it's fucking true

Huckleberry Mann (Horace Mann), Thursday, 6 November 2003 18:49 (twenty-two years ago)

Would you like me to admit it for you?

Lara (Lara), Thursday, 6 November 2003 18:52 (twenty-two years ago)

You just admitted it, dude!

Bryan (Bryan), Thursday, 6 November 2003 18:52 (twenty-two years ago)

No no, it's even more boringer than that. Duh.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Thursday, 6 November 2003 18:54 (twenty-two years ago)

Yeah but that's what's so cool about Canada! Don't you see?

"May you never live in interesting times."

Casuistry (Chris P), Thursday, 6 November 2003 18:54 (twenty-two years ago)

There's this whole metaphysical thing that I could go into but I'm not drunk/horny/eating lunch enough to bother.

Casuistry (Chris P), Thursday, 6 November 2003 18:55 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh, Can-ada!

Lara (Lara), Thursday, 6 November 2003 18:55 (twenty-two years ago)

try crossing the ambassador bridge between windsor & detroit. THAT ain't boring.

Jay Dee Sah Mon (Kingfish), Thursday, 6 November 2003 18:57 (twenty-two years ago)

The moose looks way bigger than I thought it was in that picture! Are those just really tiny trees?

Casuistry (Chris P), Thursday, 6 November 2003 18:57 (twenty-two years ago)

both
(remember, all trees in Southern Sask were planted by white people or by people employed by white people, so even the biggest ones aren't very big)

Huckleberry Mann (Horace Mann), Thursday, 6 November 2003 18:59 (twenty-two years ago)

That Coke can in Portage is funny. I was on the phone with a Rogers guy because of something weird with my phone, and when I told him that the reception had gotten clearer when I was in Portage he said, "Oh yeah, it looks like they just put up a new tower by...the huge Coke can? Huh?" Oh that made me laugh I tell you.

Bryan (Bryan), Thursday, 6 November 2003 18:59 (twenty-two years ago)

(remember, all trees in Southern Sask were planted by white people or by people employed by white people, so even the biggest ones aren't very big)

Maybe you aren't aware of this, but some white people have very large trees indeed!

Casuistry (Chris P), Thursday, 6 November 2003 19:00 (twenty-two years ago)

Hey, how do you 'toss' a bridge?

Lara (Lara), Thursday, 6 November 2003 19:01 (twenty-two years ago)

it's a card game

Huckleberry Mann (Horace Mann), Thursday, 6 November 2003 19:02 (twenty-two years ago)

Westside!

Lara (Lara), Thursday, 6 November 2003 19:03 (twenty-two years ago)

B-but Canada has those French speaking people in it somewhere! And everyone wanted to go there in college to get drunk!

Sarah McLusky (coco), Thursday, 6 November 2003 19:04 (twenty-two years ago)

well, that's the sexy part of Canada

Huckleberry Mann (Horace Mann), Thursday, 6 November 2003 19:05 (twenty-two years ago)

I love the French speaking people here and where did you go to college, Sarah?

Bryan (Bryan), Thursday, 6 November 2003 19:06 (twenty-two years ago)

Canada - More Boehringer Than I'm Willing To Admit

NA (Nick A.), Thursday, 6 November 2003 19:08 (twenty-two years ago)

Canada - More Behringer Than I'm Willing To Admit

nickalicious (nickalicious), Thursday, 6 November 2003 19:09 (twenty-two years ago)

(do badfinger next)

Huckleberry Mann (Horace Mann), Thursday, 6 November 2003 19:09 (twenty-two years ago)

I was gonna look for a link for "Canada - More Bazoombas Than I'm Willing To Admit" but then I got bored.

Casuistry (Chris P), Thursday, 6 November 2003 19:10 (twenty-two years ago)

you would

Huckleberry Mann (Horace Mann), Thursday, 6 November 2003 19:11 (twenty-two years ago)

Get it? "Bored"?

