Cholesterol occurs naturally in the human body. It has a vital role to pley. If the body has too little cholesterol, it will make some from other fats. If a body is cholesterol-deprived for an extended period of time, it becomes ill.

Just like most things having to do with health, there is a healthy range that reperesents the middle of the target - the optimum - and when you fall above or below that range you are in trouble. Among other things, cholesterol is a component of the fatty sheath around nerve fibers. That's why brains are so high in cholesterol.
