All I can say is if I were a politician in a tight corner appearing on the Today programme I'd hope to God it was Naughtie interviewing me not Humphrys. Naughtie's waffling, miss-the-point, bowl-them-an-easy-one, let-them-talk-about-whatever-they-want-to technique makes me want to shout at the radio.

Humphries may not be Paxman but he's got more bite than 0'ie who couldn't spot an angle to skewer a politician if his inerviewee turned up in drag with a dwarf manservant bearing a silver platter laid out with lines of the finest Colombian marching powder and offered to raise any issue he wished in the Commons at £5 a pop.
