At Bryan's request.
I saw Joel Plaskett last nigth. He was great.
(see how much there is going in Saskatchewan!)

Huckleberry Mann (Horace Mann), Thursday, 6 November 2003 18:18 (twenty-one years ago)

It's true. I thought I was going to freeze to death the first time I visited Montreal.

Nemo (JND), Thursday, 6 November 2003 18:21 (twenty-one years ago)

It's -10 C here right now (14 F). I don't really know if we're all that cool, and I don't really want to be cool. I do want to get the new They Might Be Giants CD for the Marcel Dzama artwork. I think Jean shaking his chair above his head like he was the caveman in 2001 was pretty cool.

Bryan (Bryan), Thursday, 6 November 2003 18:25 (twenty-one years ago)

he crazy

Huckleberry Mann (Horace Mann), Thursday, 6 November 2003 18:26 (twenty-one years ago)

Wait, what new TMBG CD with Dzama artwork?

Casuistry (Chris P), Thursday, 6 November 2003 18:27 (twenty-one years ago)

Also, are all the Canada thread revivals designed specifically to keep me from working today?

Casuistry (Chris P), Thursday, 6 November 2003 18:28 (twenty-one years ago)

Tony Danza's an artist?

teeny (teeny), Thursday, 6 November 2003 18:29 (twenty-one years ago)

this is how Canada makes war...we are attacking the USA by destroying it's productivity, one worker at a time!

Huckleberry Mann (Horace Mann), Thursday, 6 November 2003 18:30 (twenty-one years ago)

(note to CIA/Office of Homeland Security monitoring this board for counterterrorism purposes: I am only joking, I love the USA as much as the next guy)

Huckleberry Mann (Horace Mann), Thursday, 6 November 2003 18:31 (twenty-one years ago)

Here Chris.

Bryan (Bryan), Thursday, 6 November 2003 18:32 (twenty-one years ago)

it's even "by" Dzama!

Did you read Lee Henderson's book then too?
I went to high school with him.

Huckleberry Mann (Horace Mann), Thursday, 6 November 2003 18:33 (twenty-one years ago)

What part of Canada is Marcel Dzama from?

Nemo (JND), Thursday, 6 November 2003 18:39 (twenty-one years ago)

the cool part.

Huckleberry Mann (Horace Mann), Thursday, 6 November 2003 18:40 (twenty-one years ago)

Sigh, I miss Thrush Hermit, but I did get one or two IlXors hooked on Joel Plaskett. Clayton Park was a really really good album.
We are still above freezing in Toronto.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Thursday, 6 November 2003 18:40 (twenty-one years ago)

his new album Truthfully Truthfully is awesome. "Extra Ordinary" is, in 3/4 of a word: terrif.

Huckleberry Mann (Horace Mann), Thursday, 6 November 2003 18:41 (twenty-one years ago)

the cool part is Winnipeg!

Huckleberry Mann (Horace Mann), Thursday, 6 November 2003 18:41 (twenty-one years ago)

from this thread Canada is boringer than I'd think.

teeny (teeny), Thursday, 6 November 2003 18:42 (twenty-one years ago)

Dzama is from here in Winnipeg along with the rest of the Royal Art Lodge. Am I the only one in the world who thought the latest Super Friendz album was brilliant?

Bryan (Bryan), Thursday, 6 November 2003 18:42 (twenty-one years ago)

It's pretty boring, teeny!

Bryan (Bryan), Thursday, 6 November 2003 18:42 (twenty-one years ago)

I thought the first Flashing Lights album was good if not completely unoriginaly. The sad part about Superfriendz getting back together is no Kernny Lake Reunion.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Thursday, 6 November 2003 18:48 (twenty-one years ago)

I love Canada, though I've only been to Montreal and Vancouver (so what I'm really saying is that I love Montreal). But the fact that both Guy Maddin and Marcel Dzama are from Winnipeg makes me very curious about this city.

Nemo (JND), Thursday, 6 November 2003 18:56 (twenty-one years ago)

Some of my favourite people live in Canada.

luna (luna.c), Thursday, 6 November 2003 18:59 (twenty-one years ago)

The new Guy Maddin movie is gonna be really good. I'm curious about my city, too.

jaymc (jaymc), Thursday, 6 November 2003 19:13 (twenty-one years ago)

Canada can indeed be, in its fucking entirely, below freezing at any given time. and it's easy to find out. If Victoria is below freezing, there ya go.

donut bitch (donut), Thursday, 6 November 2003 19:27 (twenty-one years ago)

Canada: We're South of Detroit

Huckleberry Mann (Horace Mann), Thursday, 6 November 2003 19:29 (twenty-one years ago)

Anyplace with a town called Dildo is okay by me.

luna (luna.c), Thursday, 6 November 2003 19:29 (twenty-one years ago)

And don't forget near by Conception Bay

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Thursday, 6 November 2003 20:21 (twenty-one years ago)

I know we've talked about it before but I really miss "The Great Eastern" on CBC radio, "Newfoundland's cultural magazine" (which was of course pure mentalism).

Bryan (Bryan), Thursday, 6 November 2003 20:41 (twenty-one years ago)

Go here to find out why.

Bryan (Bryan), Thursday, 6 November 2003 21:11 (twenty-one years ago)

i think this sort of low key, pay for my health care and get out of my way type of activity is v. much a cool thing about canada. Our painters suck, but there are other things that rule (poetry, novels, femminisms, crafts, snow, an adventrous curtaorial policy for national musuems, music esp. soundscape indie & country.)

anthony easton (anthony), Thursday, 6 November 2003 21:26 (twenty-one years ago)

Not a fan of the group of seven Anthony?

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Thursday, 6 November 2003 21:28 (twenty-one years ago)

Haha, well trying to remeber some more famous artistical allumni I found out that Harry Potter's Gryffindor House has the same colours as my univeristy. Freaky.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Thursday, 6 November 2003 21:36 (twenty-one years ago)

FUCKING CANADIAN ART.
I knew we had done this before.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Thursday, 6 November 2003 21:48 (twenty-one years ago)