Casuistry (Chris P), Thursday, 6 November 2003 19:12 (twenty-two years ago)

I went to William & Mary. It's in Williamsburg, VA. You know, where all the colonial folk frolic about in funny clothes. Granted, it's not very close to Canada AT ALL.

Sarah McLusky (coco), Thursday, 6 November 2003 19:12 (twenty-two years ago)

Probably still worth the drive to drink legally in a 19 or 20-year old's mind. I think I would like to frolic in funny clothes tonight...

Bryan (Bryan), Thursday, 6 November 2003 19:13 (twenty-two years ago)

When my bandmate was a kid, her parents took her to Colonial Williamsburg. For a WEEK. And that's all they did. For a WEEK. She made soooo many candles...

Casuistry (Chris P), Thursday, 6 November 2003 19:15 (twenty-two years ago)

Here are some funny Canadian clothes to frolic in:

Nemo (JND), Thursday, 6 November 2003 19:17 (twenty-two years ago)

I want a hat made out of a ginormous piece of aluminum sheeting!

Casuistry (Chris P), Thursday, 6 November 2003 19:21 (twenty-two years ago)

Dzamabama!

Huckleberry Mann (Horace Mann), Thursday, 6 November 2003 19:21 (twenty-two years ago)

Yeah, but even the more northern coldest Canadian cities have cheery names like Flin Flon... also some of you have POLAR BEARS AS LICENCE PLATES! That's certainly not boring.

David A. (Davant), Thursday, 6 November 2003 19:23 (twenty-two years ago)

Although I will say the drive on 401 between windsor and toronto is excessively boring... bordering on dangerously boring... bordering on dangerously dangerous when its snowing.

donut bitch (donut), Thursday, 6 November 2003 19:23 (twenty-two years ago)

Other fun Canadian town names:

Bella Bella and Bella Coola
Spuzzum
Moose Jaw
Medicine Hat
Summerland
Peachland
Chilliwack

David A. (Davant), Thursday, 6 November 2003 19:25 (twenty-two years ago)

(Any country that names its towns thusly cannot be boring.)

David A. (Davant), Thursday, 6 November 2003 19:25 (twenty-two years ago)

(Anyone who uses the word "thusly" cannot be sane.)

David A. (Davant), Thursday, 6 November 2003 19:26 (twenty-two years ago)

Anyplace with a town called 'Dildo' is okay by me. (x-post)

luna (luna.c), Thursday, 6 November 2003 19:27 (twenty-two years ago)

Casuistry (Chris P), Thursday, 6 November 2003 19:27 (twenty-two years ago)

Polar bears AS license plates? That is definitely not boring, though it sounds a bit dangerous.

Nemo (JND), Thursday, 6 November 2003 19:28 (twenty-two years ago)

YOu kinda need a large vehicle to secure the thing at the back of your car and just keep your distance when you change a flat

donut bitch (donut), Thursday, 6 November 2003 19:29 (twenty-two years ago)

"Chilliwack" tastes like burning.

Casuistry (Chris P), Thursday, 6 November 2003 19:31 (twenty-two years ago)

Wow. I'm moving to Nunavut.

Nemo (JND), Thursday, 6 November 2003 19:32 (twenty-two years ago)

"Yours To Discover" is an incredibly boring provincial motto, agreed.

donut bitch (donut), Thursday, 6 November 2003 19:33 (twenty-two years ago)

Other ideas for Ontario mottos:

"I AM CANADA (said in drunken Peter Buck drawl)"
"Time Stands Still" (said in faerie voiced Geddy Lee stylee)
"So Yonge So Long"

donut bitch (donut), Thursday, 6 November 2003 19:36 (twenty-two years ago)

You know, this could be urban legend material, but I heard that they had a poll to name the Territory that is now known as Nunavut. Nunavut was on the list, but the actual winner was "Bob". Now, if true, any country whose denizens wish to call a huge area of land Bob simply cannot be boring.

David A. (Davant), Thursday, 6 November 2003 19:36 (twenty-two years ago)

Don't open old wounds, dyson.

