What has your ILE experience been like for the past couple of days?

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Wednesday, 5 November 2003 16:59 (twenty-two years ago)

Thinking, "Hm, time to write another chapter for NaNoWriMo!"

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 5 November 2003 17:00 (twenty-two years ago)

I don't know what the fuss is about. I've been crowned Queen. I could care less about the ILX civil war! If you avoid one or two threads, this is the best that ILX has been in ages.

Her Royal Highness Queen Kate (kate), Wednesday, 5 November 2003 17:06 (twenty-two years ago)

nonbusiness as usual

felicity (felicity), Wednesday, 5 November 2003 17:07 (twenty-two years ago)

This isn't a thread to complain about the state of ILE. This is a thread to post your reactions to ILE over the past couple of days.

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Wednesday, 5 November 2003 17:08 (twenty-two years ago)

IOW, it's the non-defensive, non-offensive meta thread! I don't want throwdowns, I want SHARING AND CARING.

ILE has turned me into a hippy. For that it must DIE.

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Wednesday, 5 November 2003 17:09 (twenty-two years ago)

Hippies don't listen to Skinny Puppy, get a hold of yourself, man!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 5 November 2003 17:10 (twenty-two years ago)

This isn't a thread to complain about the state of ILE. This is a thread to post your reactions to ILE over the past couple of days.

Many Coloured Halo (Dee the Lurker), Wednesday, 5 November 2003 17:11 (twenty-two years ago)

But hey, that's just normal for me. :)

Many Coloured Halo (Dee the Lurker), Wednesday, 5 November 2003 17:12 (twenty-two years ago)

"nonbusiness" is a compliment! I LIKE DULL WORK.

(I am especially happy about the revival of "banal conversastions")

felicity (felicity), Wednesday, 5 November 2003 17:12 (twenty-two years ago)

I just came back sorta so I'm either nonplussed or befuddled or something. mystified - I really can't tell where the grumpiness and such is emanating from (and it's coming from all corners). I feel I missed a big dramatic multi-party showdown and I'm seeing the fallout now, only I don't see where the showdown was meaning maybe this is the showdown and ye olde twat gangs are too narcissitic to pay attention to anything/one other than their own "brilliance" long enough to get into a proper pissing match. there's a strange mix of pussyfooting and willful hurtfulness on the various crush "drama" threads, strange cuz they're not at all entertaining. (ie. for 'onlookers shocked by the puddles of blood' effect you need 'puddles of blood' - make with the juice already!).

cinniblount (James Blount), Wednesday, 5 November 2003 17:15 (twenty-two years ago)

alot of people I'm fond of I'm growing less fond of

cinniblount (James Blount), Wednesday, 5 November 2003 17:16 (twenty-two years ago)

I might be gone for some time.

@d@ml (nordicskilla), Wednesday, 5 November 2003 17:17 (twenty-two years ago)

Is there a lot of hate on the crush board then? Havnae seen it.

Enrique (Enrique), Wednesday, 5 November 2003 17:19 (twenty-two years ago)

i am going to take a break too. there doesn't seem to be much point these days. the meta-meta-meta (and yes, dan, i'm including this) stuff has gotten too convoluted to even bother parsing.

strongo hulkington's ghost (dubplatestyle), Wednesday, 5 November 2003 17:20 (twenty-two years ago)

"convoluted"?

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Wednesday, 5 November 2003 17:21 (twenty-two years ago)

"what the fuck is the deal with the what the fuck is the deal with the [blank] thread?"

strongo hulkington's ghost (dubplatestyle), Wednesday, 5 November 2003 17:22 (twenty-two years ago)

"This isn't a thread to complain about the state of ILE. This is a thread to post your reactions to ILE over the past couple of days."

strongo hulkington's ghost (dubplatestyle), Wednesday, 5 November 2003 17:22 (twenty-two years ago)

Parse the dutch, baby -- if you don't like it, don't read it. Or post something better, surely. I'm a newbie, so...

