Men: classic or dud?

Very many individual men are classic. However, I submit that the male gender in general is DUD!

Person of indefinite gender, Friday, 7 November 2003 09:43 (twenty-one years ago)

The male ppl in my life are all very classic & that is the only way i can judge, so I say classic. (but you cannot generalise like this anyway)

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Friday, 7 November 2003 09:47 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh, go fuck yourself.

Ricardo (RickyT), Friday, 7 November 2003 09:48 (twenty-one years ago)

Thanks!

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Friday, 7 November 2003 09:51 (twenty-one years ago)

Stinky hairy and with wrinkly balls urgh DUD

Gareth, Friday, 7 November 2003 09:51 (twenty-one years ago)

Sorry Pink, x-post

Ricardo (RickyT), Friday, 7 November 2003 09:52 (twenty-one years ago)

;-)

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Friday, 7 November 2003 09:53 (twenty-one years ago)

Don't be silly. We gave you Axl Rose, Arthur Craven, Jimmy Hill, Samuel Beckett, Gabriel Byrne, Agnolo Bronzino, Lou Reed, Man Ray, Jesus, Franz Beckenbauer, Walter Sickert, The Marquis de Sade, Richard Briars, King Arthur, Michael Mann, Homer and Bob Dylan. We rock.

Alex K (Alex K), Friday, 7 November 2003 09:55 (twenty-one years ago)

I don't like the fact that because I happen to possess both an X and an Y chromosome I'm often expected to resemble an insensitive, unemotional caveman.

Tuomas (Tuomas), Friday, 7 November 2003 09:56 (twenty-one years ago)

Also, I hate my chest and belly hair. And now I'm growing hair on the back, as well. Yuk!

Tuomas (Tuomas), Friday, 7 November 2003 09:57 (twenty-one years ago)

Tuomas: Classic. (Will you marry me? Just wax it!)
All the rest: DUD.

Sarah Pedal (call mr. lee), Friday, 7 November 2003 09:58 (twenty-one years ago)

Tuomas, you are very sensitive, I suspect emotional, and, to your credit, very THIN!

Skottie, Friday, 7 November 2003 09:58 (twenty-one years ago)

uh, Tuomas, growing hair on the back of what?

Skottie, Friday, 7 November 2003 09:59 (twenty-one years ago)

Asian men are also classic. They are practically hairless and have charming accents.

Sarah Pedal (call mr. lee), Friday, 7 November 2003 10:01 (twenty-one years ago)

Tuomas: Classic. (Will you marry me? Just wax it!)

Erm, I've already promised to act as Luna's absent foreign boyfriend, I'm not sure about another trans-Atlantic relationship... If Luna don't mind, I guess I could consider.

Tuomas (Tuomas), Friday, 7 November 2003 10:02 (twenty-one years ago)

Cavemen = K-ROWR!!! HSA aspires to CaveLife.

Citizen Kate (kate), Friday, 7 November 2003 10:03 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh, and Nigel Spivey has neckhair. Whatchagonnadooo?

Citizen Kate (kate), Friday, 7 November 2003 10:03 (twenty-one years ago)

I have two gay boyfriends here already. Surely an additional overseas fiancé couldn't hurt.

Sarah Pedal (call mr. lee), Friday, 7 November 2003 10:04 (twenty-one years ago)

!!!

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Friday, 7 November 2003 10:06 (twenty-one years ago)

Cavemen = K-ROWR!!! HSA aspires to CaveLife.

Mmm, nothing like the thought of my Polish ex's blond hairy nipples to make me projectile vom--I mean get me in the mood.

Sarah Pedal (call mr. lee), Friday, 7 November 2003 10:06 (twenty-one years ago)

I must admit I like body hair on girls, but on guys, no way! Call me prejudiced.

Tuomas (Tuomas), Friday, 7 November 2003 10:10 (twenty-one years ago)

go figure!

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Friday, 7 November 2003 10:10 (twenty-one years ago)

You hippy...

Actually, that's quite refreshing. You know you want that green card, Tuomas. Come to Pedal.

(x-post)

Sarah Pedal (call mr. lee), Friday, 7 November 2003 10:12 (twenty-one years ago)

hey, HEY! Get a room!

Skottie, Friday, 7 November 2003 10:12 (twenty-one years ago)

I shave once a week but if any straight man ever mentioned my stubble I wouldn't hesitate to slap him. Hard.

Is there a thread about the shaving double-standard?

Sarah Pedal (call mr. lee), Friday, 7 November 2003 10:13 (twenty-one years ago)

Cavemen = K-ROWR!!! HSA aspires to CaveLife.