Bryan (Bryan), Friday, 7 November 2003 19:05 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm really disappointed not to have made that list. So much promotion, all for nought.

Kim (Kim), Friday, 7 November 2003 19:08 (twenty-two years ago)

http://chealth.canoe.ca/images/cp/x110605A.jpg

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Friday, 7 November 2003 19:12 (twenty-two years ago)

I meant for the list to be open to additions Kim.

Huckleberry Mann (Horace Mann), Friday, 7 November 2003 19:13 (twenty-two years ago)

x-post

I wouldn't call those ABNORMALLY LARGE or TEENAGE

Huckleberry Mann (Horace Mann), Friday, 7 November 2003 19:14 (twenty-two years ago)

He kinda looks like the backwards talking midget from Twin Peaks, and he HAS twin peaks! Oh I SLAY myself!!!

Bryan (Bryan), Friday, 7 November 2003 19:15 (twenty-two years ago)

Look at his little waist though, I mean, that looks totally photoshopped. Or has he been wearing a corset?

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Friday, 7 November 2003 19:21 (twenty-two years ago)

he looks rather proud

dyson (dyson), Friday, 7 November 2003 19:29 (twenty-two years ago)

Did he oil up for that picture?

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Friday, 7 November 2003 19:30 (twenty-two years ago)

next thread:
Canada: Kinda Icky Isn't It?

Huckleberry Mann (Horace Mann), Friday, 7 November 2003 19:32 (twenty-two years ago)

I love how that article completely ducks the real issue and only devotes about 25 words or so to the reason *why* it's an increasing problem.

Kim (Kim), Friday, 7 November 2003 19:36 (twenty-two years ago)

There was a reason?

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Friday, 7 November 2003 19:38 (twenty-two years ago)

they said something cursory about steroid use, obesity, and medications with more estrogen, and seriously - that was it.

Kim (Kim), Friday, 7 November 2003 19:40 (twenty-two years ago)

and really, is it a problem?
I mean, women have had bosoms forever, and they seem to get on all right.

Huckleberry Mann (Horace Mann), Friday, 7 November 2003 19:41 (twenty-two years ago)

Yeah, but take away the bosom and you get Joyce DeWitt -- a STAR!

Casuistry (Chris P), Friday, 7 November 2003 19:45 (twenty-two years ago)

According to www.gawker.com, a New York media gossip Web site, Canadians are the "new hotness", a title they took from their drunken cousins the Australians.

Nemo (JND), Friday, 7 November 2003 22:16 (twenty-two years ago)

Looks like our man Ratan Wadhwa went down to a tragic defeat tonight, coming a few votes shy of the mayorship. Maybe next time.

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Tuesday, 11 November 2003 04:53 (twenty-two years ago)

Municipal elections are riveting.

Christian Rawk, Tuesday, 11 November 2003 04:57 (twenty-two years ago)

Well Canadians, they're finally uniting the right. What do we think?
Keep with the program Stinkypants.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Tuesday, 11 November 2003 14:02 (twenty-two years ago)

But Noodles, my friend, I talked about Ratan Wadhwa on this thread. It would have made no sense over there.

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Tuesday, 11 November 2003 15:47 (twenty-two years ago)

I feel like Eugene Levy as Perry Como today.

Bryan (Bryan), Tuesday, 11 November 2003 15:49 (twenty-two years ago)

Am I the only one excited about the game tomorrow? From what I heard earlier today there was close to a million requests for tickets but only 60,000 (or so) available.

Bryan (Bryan), Friday, 21 November 2003 18:35 (twenty-two years ago)

it sure makes our Grey Cup last weekend forgettable

Huckleberry Mann (Horace Mann), Friday, 21 November 2003 18:39 (twenty-two years ago)

fucking edmonton

Huckleberry Mann (Horace Mann), Friday, 21 November 2003 18:39 (twenty-two years ago)

I may be visiting Canada next year. Watch out.

@d@ml (nordicskilla), Friday, 21 November 2003 18:39 (twenty-two years ago)

What are you gonna do to us?