Enriqure (Enrique), Wednesday, 5 November 2003 17:23 (twenty-two years ago)

etc etc ad infinitum

strongo hulkington's ghost (dubplatestyle), Wednesday, 5 November 2003 17:23 (twenty-two years ago)

Enrique, don't you mean "pass the dutchie"?

Sarah (starry), Wednesday, 5 November 2003 17:24 (twenty-two years ago)

I am sure you did, actually. That was obvious. Dur.

Sarah (starry), Wednesday, 5 November 2003 17:24 (twenty-two years ago)

His heart was (I guess) in the right place in starting it, but it was pretty embarrassing having a tribute thread when I haven't really distinguished myself as a poster here enough to warrant it. It was kinda fun that it was derailed into a fart joke thread for a bit. Other than that I've been too busy to really care much, though it does make me sad when people get personal. I'd like a donut now. To answer the thread question, C, so long as you don't slide it in too far.

Bryan (Bryan), Wednesday, 5 November 2003 17:24 (twenty-two years ago)

questions asked out of curiousity get taken as insults>>> people who always poke their nose in things fan flames>>>semi-shitty feeling>>>things gradually realized over past few weeks made even more clear

oops (Oops), Wednesday, 5 November 2003 17:25 (twenty-two years ago)

I think the chemotherapy pills will compare favorably.

Nicolars (Nicole), Wednesday, 5 November 2003 17:26 (twenty-two years ago)

ILX always gets really good just after there's been a massive fite and people have stormed off. I'm looking forward to the next few days.

But yeah, can we call a halt to this endless meta-thing, its rearing its head on every other thread and getting really, really tedious. Far more tedious than the occasional thread of hypertwee bullshit.

The Americans and nudity thread is really good. As is the American presidential one.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Wednesday, 5 November 2003 17:26 (twenty-two years ago)

But otherwise its been rubbish for the last few days.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Wednesday, 5 November 2003 17:27 (twenty-two years ago)

Another issue here is misplaced aggression ie I didn't really give a shit about disliking oops prior to a well-liked regular being a complete cockfarmer to me and making ILX a really sickly experience by and large and though it's stopped I never really could tell this person off on board because that'd be so wrong, "tolerating people we like", so instead I hate nu-ilx because that's an acceptable target that doesn't provoke drama and email and overly nosey AIM conversations.

So, yeah, sorry dude.

Allyzay, Wednesday, 5 November 2003 17:28 (twenty-two years ago)

somehow the ilxors I used to like most I'm now finding myself liking least

cinniblount (James Blount), Wednesday, 5 November 2003 17:31 (twenty-two years ago)

Where are these overly nosey AIM conversations? I never get any gossip from AIM and that's what I got the sodding thing for! (Er not that I see my conversation windows half of the time, sorry if I've not replied to people)

Sarah (starry), Wednesday, 5 November 2003 17:32 (twenty-two years ago)

Sarah, I'm on AIM these days - you should add me. I'll ask all sort of nosey questions!

Sarah McLusky (coco), Wednesday, 5 November 2003 17:33 (twenty-two years ago)

Well mine is "starryversus" - if I don't respond I've probably fallen asleep on the sofa or obsessively playing neopets or something and I apologise in advance :)

Sarah (starry), Wednesday, 5 November 2003 17:34 (twenty-two years ago)

s'ok, bro.
I really was just curious as to why Jess and Julio would bother to keep up with that thread. I don't know how NA got mentioned in that either. Oh wait, I said 'shut up, dork' cause he said something about a popularity contest, so I was being the high school jock.

(massive xpost i'm sure)

oops (Oops), Wednesday, 5 November 2003 17:36 (twenty-two years ago)

blount otm.

mark p (Mark P), Wednesday, 5 November 2003 17:37 (twenty-two years ago)

you'd be amazed at what a simple name change can do for you.

Huckleberry Mann (Horace Mann), Wednesday, 5 November 2003 17:40 (twenty-two years ago)

Correction: broheems

oops (Oops), Wednesday, 5 November 2003 17:40 (twenty-two years ago)

jess and julio read every thread, oops.

