday, 5 November 2003 17:46 (twenty-one years ago)

i meant the art, yes. and plus back a few years ago when sfmoma had that really great director (i forget his name) there was never any excuse to go to yerba buena. none. i would walk right past it into the metreon and hand out money.

Dean Gulberry (deangulberry), Wednesday, 5 November 2003 17:49 (twenty-one years ago)

Dude, the Metreon has video games in it! And god help me, I might be working in there for a while...

@d@ml (nordicskilla), Wednesday, 5 November 2003 17:51 (twenty-one years ago)

...maybe...

@d@ml (nordicskilla), Wednesday, 5 November 2003 17:51 (twenty-one years ago)

i will visit you on trilogy tuesday.

gygax! (gygax!), Wednesday, 5 November 2003 17:52 (twenty-one years ago)

Bring bread and water.

@d@ml (nordicskilla), Wednesday, 5 November 2003 17:56 (twenty-one years ago)

for me or you?

gygax! (gygax!), Wednesday, 5 November 2003 18:11 (twenty-one years ago)

:)

Well, if you're going to just stand there and watch...

@d@ml (nordicskilla), Wednesday, 5 November 2003 18:14 (twenty-one years ago)

what are you wearing?

gygax! (gygax!), Wednesday, 5 November 2003 18:15 (twenty-one years ago)

are you going to work in the where the wild things are playarea?

Dean Gulberry (deangulberry), Wednesday, 5 November 2003 18:16 (twenty-one years ago)

There's a where the wild things are playarea? Or is that just your name for the videogame room?

@d@ml (nordicskilla), Wednesday, 5 November 2003 18:17 (twenty-one years ago)

i can vouch for it having been there like more than a year ago. it was at the tippy top. i never went inside, as i am enough wild thing for myself to handle.

Dean Gulberry (deangulberry), Wednesday, 5 November 2003 18:18 (twenty-one years ago)

Dean Gulberry (deangulberry), Wednesday, 5 November 2003 18:19 (twenty-one years ago)

God, the Metreon is just totally useless, isn't it? Though they do show movies VERY early there.

@d@ml (nordicskilla), Wednesday, 5 November 2003 18:20 (twenty-one years ago)

...but not a matinee price... wtf?

gygax! (gygax!), Wednesday, 5 November 2003 18:20 (twenty-one years ago)

it really is useless, especially for how much space it takes up .. especially considering how many other much more entertaining things take up much less space in san francisco.

Dean Gulberry (deangulberry), Wednesday, 5 November 2003 18:25 (twenty-one years ago)

like this?

JasonD (JasonD), Wednesday, 5 November 2003 20:22 (twenty-one years ago)

adam, whole foods is not kicking us out. i live in an 8 floor mega complex piece of shit that is totally ugly but nice and cheap. the whole foods is moving in on the bottom floor. they are stealing one floor of our two floors of parking though which really sux. we're gonna have to fit two floors of parking on one floor now and get a permanent valet attendant. we're gonna have to call ahead to get our car out. fucking blows. but we can just go downstairs and get yummy expensive food.

JasonD (JasonD), Wednesday, 5 November 2003 20:24 (twenty-one years ago)

Is that the Lower Haight bong I keep hearing so much about? Apparently it's *smokin*.

(sorry)

@d@ml (nordicskilla), Wednesday, 5 November 2003 20:25 (twenty-one years ago)

Maybe I should move to the city.

@d@ml (nordicskilla), Wednesday, 5 November 2003 20:25 (twenty-one years ago)

actually, it's not the Lower Haight Bong, it's the Tenderloin Crack Pipe

maybe you should stay in the suburbs

JasonD (JasonD), Wednesday, 5 November 2003 21:00 (twenty-one years ago)

just want to let y'all know that both bongs and c-pipes are very welcome/prevalent in the lower haight.

gygax! (gygax!), Wednesday, 5 November 2003 21:07 (twenty-one years ago)

maybe you should stay in the suburbs

Probably, we're fine upstanding citizens out here in berkeley. None of that stuff here, oh no...

@d@ml (nordicskilla), Wednesday, 5 November 2003 21:13 (twenty-one years ago)

Hi JasonD!

gygax! (gygax!), Wednesday, 5 November 2003 21:24 (twenty-one years ago)

hi big D (or should i call you G). how's work. it's freezing here.

JasonD (JasonD), Wednesday, 5 November 2003 22:26 (twenty-one years ago)

work is weird. i am cold too. going from 90 to 40 in <7 days is a bit of a shock to the system.

gygax! (gygax!), Wednesday, 5 November 2003 23:36 (twenty-one years ago)

I love it! It's like being back in my homeland! *sniff*

Bring on the...drizzle!

fo shizzle

@d@ml (nordicskilla), Wednesday, 5 November 2003 23:57 (twenty-one years ago)

what are your plans for the winter holidays, mr. skillz?

gygax! (gygax!), Wednesday, 5 November 2003 23:58 (twenty-one years ago)

Either:

1) Stay here and work.

or

2)Spend holidays with in-laws and family in Chicago/Indiana/Michigan.

I can't afford to go back the UK for quite a while, if that's what you were asking- but my family's Jewish anyway, so christmas in the Midwest is urgent and key.

What are you doing for xmas, gygax!?

@d@ml (nordicskilla), Thursday, 6 November 2003 00:02 (twenty-one years ago)

just seeing if you were in town. i'm trying to make my plans and was making sure i knew yours prior to making mine!

gygax! (gygax!), Thursday, 6 November 2003 00:10 (twenty-one years ago)

That's very thoughtful!

@d@ml (nordicskilla), Thursday, 6 November 2003 00:25 (twenty-one years ago)

what are you wearing?

JasonD (JasonD), Thursday, 6 November 2003 00:26 (twenty-one years ago)

A tie! (post interview)

@d@ml (nordicskilla), Thursday, 6 November 2003 00:27 (twenty-one years ago)

The craigslist tv/film/radio listings bear yet more rotten fruit:

@d@ml (nordicskilla), Thursday, 6 November 2003 00:29 (twenty-one years ago)

"Our main audience is woman. Over 50% of our members are woman. We promote you as straight, because that is what we want people to know. We are a sight with videos of straight men masturbating to magazines of nude woman.
"

@d@ml (nordicskilla), Thursday, 6 November 2003 00:30 (twenty-one years ago)

and what a sight to behold.

gygax! (gygax!), Thursday, 6 November 2003 00:35 (twenty-one years ago)

five months pass...
haha

@d@ml (nordicskilla), Saturday, 10 April 2004 04:54 (twenty-one years ago)

t would be better if it really was an accident, and the art was the sign, not the truck.

-- Marcel Post (marcel_pos...), November 5th, 2003.

Yes!

@d@ml (nordicskilla), Saturday, 10 April 2004 04:55 (twenty-one years ago)

this was actually a cool piece if you got to see it at night and go inside of it. animated barry mcgee wood cutouts and weird video shit. I don't think it was probably very impressive during the daytime though.