THEMROC!!! THEMROC!!!! ROCTHEM!!!!!@#

Pashmina (Pashmina), Friday, 7 November 2003 10:14 (twenty-one years ago)

*nods*

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Friday, 7 November 2003 10:15 (twenty-one years ago)

Yes, Pash, that's exactly what converted HSA to CaveLife. He aspires to Themroc. I've never seen it, but HSA says it will explain all.

Citizen Kate (kate), Friday, 7 November 2003 10:16 (twenty-one years ago)

"Yup, good for another week!"

Skottie, Friday, 7 November 2003 10:19 (twenty-one years ago)

I forgot Søren Kierkegaard.

Alex K (Alex K), Friday, 7 November 2003 10:19 (twenty-one years ago)

That is to say...

Skottie, Friday, 7 November 2003 10:19 (twenty-one years ago)

Actually, that's quite refreshing. You know you want that green card, Tuomas. Come to Pedal.

I'm still waiting for Luna's permission. I'm no cheater, not even in the InterWeb.

Tuomas (Tuomas), Friday, 7 November 2003 10:20 (twenty-one years ago)

Can we fight over you to the death?

Sarah Pedal (call mr. lee), Friday, 7 November 2003 10:24 (twenty-one years ago)

It'd be the first time that has happened to me. I'd be impressed, though.

Tuomas (Tuomas), Friday, 7 November 2003 10:25 (twenty-one years ago)

No woman I've met can match my kung fu technique. Plus I look fetching in a miniskirt. How can you lose?

Sarah Pedal (call mr. lee), Friday, 7 November 2003 10:27 (twenty-one years ago)

Aw darlin, you know I want only your happiness and would never stand in the way of true love. I'll be miserable without you, but one day I'll stop crying myself to sleep and I'll love again. Go to Sarah with my blessing.

luna (luna.c), Friday, 7 November 2003 10:30 (twenty-one years ago)

Wait, I didn't say I prefer Sarah over you? Why can't I love you both? Why is life so hard? Boohoo!!!

Tuomas (Tuomas), Friday, 7 November 2003 10:32 (twenty-one years ago)

It's all right, Luna, you can be his publicly-known, upright, socially prominent wife and I'll be the wicked, convention-flouting, eccentric mistress. We'll make it as Oscar Wilde-esque as possible.

Sarah Pedal (call mr. lee), Friday, 7 November 2003 10:35 (twenty-one years ago)

Ya, but *I* usually get that role, so I'm not sure if I can make the switch...

My god, this means I'm OLD, doesn't it?

luna (luna.c), Friday, 7 November 2003 10:36 (twenty-one years ago)

Or we could be like the women in The Color Purple. Yay!

Sarah Pedal (call mr. lee), Friday, 7 November 2003 10:40 (twenty-one years ago)

What the hell, let's do it.

luna (luna.c), Friday, 7 November 2003 10:43 (twenty-one years ago)

Nous sommes so French now!

Sarah Pedal (call mr. lee), Friday, 7 November 2003 10:44 (twenty-one years ago)

In response to the original question:

NA (Nick A.), Friday, 7 November 2003 12:51 (twenty-one years ago)

Many of the people I've admired most intensely have been men, but the other side is, almost all the major-league ignorant, reprehensible bastards I've known have also been men.

I don't think this question has a single answer.

ChrissieH (chrissie1068), Friday, 7 November 2003 12:56 (twenty-one years ago)

Classic *AND* Dud and HOTTTTTTTTTTTT to boot!

Citizen Kate (kate), Friday, 7 November 2003 12:57 (twenty-one years ago)

Men are ok! Most of my friends are men so yeah, classic! But we're all people, isn't that the important thing?????!!!

Ronan (Ronan), Friday, 7 November 2003 13:06 (twenty-one years ago)

Men kill more people than women
Men sexually abuse more children than women
Men batter spouses more than women
Men sexually discriminate more in the workplace
Men abandon more families than women
Men take most of the power in society
We live in a patriarchy

Men may not be dud, but in a taking sides men vs women debate, women win hands down.

The Voice Of Reason, Friday, 7 November 2003 13:07 (twenty-one years ago)

Hopefully there are enough classic men to make up for the dud ones.

Miggie (Miggie), Friday, 7 November 2003 13:08 (twenty-one years ago)

the super and he men of this world?

Ronan (Ronan), Friday, 7 November 2003 13:09 (twenty-one years ago)

Fuck this thread in its stupid ass.

Spinktor the Unmerciful (mawill5), Friday, 7 November 2003 13:10 (twenty-one years ago)

!!!!!!!!!

Pashmina (Pashmina), Friday, 7 November 2003 13:17 (twenty-one years ago)

Classic, if you insist on an answer from me.

This better not turn into another "RADICAL MENSTRATION" thread. Wouldnt surprise me if this was a by-product of that female driven shark jump.