Allyzay, Wednesday, 5 November 2003 17:42 (twenty-two years ago)

haha no there are some i most def avoid

strongo hulkington's ghost (dubplatestyle), Wednesday, 5 November 2003 17:43 (twenty-two years ago)

anyway, in the interet of my sanity and bank account, i'm out for the time being, but i'll be back. if I'm using the computer i'll be on IM even though i should be writing. mid-atlantic people keep me updated on any fappage. try not to kill each other.

strongo hulkington's ghost (dubplatestyle), Wednesday, 5 November 2003 17:46 (twenty-two years ago)

Surely you find a stiletto in the eye a bit sexy, huh Dan?

Sarah McLusky (coco), Wednesday, 5 November 2003 17:48 (twenty-two years ago)

Julio prints and catalogues threads in a gargantuan underground filing system. He told me when I met him. "It's like Brazil down there"- that's what he said.

@d@ml (nordicskilla), Wednesday, 5 November 2003 17:48 (twenty-two years ago)

("the movie")

@d@ml (nordicskilla), Wednesday, 5 November 2003 17:49 (twenty-two years ago)

(not "the wax"?)

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Wednesday, 5 November 2003 17:50 (twenty-two years ago)

Everything is too hard to follow, I dunno who likes who anymore. We can work it out, or something. I guess I should just remain on my same old posting course.

jel -- (jel), Wednesday, 5 November 2003 17:51 (twenty-two years ago)

adam i hope you were joking a few posts ago and totally serious in the last one.

oops (Oops), Wednesday, 5 November 2003 17:51 (twenty-two years ago)

I don't know oops-I enjoy ILX but it just doesn't seem like the best use of my time at the moment.

@d@ml (nordicskilla), Wednesday, 5 November 2003 17:53 (twenty-two years ago)

but surely nothing productive can be done past midnight?

oops (Oops), Wednesday, 5 November 2003 17:54 (twenty-two years ago)

I especially hate that anyone who tries to move away from the current tone gets pulled back down.

Sarah McLusky (coco), Wednesday, 5 November 2003 17:57 (twenty-two years ago)

but surely nothing productive can be done past midnight?

No, I'll still be on here late I guess. With you and Helltime Producto and that one other dude, what'shisname. The old graveyard shift posse. And maybe s1utsky if he hasn't calmed down from spending an afternoon being forced to watch the latest feature-length Nickelodeon production in a dark room full of sugar crazed pre-schoolers.

@d@ml (nordicskilla), Wednesday, 5 November 2003 18:01 (twenty-two years ago)

My ILX experience (insert wah-wah sound here) has been great! Did I miss something?

Tracer Hand (tracerhand), Wednesday, 5 November 2003 18:15 (twenty-two years ago)

Nope.

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Wednesday, 5 November 2003 18:16 (twenty-two years ago)

i have been so extremely bored the last 2 weeks (at work).
i'm out of stuff to talk about on ilm and ile has become only a moderately better alternative to categorizing our company's font library (which is massive). i'm considering ramming tech pens & pantone chips up my nose to pass time instead.
!somebody please give me work¡

"ile" looks like "lie" to a dyslexic reading fast.

dyson (dyson), Wednesday, 5 November 2003 18:30 (twenty-two years ago)

My recent internal ILE dialogue:

Oh cool Banal Conversatiosn has been revived, Ally rules; 350 new answers - oh it's all crushes, fighting and pictures; nope, don't know anything about that; REFRESH; 450 new answers - oh, I might as well post something silly; What's up with me? - I can't think of anything to say - too much to read through, arrgghhh; REFRESH; search - new answers archive - Oh last year, I announced that I was taking a break, that lasted 4 days!; REFRESH; I should just keep to posting on the weekend or something; Oh I'm no fun; REFRESH; Cool, I made the funny thread; Ned has written 22 chapters in 3 days!! REFRESH; Oh no, the favourite posters thread, I won't look; REFRESH; I wonder what name Mark C will choose?...

jel -- (jel), Wednesday, 5 November 2003 18:51 (twenty-two years ago)

from the looks of it, kinda nice that real life has gotten too overwhelming for me to pay more than cursory attention to it for the last few weeks
