oh yeah, so um, whats the best part of your job...if there is one...

jess, Thursday, 4 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

The best part of my job is the fact that I can get away with spending ages pissing about on the net, and can also telecommute all the time.

The best part of my job which involves actually doing work is probably seeing my press release spin on things turn up in the newspapers. Writing this down it seems like a really minor pleasure but it's still more satisfying than charting.

I once got to go on a fire service course, you know, in tunnels and stuff, with flames and things

that was very exciting indeed.

and I get free dust masks now, unfortunately not the full self contained breathing apparatus though.

Autonomy. Of the three magazines I work with (for pay), I dictate the content of two of them.

Beeer.

Gutting sardines. Then smearing blood on your face and staring crazily at the customers as you ask if there's anything else they'd like. Or cutting the heads off other fish. Or the vending machine that only costs 16p for coffee. Or the jacket potatoes for 52p. Or being very good at slicing Parma ham. Or knowing my job inside out and disturbing people who think that everyone who works in supermarkets are braindead. Actually, it's shit.

Besides the obvious screwing around on the 'net the best part of my job is being close enough to where my honey works that we can lunch together every day. (now watch him post and only mention screwing around on the 'net.)

The best part of my job, was when my boss was on holiday, because then I could get away with coming in late, going home early, and generally not doing much. The good old days.

jel, Thursday, 4 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Jess.........me too. Before they release new stuff they used to send samples to marketing in work. Brilliant. Of course I'm not working there at the moment.

Although if my job is being a student then the perks are numerous and as follows.

15 hours a week.

Complete day off Wednesday.

30 girls in my 38 person class. Obviously this is not a perk for everyone.

I could go on all night and bore you all further but I have a Freshers Ball to go to.

Ronan, Thursday, 4 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

listening to CDs 6 out of 7 hours. being able to finish my work in about an hour if i want to, futzing around on the internet much of the rest of the time. unrestricted access to laser printers and xerox machines. being in a different building than my boss.

The best part of my job is saving lives. I can't think of a better part than that. Oh, apart from lunch. So many restaurants, so little time.

Trevor, Thursday, 4 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I'm listening to music, surfing the web, can do what I want and somehow they pay me. Beauty.

Ned Raggett, Thursday, 4 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I like my apartment.

Ally, Thursday, 4 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I can tell you today's worst part... I had to send a wire transfer of US dollars out that was addressed to WTC tower one... I'm assuming it'll be redirected to the right place... but it was major eerie and sad.

Kim, Thursday, 4 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

di, Thursday, 4 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

The fact that it was connected to the underground hallways beneath Toronto and I could find endlessly new places to eat lunch.

Oh wait, now Im in student mode so just the 50 cent beer nights I guess.

Mr Noodles, Friday, 5 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I can play video games -- and it could be construed as research.

Brian MacDonald, Friday, 5 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

best part about cocktailing is the look of rage on the face of the girl who I just spilled a cosmo on. "Oops, sorry. That'll be 12 dollars though."

phil, Friday, 5 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Ah, yes. The food service industry. The best part of my job is giving free coffee drinks to the people who work at the record shop down the street so I can get half price toons. The barter system RULES!

turner, Friday, 5 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

especially trading things that don't belong to you!!!

ethan, Friday, 5 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Hi-speed internet, pretty good dossing potential and three weeks in the US so far this year. Oh, and we're going ten pin bowling on Tuesday afternoon to build team spirit/get drunk.

Madchen, Friday, 5 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

If school is my job, it is lots of social time and the wonderful joyful choir. If you mean a paying job, ask me again in a month.