Bryan (Bryan), Friday, 21 November 2003 18:40 (twenty-two years ago)

You can clean up after I TP the place.

Casuistry (Chris P), Friday, 21 November 2003 18:41 (twenty-two years ago)

new thread: Canada to get more boringer with influx of ILX refugees.

Huckleberry Mann (Horace Mann), Friday, 21 November 2003 18:41 (twenty-two years ago)

just kidding

Huckleberry Mann (Horace Mann), Friday, 21 November 2003 18:41 (twenty-two years ago)

Haha fuck you too, buddy!

Casuistry (Chris P), Friday, 21 November 2003 18:41 (twenty-two years ago)

What are you gonna do to us?

Put you all in a jar, bring you back to California, and make you farm pumpkins for minimum wage.

In the evenings, you will dance for me.

@d@ml (nordicskilla), Friday, 21 November 2003 18:45 (twenty-two years ago)

They do that anyway.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 21 November 2003 18:45 (twenty-two years ago)

Am I the only one excited about the game tomorrow?
nu-uh. is it going to be on the cbc¿ this may sound weird but i hope they light it well.

dyson (dyson), Friday, 21 November 2003 18:48 (twenty-two years ago)

Huckleberry Mann (Horace Mann), Friday, 21 November 2003 18:48 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm actually going to Canada next week as part of a secret plot to undermine the metric system.

Nemo (JND), Friday, 21 November 2003 18:49 (twenty-two years ago)

Well then you'd better fucking come to one of my shows.

Casuistry (Chris P), Friday, 21 November 2003 18:50 (twenty-two years ago)

Sounds better than what I'm doing now, N. You'd better get up here quick. I dance in the evenings (the Schottische, in fact) already but no pumpkin farming at present.

Bryan (Bryan), Friday, 21 November 2003 18:50 (twenty-two years ago)

Are you playing in Montreal?

Nemo (JND), Friday, 21 November 2003 18:52 (twenty-two years ago)

Yeah, dyson, it's on CBC. I understand your concern about the lighting, though it'll still be daylight for most of the game. I sure hope it's not fucking Bob Cole doing the play by play (waits for it).

Bryan (Bryan), Friday, 21 November 2003 18:53 (twenty-two years ago)

No. Nothing further east than Winnipeg. Let the easterners find their own breads and circuses.

Casuistry (Chris P), Friday, 21 November 2003 18:58 (twenty-two years ago)

(Assuming we get a Winnipeg gig, of course, urlk.)

Casuistry (Chris P), Friday, 21 November 2003 18:58 (twenty-two years ago)

maybe you should offer to play outside in Wpg and invoke the word HERITAGE, you can't go wrong

Huckleberry Mann (Horace Mann), Friday, 21 November 2003 19:00 (twenty-two years ago)

Ah, tant pis!

Nemo (JND), Friday, 21 November 2003 19:03 (twenty-two years ago)

And by the way the outdoor hockey is a great idea. Though it would be even better if it were on a pond.

Nemo (JND), Friday, 21 November 2003 19:04 (twenty-two years ago)

Consider curling.

Casuistry (Chris P), Friday, 21 November 2003 19:04 (twenty-two years ago)

not in my tent, bub

Huckleberry Mann (Horace Mann), Friday, 21 November 2003 19:04 (twenty-two years ago)

Curling or snuggling, whatever.

Casuistry (Chris P), Friday, 21 November 2003 19:06 (twenty-two years ago)

Hey, has anyone seen those ads for BCAA Premier Membership [featuring ex-BC premiers]? The Bill & Lillian Vander Zalm one is grrreat, but I have a morbid fascination with the Zalm so, yeah, anyway.

Poppy (poppy), Wednesday, 26 November 2003 06:35 (twenty-two years ago)

Poppy to direct 'Sinter Klaas: The Movie'!(sp?)

dave q, Wednesday, 26 November 2003 11:30 (twenty-two years ago)

Yup, still boring.
