Remember, you wanted to live there. ;-)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 6 November 2003 00:42 (twenty-two years ago)

haha!

"Berkeley"

Oh but Ned, our house is really nice, cozy, and sunny. Ask Kyle!

And the high school kids make me laugh.

Berkeley highschool kids yelled at me because there was nowhere for me to recycle my can so i threw it in the trash

i should have told tell them their parents are really the cause for our screwed up planet

I was, uh, sitting in a bathroom on the Berkeley campus and someone wrote "Liberals GO HOME!" on a wall. Underneath, someone wrote: "Where do you think you are?". This is by far the best bathroom graffiti ever.

Seen today on the back of a car on Telegraph:

"ANIMALS ARE PEOPLE IN FUR COATS"

@d@ml (nordicskilla), Friday, 7 November 2003 21:53 (twenty-two years ago)

I remember that there used to be all this graffiti up my freshman year about this girl (i forget her name -- Jessica?) and how much this dude (Matt something? was in love with her)

Two years later I saw this big thing scrawled on a campus building -- in the same handwriting "I hate you Jessica you stupid slut -- Matt"

It was like the longest wait for a punchline of a joke ever.

Berkeley is the only place where, if you ask for directions on how to get somewhere (without mentioning whether you're walking or driving, mind you), kids will muster up the energy to tell you in the most fucking stilted way possible "Hey, man, *i* don't drive. Ask someone else."

"ANIMALS ARE PEOPLE IN FUR COATS"

No, those are rich people.

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Friday, 7 November 2003 22:41 (twenty-two years ago)

Back to the topic, there are similar stickers all around Seattle paper kiosks too but instead of just merely making multi-ironic statements, they all are drawings of these little bald heads with lots of forehead wrinkles that are all captioned "THE SHORT BALD MAN WITH THE LARGE HEAD!"

donut bitch (donut), Friday, 7 November 2003 22:43 (twenty-two years ago)

(or something like that)

donut bitch (donut), Friday, 7 November 2003 22:44 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh shit I remember that graffiti sterling, that was the early 90's, no?

Also classic: the screeds against some woman that covered every inch of the bathroom at the Coffee Source on telegraph, about what whore cop fucker she was and how she would fuck you over, watch out!

The dumpster near our apartment reads: "Women lie"

Lots of bitter men in Berkeley, apparently.

anthony kyle monday (akmonday), Friday, 7 November 2003 22:51 (twenty-two years ago)

late 90s -- 97-99 i think. tho some of the scrawls may have been up for like a year prior.

my other fav. graffiti at berkeley was these little sufiist stickers that said "even here is holy" in this pretty pretty text and were put around nasty bathrooms.

one year me and friends drew chalk mustaches on all the statues on the campus for halloween! nobody really noticed, i think. :-(

Does this mean we're supposed to throw red paint at critters now?

Michael White (Hereward), Friday, 24 September 2004 20:43 (twenty-one years ago)

there has been one on university for weeks that says "Hey let's have sex!" which is really funny.

kyle (akmonday), Friday, 24 September 2004 21:03 (twenty-one years ago)

Hahahahaha! That IS funny!

adam. (nordicskilla), Friday, 24 September 2004 21:04 (twenty-one years ago)

it's funny because it's right in front of the headlines which are always grim. it's so inviting though. if I am arrested molesting the box, you know why.

kyle (akmonday), Friday, 24 September 2004 21:06 (twenty-one years ago)

Is it a Yank box?

adam. (nordicskilla), Friday, 24 September 2004 21:06 (twenty-one years ago)

kyle (akmonday), Friday, 24 September 2004 21:07 (twenty-one years ago)

"5 dead in East Oakland bloodbath...Hey let's have sex!"

adam. (nordicskilla), Friday, 24 September 2004 21:08 (twenty-one years ago)

"More downtown Oakland businesses to close, massive layoffs...Hey let's have sex!"

adam. (nordicskilla), Friday, 24 September 2004 21:09 (twenty-one years ago)