Spinktor the Unmerciful (mawill5), Friday, 7 November 2003 13:22 (twenty-one years ago)

obviously i missed the bit on the radical menstruation thread that said "read this, man/pervert, or THE MATRIARCH will come and pinch off your thing".

Pashmina (Pashmina), Friday, 7 November 2003 13:31 (twenty-one years ago)

No, actually, that was the Le Tigre thread where we beat off Jess with mansticks.

Wait, that's not nearly as dirty as it sounds!!!!

Citizen Kate (kate), Friday, 7 November 2003 13:33 (twenty-one years ago)

Seemed like crazy talk to me.

Spinktor the Unmerciful (mawill5), Friday, 7 November 2003 13:34 (twenty-one years ago)

The whole dialogue that just took place with Tuomas, Luna, and Sarah Pedal is just about the cutest thing I've seen on this forum in awhile -- thank you, you lovelies.

Men can be utterly and completely dud, but certain men redeem the whole gender by their kindness and sweetness, so overall I'll say "equally as classic as women". Oh yes, and I'll have to second Kate's mention of certain men being, like, totally HOTT!!

Many Coloured Halo (Dee the Lurker), Friday, 7 November 2003 13:35 (twenty-one years ago)

Mostly dud.

Women win in just about every possible category.

miloauckerman (miloauckerman), Friday, 7 November 2003 13:38 (twenty-one years ago)

Were you just beat into submission with that statement?

Spinktor the Unmerciful (mawill5), Friday, 7 November 2003 13:40 (twenty-one years ago)

I wish.

miloauckerman (miloauckerman), Friday, 7 November 2003 13:42 (twenty-one years ago)

Anyone seriously saying that one gender is better than another needs to be beat off with mansticks.

NA (Nick A.), Friday, 7 November 2003 13:44 (twenty-one years ago)

that's your solution to everything

Ronan (Ronan), Friday, 7 November 2003 13:45 (twenty-one years ago)

mansticks

Are those a complement for the fucksocks? Just wondering.

Miggie (Miggie), Friday, 7 November 2003 13:45 (twenty-one years ago)

Only certain men. I reckon men can be both more classic and more dud than women, on the whole. Women don't do this extreme thing as much. This line between exciting or scary and brilliant or horrible. Maybe you have to risk one to be the other. Maybe testosterone helps. I'm not sure I could be as obsessive about a woman as I am about certain men, just as I doubt I could feel the same level of hatred toward a woman that I do about certain men.

The hatred half is a good case for being bi-sexual, anyway. I keep this as a theoretical.

ChrissieH (chrissie1068), Friday, 7 November 2003 13:46 (twenty-one years ago)

Kicking shit works too. Im a sys admin, trust me. If in doubt, kick it...

Question: How does one beat something off with a manstick? And definition of these 'mansticks'?

Spinktor the Unmerciful (mawill5), Friday, 7 November 2003 13:46 (twenty-one years ago)

mansticks:

tokyo rosemary (rosemary), Friday, 7 November 2003 13:48 (twenty-one years ago)

Seriously?

That would be the equivilent of maybe 200 shrews trying to take down a giraffe...in my mind at least.

Spinktor the Unmerciful (mawill5), Friday, 7 November 2003 13:50 (twenty-one years ago)

I imagined mansticks would look, well, more manly.

Miggie (Miggie), Friday, 7 November 2003 13:52 (twenty-one years ago)

Mens Pocky... AAAAAAHHHHH!!! FOOD OF THE GODS!!!

Citizen Kate (kate), Friday, 7 November 2003 13:53 (twenty-one years ago)

Women are nicer

Jonathan Z., Friday, 7 November 2003 13:54 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh god, I don't even want to ask about the etymology of the term "mansticks"

Vic (Vic), Friday, 7 November 2003 13:55 (twenty-one years ago)

Yeah, thats a good one. Great.

Spinktor the Unmerciful (mawill5), Friday, 7 November 2003 13:55 (twenty-one years ago)

The origin of the term manstick, before anyone gets any filthy ideas:

http://www.satmania.com/images/articles/arion_1000sa/remote.jpg

(Also known as Manwand or "Honey, have you see the...?")

Citizen Kate (kate), Friday, 7 November 2003 13:57 (twenty-one years ago)

(I am not sure that worked, so here is another manstick)

Citizen Kate (kate), Friday, 7 November 2003 13:58 (twenty-one years ago)

Too late. Before you know, there'll be fishy pictures all over the place.

Miggie (Miggie), Friday, 7 November 2003 13:59 (twenty-one years ago)

FYI anime is t eh suck.

Allyzay, Friday, 7 November 2003 14:49 (twenty-one years ago)

Or we could be like the women in The Color Purple. Yay!

I haven't seen that flick, so I hope this doesn't involve anything too kinky.. Anyway, does this mean that I can be an exotic oversea male-mistress to both of you? Yay!

Tuomas (Tuomas), Friday, 7 November 2003 14:59 (twenty-one years ago)

By the way, that certainly wasn't what I expected a manstick to be. Anyway, I might try to transplant the term into Finnish as well, it's nice.

Tuomas (Tuomas), Friday, 7 November 2003 15:37 (twenty-one years ago)

totally dud!

by and large VERY unattractive

cinniblount (James Blount), Friday, 7 November 2003 15:41 (twenty-one years ago)

Manstick = "mieskapula". Now I'll have to remember to repeat it as much as possible.

Tuomas (Tuomas), Friday, 7 November 2003 15:42 (twenty-one years ago)

Mieskapula! That's excellent! I'm making a note of it, and I'll use it from now on.

Citizen Kate (kate), Friday, 7 November 2003 15:43 (twenty-one years ago)

that sounds like mea culpa, which is good because men are usually apologizing for something, like eating all your cinnamon rolls.

teeny (teeny), Friday, 7 November 2003 15:44 (twenty-one years ago)

men are crap but cocks are ok.

donut bitch (donut), Friday, 7 November 2003 16:17 (twenty-one years ago)

Men are logical, therefore classic, while some women like to slander us with useless emotional opinions. observe

Men kill more people than women
-Men are killed far more often than women, the worst form of discrimination.
Men sexually abuse more children than women
-Consider how these men are treated in jail, and how men are imprisoned far more and sentenced more harshly than women.
Men batter spouses more than women
-All forms of violent crime, excluding rape victimise more men than women.
Men sexually discriminate more in the workplace
-Men are discriminated against by having the most disposable and dangerous jobs, for which they are sometimes paid higher while forfeiting job security and health. A study found 14 of the top 15 most dangerous jobs were predominantly male and over 90% of workplace deaths happened to males.
Men abandon more families than women
-Men are very rarely supported in the home by working women to raise a family if they want to. Men also become homeless far more than women.
Men take most of the power in society
-Men also take most of the abuse in society by being the disposable sex. 50 million people died in war in the 20th century. While it's accepted as a "female tragedy" when areas of China or India are depopulated of female children, it's a "human tragedy" when war areas are depopulated of fighting-age men. Even in the first world, men die 7 years earlier than women, a condition not biological but social.
We live in a patriarchy
-We live in a capitalist system where rich women benefit the same as rich men, but all men pay a human cost that women don't to keep it going.

sucka (sucka), Friday, 7 November 2003 16:33 (twenty-one years ago)

Annouschka (Jody Beth Rosen), Friday, 7 November 2003 18:00 (twenty-one years ago)

men, classic. boys masquerading as men, dud.

also, wo-men, dud. ha.

Dean Gulberry (deangulberry), Friday, 7 November 2003 18:07 (twenty-one years ago)

They're not always so awful when they're bad, either.

Allyzay, Friday, 7 November 2003 18:07 (twenty-one years ago)

Men, by being HUMANS = DUD.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Friday, 7 November 2003 18:16 (twenty-one years ago)

Humans can be moderately fascinating sometimes, though. Occasionally, I wish I was one myself.

ChrissieH (chrissie1068), Friday, 7 November 2003 19:00 (twenty-one years ago)

Men pee their names in snow = also classic. But none of this matters. Soon the robots are coming to purify this diseased planet of the virus of organic life, and restore it to the beauty of sterile rock from which it came. Praise the robots.

sucka (sucka), Friday, 7 November 2003 19:19 (twenty-one years ago)

women who fear male body hair = dud!

I still want Tuomas to answer exactly what it is that he's growing hair on the back of. But he's ignoring me because I complimented him on being slim, which breaks his solidarity with fat people. Oh well...

Skottie, Friday, 7 November 2003 20:32 (twenty-one years ago)

Vonda Shepard, Friday, 7 November 2003 20:47 (twenty-one years ago)

I would say sorry for being pompous, but we servants of the robots are incapable of it. It's just that this thread struck me as about as appropriate as "black people: c or d." For now, I will spare you mortals, for as long as Custos delivers the proper sacrifices to the overlords.

sucka (sucka), Saturday, 8 November 2003 03:48 (twenty-one years ago)

Pardon my language, you have to remeber that I'm a foreigner. I meant of course that I'm growing hair on the back of me, that is, I'm growing back hair. How should I put it in English, I sometimes have trouble with my prepositions?

Tuomas (Tuomas), Sunday, 9 November 2003 13:13 (twenty-one years ago)

"I'm growing hair on my back." It was perfectly clear, I was just being silly. But, not to worry Tuomas, it's all good!!!!!!
